Our lives appear to be getting faster as each day goes by. What's news and new in the morning is old on the train home. If we haven't heard of something by lunchtime we're bored of it by tea-time and by night time we wish it would just go away.
The news is constant and the speed at which we need and devour information is breakneck, you'd be forgiven for wondering how we ever did without 24 hour rolling news and the Internet to give us our fix whenever we sit down in front of a computer screen.
Finding what we need is easy, we simply switch on our computer, open a browser, navigate to Google and search but even that takes time and people get frustrated, so I guess now would be a good time to find out how to do it faster. Much faster!
Yes, rather than give you tips on how to slow down a bit and make more of your life (there are articles on that elsewhere) I thought I'd give you a few tips on how to fuel your crazy life even more and if you don't drop exhausted from a day of searching, how you can find more things to stuff into your brain.
Firstly, you need to stop going to Google all the time. It's fine when it's your homepage but it's not always your homepage and you may want to search from anywhere. And I mean, anywhere. Just been to a news site and read something you don't understand? No good having to then shoot off to Google before searching is it? No, you want it now so you need to install the Google toolbar which will give you the Google search right there in front of you, whatever website you happen to be on.
Simple! But there's more because those clever chaps at Microsoft have given us an ever faster way to search for stuff we've just read.
When reading an article on a site, simply highlight the word you're struggling with or want more information about and then click the mouse. You'll then get a menu of shortcuts, one of which is 'search with Google' - and off you go straight to Google and the answers you require.
So now we're at Google, what can we do now to speed up the process of going through all those results? Well if you're a Firefox user, you can install 'Google Keyboard Shortcuts' - a neat little plugin that lets you use the arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll through results then hit enter to go to the one you want.
So there you go - some super-speedy ways to allow you to consume even more information in your busy life!
