One of the hardest things about setting up an internet marketing business from home, is that you are very much on your own. Your friends and family laugh a lot to start with, then mostly just ignore you, then after a while, they become intrigued.
"I saw your car on the drive yesterday, were you ill?"
"Nope, gave up work!"
That's how most internet marketers suddenly get noticed, the day they suddenly stop working in the office.
For most of us, it was a long hard slog on our own, trying things out, testing, failing and trying again, giving up and starting again weeks or months later. But for everyone, there is a much easier way.
Find a GOOD mentor.
There are plenty of great internet marketers out there, there even some absolutely brilliant marketers, but there are very few really good mentors. I have had the privilege of teaming up with many famous names in my career on the internet, mostly as a very low down part of someone's downline. For the most part, up until recently, very few if any of these so called IM gurus cared about the people in their downlines, but now the world is changing and as more people move into internet marketing and online sales, there is a real need for people who not only understand HOW to set up an internet marketing campaign, but can answer the questions without being able to see the person, without being able to see how difficult it is for some people to understand the size of the internet and comprehend it's capabilities.
If you haven't got one, get one NOW, you will need someone if you are just starting out. Donald Trump has advisors, The President has advisors, why shouldn't you? They didn't get to where they are without a Mentor.
Your Mentor need not be someone who has his or her own business, but needs to be someone who understands how the internet works. They do need to be able to answer YOUR questions and quite often the person to ask is usually the one closest to you in terms of experience, not the Guru at the top of the chain as he/she may have long forgotten how to do all the little nitty gritty stuff that just makes it so much easier to succeed.
Your Mentor should be familiar with the programs you are using, the sitebuilders, autoresponders, the page designers, dreamweaver, adobe photoshop, anything you will need to create your own world online.
You must be able to trust your mentor.
If you receive hundreds of offers to buy more products before your mentor has helped you earn your first dollar, drop them like a stone, they are only there for the money, they are not there to help you.
A great mentor is one who only takes on a few clients a week, takes time out to visit them! A great Mentor does not ask you to pay thousands to go and visit him/her.
Your mentor can be your best friend. Mine is.
He keeps me from running before I can walk, he keeps me in tune when I want to scream at the top of my lungs. He works without pay because he wants me to succeed.
That is a mentor.
