Helpful Tips For Natural Beekeeping

Ever wondered what keeps the supply of deliciously natural honey going? Honey, as we know is obtained from bees and bees are quite tough to maintain. And honey cannot be produced synthetically and bees are the only ones to help us! However, fortunately modern man although, is fast moving towards a life that can be sustained synthetically with the help of technology, believes in Natural beekeeping to obtain pure honey.

But what is natural beekeeping? It is quite simple and true to the term coined for it, it is just the natural way of producing honey and that is, of course, done through bees. Many also term it as the organic way of honey production. However, even if you are a natural beekeeper, you may not be an organic producer of honey. But the organic beekeeper does have to adopt the same methods as the natural beekeepers to obtain the true nectar source.

However, today most of the beekeepers do not go in for the old age techniques of natural beekeeping. Because many of them use pesticides and other harmful chemicals to help keep the pests like termites away, they have weakened the bee colonies in general. But if one strictly practices the natural way then the bee colonies remain healthy and one is able to help produce a high quality of honey.

Natural beekeeping has two very important aspects that need to be looked after and they are; first being the nectar source and second being the management of the hive.

The location of the bee yard or better known as the apiary is of immense importance. If this is not done carefully then all your investment will be wasted. Therefore, it is best to start a bee yard or an apiary in a place that has a natural water resource close by and is besides a beautiful flowering garden. Even crops with flowers and flowers grown in the wild nature are resourceful for the bees. This is all important because during the peak honey-producing season, the bees must have pollen and nectar resources close by.

Placing a bee yard close to the main road or a bustling city space will not help as they require quietude and thrive in isolated locations. Plus the area in which they are located should be away from industries, chemically treated farms and places that are densely populated.

By law, a beekeeper is not allowed to place his/her bee yard in a location that can be prone to contamination and other problems. While the location of the bee yards is important, the health of the bee colony is equally important. Therefore, it is said that if the bee yard is placed in a shaded area, then it is prone to being affected by the termites so they are the safest in the sunlight.

Pine trees are of great use too for natural beekeeping. They are known to kill microbes and mites in their surrounding areas. Plus the bee years near coniferous trees are known to help bees' colonies stay healthy. So if they are no trees surrounding the area, one can easily plant them. Trees also help to protect the bee yards from high winds.
