3 Steps to Start a Home Business on a Budget

Hello and welcome. I was inspired to publish this article for those of you who want to start a home business but have a budget. I understand that times are hard and we want to make some extra money and the last thing we want to do is spend money trying to start a new business. I wrote this article for those who want to get up and running and start a home business on a budget, and not have to spend a bunch of money on advertising.

Before we get into the details I want to share some recent statistics. According to recent statistics the average American spends at least $200 a month on entertainment. At least $150 on clothes, and around $60 on fast food. Although I understand that a lot of these we need, if we want to get serious about building a business on a budget, we should also put all these other things on a budget as well. Whatever we have left over could be invested into your internet marketing efforts. So let's begin.

3 Steps To Start A Home Business On a Budget.

1. Join Affiliate Programs.
Look for specific products or services that you personally enjoy. It is important that you focus on things YOU like because you cannot sell something that you are not personally interested in. Affiliate programs are free to join so you need NO money to start. And most affiliate programs provide you with banners, sample ads, and a lot of tools to get you started promoting their products. This is perfect for those of you who don't have a product or service to market.

2. Set Up A Blog.
I recommend you use either Blogspot by Google, or WordPress.com. WordPress offers two versions. They offer a free blog with WordPress.com or if you can afford a small monthly fee (around $5) you can set up a WordPress.org, which I strongly recommend. The reason being is because if you post something that may sound too much like a sales pitch on WordPress.com they will delete your account. Its very easy to set up, easier than setting up a website. Once its up start posting information about your products or services. This is the secret to blogging: always provide value to readers. People don't want to read sales pages. They want information. So provide information, or testimonial about your industry. But don't pitch you products or services nonstop.

3. Drive Traffic To Your Blog
The easiest and fastest way to drive traffic to any website or blog is through pay per click or PPC. However, it does take a big investment and a lot of knowledge on picking and choosing the right keywords. It can either make you or brake you. If you don't know about PPC I suggest you stay away from it until you are in profit and are able to play with the big dogs! Plus, we are sticking to a budget. I strongly recommend you use social media to drive traffic to your blog. As I said before, provide value and give people information that will make them curious about what you are offering. Create friendships and relations with people on these sites. And when the are ready to buy your services they will come to you naturally.
