The mass of people who set out to start their own online business, usually with no or little money, fail to do so. Often it's not understanding what an internet business looks like, besides doing all the wrong things.

1. You'll know that you're always being urged to take action. This is true up to a point. First you need to understand about your niche. That is, have some knowledge about it. Second, it depends what action you take. Any you do take should be in a bigger context than simply having a website and trying to get traffic to it. You also need products, preferably your own, organised into your business system and tied into your autoresponder messages. This way you can feed your customers through your sales funnel to your various products.

2. People who fail often don't make building their list their number one priority. Instead, they go for the selling in your face marketing to get visitors to buy products, which are probably not their own. They spend money and time trying to get traffic to their sales page. When it doesn't work, and they're out of pocket, they decide it's a waste of time and move on. However, if they'd built a list of subscribers, they could also sell to them by referring them to their sales page.

3. The short term view predominates with most people who try to get an online business off the ground. The first problem is that their mindset is not about having a business but about making money as fast as they can. The second problem, coming from the first one, is that without a long term plan they're almost bound to fail. The reason is that they just can't get enough traffic, in that short time, to their website, which is the only one they've set up and then stopped.
