If your business is struggling your communication skills just might be to blame. It does not matter what business you are in, because at some level you are always in the people business. A business relies on customers to produce income. Even when a business is on auto-pilot you are still dealing with people on some level. Your communication skills are thus vital to getting customers, keeping customers, and getting your business on auto-pilot in the first place.

Second, if your business involves having a team, then you will need to use those communication skills to keep your team informed. You'll also need it to keep your team motivated and producing, which isn't always easy.

In either case, you're often trying to communicate and build relationships over the internet. Therefore, there are two sets of skills you will need to work on in order to succeed. The first set are your traffic generation and pre-selling tools, which help your customers identify with you.

The second skill is the skill of regular, non-invasive contact. Relationships are built through contact, even if you don't know the other person face to face. If you can master knowing when you should contact different levels of people that are involved with your business both on and offline you'll be ahead of people who let those contacts drift away unless an exchange of money is involved.

There are many books, web pages, and other resources that can help you learn these skills. It also helps to join a business that will mentor you into acquiring these skills, as well. Believe it or not both forms of communication involve easy to learn, step-by-step processes that can be mastered and planned to your best advantage.
