Everyone has their reason for choosing a home based business. Some have the luxury of choice and some have the decision forced on them. Whatever the need behind the decision, how do you overcome fear that arises when you look at the competition - to believe that you can succeed? Here are some thoughts on home based business success and how you can cultivate the power of optimism.
It's a well known fact that homebased businesses are going to face competition. Competition means - the act of competing, for profit or prize, rivalry, a test of skill or ability. We can pretend it doesn't exist and struggle on, or we can accept and face it, and work out how to overcome and succeed.
Optimism means a tendency to expect the best possible outcome. This word has been recognised in the medical world for the importance it has in the recovery of seriously ill patients. The more optimism the person has, the more chance they have of survival.
In the same way, an optimist is a person who doesn't need to be told of the difficulties ahead, but dares to hope that he can and will make a success of things. In fact, your future lies between your ears: What you think and hope for tends to become true. Why? Because you have something in you that inspires and pushes you forward in spite of all manner of obstacles.
If your homebased business success is slow in coming and you are losing hope, how can you cultivate this power of optimism to change things around?
1) Deliberately fill your mind with new thoughts: I double dare you to have a qality "think" session everyday. Make yourself a coffee, sit down and say "now I am going to think about the things I want to achieve and see happen in my life" Spend the next 5 minutes seeing yourself as you imagine your successful business to be and what benefits you hope to receive. Don't tell me your thoughts won't turn around after a couple of weeks imagining success!
You are actually envisioning your goal. While you are at it, think about some of the sights and sounds and smells that accompany your success.
2) Be grateful. Maybe you don't have more because you don't recognise the good that you already have. Edison failed 5,000 times in his experiments with the electric light bulb, and viewed it as "finding 5,000 ways the light bulb doesn't work!". He must have worked very hard to choose to be optimistic after 5,000 failures.
3) Plug the skills gap. Do what it takes and learn what it takes to compete. Give your opponent a competition!
Another key to home business success is to keep abreast of changes in technology. Find out what the latest changes are so you can have an edge over your competitors.
