Childhood Memorabilia That May Have Value to Collectors

Everyone thinks they have something valuable from their childhood that is highly collectible and sometimes they are correct but frequently they are very mistaken. There has always been a market for old baseball cards particularly the ones of very popular players who left their mark on the game. Children everywhere remember the fun they had trading these with their friends to try to collect the players they admired the most. Everyone has heard of Topps baseball cards and many people even have memories of buying them along with a flat piece of bubble gum wrapped up inside the package. Many of these are not valuable to collectors today because of the quantity that were distributed but some of them have value into the thousands of dollars due to the novelty of the sports figure whose photograph and career highlights are chronicled on them. Some other popular collectibles even today are:

� Dolls: Many women like to collect dolls from their childhood and that makes Betsy- Wetsy, Shirley Temple, and similar dolls very collectible. Very old dolls with porcelain faces are also much in demand to collectors. Even very old doll clothing and furniture is sold every day on e-bay and in antique stores.

� Trains: Old toy trains like Lionel bring back great childhood memories and are highly valued by a lot of collectors. Many people remember getting these train sets for birthday gifts or holiday presents and can even now recall the excitement they felt. Because these train sets were so appreciated, a lot of guys have kept them all these years later and still have their original train sets. Those that like the trains but never got them for one reason or another are sometimes in the market to add them to their collections.

� Matchbox cars: These tiny cars were highly prized and affordable when they first came out and even today they are still being produced and sold new. Of course, as in everything collectible, any old Matchbox cars that are for sale and in good condition are sought by collectors to add to their set.

� Comic books: Who would have thought that old comic books could become so valuable? What was originally simply thrown out has become very pricey and highly collectible to those who enjoy comic books. These are harder to find in good condition because the paper they are printed on tears so easily so an old comic book in excellent can fetch a very good price.

� Board games: Old board games were constructed differently than they are today and can actually be quite lovely to behold. Many people enjoy the memories that these games invoke and they appreciate an old game similar to the ones they played with as a child so they are willing to pay a good price for them. A box that has been preserved unbroken and in good condition adds to the value of the board game and of course all of the pieces must be intact to make it appealing to a collector.
