I live in a very liberal town, Lawrence, Kansas. There are a particularly large number of eco sensitive people here who are very interested in the "green" lifestyle. It occurred to me that if more folks decided to work at home, especially in the field of consumer research (getting paid to test products) there would be a tremendous benefit to the environment.

According to the American Electronics Association as much as 1.35 billion gallons of gasoline could be saved annually if every U.S. worker worked just 1.6 days a week at home. The EPA estimates that this would reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into our atmosphere by a whopping 26 billion pounds!I'm not much of a "tree hugger" but even I can appreciate the impact that would have on our environment.

So what does this have to do with the job opportunities that involve testing and surveying products? Well, this particular segment of the home based sector is growing right now and there really are some very reputable companies that offer these opportunities. In fact, most of the companies who hire folks for consumer research are perfect for part-time jobs and as we have already determined even a slight reduction in the number of hours we commute to a "job" can save a lot of resources.

It is also becoming very apparent that those folks who work at home have been found to be more efficient. How much more efficient? Try 45% in some studies! That's right, working from home can be more efficient and green friendly too.

There are a lot of compelling reasons to consider working from home. You really should consider it because the statistics reveal a growing trend. In September of 2007 a study revealed that by the end of 2010 50% of eligible employees will be working from home at least one day a week.

It is a growing trend in a troubled economy. It is a growing trend among environmentally concerned individuals. It is a trend you should investigate.
