Are You New to a Home Business? Before You Start, Stop What You Are Doing

Are you always hearing when starting your new home business that nothing will happen unless you take action? It is perfectly true but action is something that needs to be targeted before it can become successful. Today's world is all about action. Action here action there, a veritable soup of action going mostly nowhere. Sometimes you need to stop to allow your brain to make sense of all the information before your action can be targeted.

Today's Internet Market is no different, you are constantly told to work longer, work harder, try this method, use that method as if this alone will achieve the results you desire. All it usually means is that especially for the beginner you become bewildered, frustrated and finally exhausted. Is this what you really want and is this what the market wants? The idea sold to you was "work smarter not harder."

What is wrong with stopping. Why are we so afraid of it? Is it that we are afraid that we will get left behind in the rush to riches or that we will be judged as being lazy. Funnily enough your brain likes to stop, that is the way it learns. Have you ever watched a small child. When faced with a new challenge it learns a new activity and then sleeps for a short while. This rest period allows the new knowledge to be categorized into either already known experience or to form a new category. This same learning process goes on in the adult but because there are already many learned categories stored within the brain the process of categorization of new learning is that much faster.

For the newcomer to home business and internet marketing the learning curve can be almost a vertical line upwards. A new language to be learned, new strategies, new technology, it can all be quite bewildering. Your brain, being what it is will try to categorize all this new information into known categories or experience. If there is little or no previous experience your brain can either reject this new information or create new categories.

It cannot efficiently create new categories during times of intense activity, it needs a rest period where below the level of your consciousness it can sort the new material. Einstein when asked what he did when he could not find an answer to a problem said "I put it in the draw and let it find its own solution."

When approaching a new problem or a new experience, never be afraid to stop, stand back and maybe do something different for a short period. Concentrate on something physical. The brain interprets this as a rest period. You will be surprised how quickly all those little neurons in your brain can sort the new material.
