Telephone books really are a thing of the past; in fact I am amazed that they still even bother to put them out. To buy cards to put out is not very expensive (apart from the postage) but walking from house to house or putting them on to notice boards takes time and a lot of it. Even before computers became so easy to use when I used to arrive a people's homes to give them estimates and there would be other builders there already giving an estimate. Competition is good. The beauty of the Internet is that it is free, of course putting out cards is fine and stuff like that is great if that what you want to do (do it as well)... Don't invest in a business, invest in yourself..
