Can you imagine how much better your life would be if you were able to get the right information, so as to get that online income dream to actually work? For many people that's how it's going to stay, as a dream, but for a small minority of the others it's going to be a dream that they'll get to see come to life.
Why is it still only a dream for many people? Just picture this for a moment. Let's just think about that for a moment. How often would you be asked to pay your local, 'real world', employer so that you could work for them? Sounds ridiculous when you put it like that, doesn't it?
You need to apply the same sort of thinking when looking for work online. If you have to pay to be a data processor, stuff envelopes, make small toys, etc. Just wonder to yourself, why. Many of those 'jobs' have been proven in the past to be scams, but there may still be legitimate versions of this home based system out there. Before getting involved, and especially before paying them any money, do your homework on them, and their company.
Check to see if they have full contact details, check to see if they actually are registered with any associations that they claim to be i.e. the better business bureau, and check online to see if other employees have had problems with them. If you type in the company name, followed by the word 'scam' you'll quickly find if people have had run-ins with them before.
Tip 2: Going freelance.
There are a growing number of freelancing sites, online, where you can pick up a huge variety of work, and that is great, but there are a few things to watch out for, too.
It can be hard to get your very first bid accepted on many of these sites, and here's why:
The people looking for freelancers to do their projects are more likely to take on people who have already done some work, and had some feedback; which makes it all the more difficult for you as a first timer. The employers are, also, far more likely to go back to freelancers that they've dealt with in the past. They know their standard of work, and don't have to 'train them' to provide the sort of work they're after.
The final things you have to contend with are the undercutting, and the over expectations of the employers. People who haven't had their first freelance job are going to offer to do a project for as little as they can, so as to get that first job. With there always being new people bidding for jobs, you'll always have someone willing to do it dirt cheap.
As a result of this undercutting, and with a huge number of people looking for an online income, employers are starting to expect a lot more for their money, and this leaves many new freelancers finding that they have to work for well below the minimum wage to get these jobs. This wasn't part of the dream, was it?
To get around the undercutting your best bet is to go for a website that charges one price only for a job; and make sure you don't take on the people who expect you to do too much for that money.
Tip 3: Being an affiliate.
For the majority of people the best way to get that online income is to become an affiliate. Just imagine for a moment if you didn't have to create your own product; didn't have to worry about how you'll collect money; how you're going to ship products; or that you had to deal with customers, in a support capacity. Isn't that more like the original dream you had?
There are a lot of affiliate networks out there, e.g. ClickBank and Amazon.com, so you'll have no shortage of potential markets to go for. The best thing to do is to pick a niche that you're interested in, and try to find a digital product that'll be of use to people who are interested in that niche.
Why digital? Digital products pay a much higher commission than physical products; you'll often get paid quicker, because they get delivered right away; and the variety of digital products is vast.
Why pick a niche that you're interested in? One of the best ways to attract people to the product you're promoting is to write about it. This could be on forums, on a blog, on specialised article sites, etc. If you're interested in the topic, you're not going to find it as difficult to promote, and that makes life so much more enjoyable.

Don't pay to work, unless you've checked the company out, and know it's absolutely necessary; you can, and probably should, try freelancing at sometime, but watch out for the trap of doing too much, for too little, just to get on the first rung of the ladder; but, if you want something that has been working for thousands of people, and don't want to have to do any more than just promoting a product, then affiliate marketing is going to be your dream job.
