Is Your Job Driving You Crazy?

Recently, I got home from work very stressed out and tired. After supper, I decided to lie down on my couch for a rest. Shortly afterwards, I was awakened with the most excruciating muscle spasm that you could ever imagine. I watched my foot curled up, totally out of control. I literally thought that I was going to die from the pain.

This is what a high stressed job can do to a person. It can drive you crazy. Thankfully, I had the wisdom to have started my online business some time ago. I knew the stress would be temporary. I knew that this job would be for a short while.

You see... when you are controlled by someone else, you are totally at their mercy. You are so restricted in when you can eat, when to take a break etc. You live by the clock. You labor away at your job, while some people are at work, not because they want to, but just for that coveted pay cheque. Being in business for yourself, but not by yourself, is the way to go. You see... if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Times have changed. It's not business as usual. If you are relying on a job for the rest of your life, you are only fooling yourself. Companies, these days, are closing their doors right and left. They close their doors on their employees with little or no notice.

This is exactly what has happened to the company that I'm presently working with. Just this past week, all the employees arrived at work; over 400 of us, thinking that our jobs were safe. Some of my co-workers are with the company for 10 years. Only to be called into a brief meeting to let us know that they were closing their doors, within a few months.

You could see the shock, disappointment and tears on a lot of the faces. Where there was hope, was now hopelessness. For me, it was as if a ton of weight had rolled off my shoulders. I knew that my life was not tied to that job.
