Jobs for Stay at Home Moms

The most important job for a stay at home mom? Taking care of her child. OK, now that we have gotten past the obvious, let's talk about the mechanics of that proposition. There is the love, tenderness, and devotion - and then the logistic support demands always come "a-knockin". These little guys need everything from diapers to clothes to stimulating toys and group activities - and the list just grows with them as they age and need more stuff.

So now, you really do have to take a hard look at jobs for stay at home moms - or you decide to sacrifice and go with out the luxuries and maybe even some of the necessities. I have been a stay at home mom for 18 years and I have both lived in plenty and have had the experience of sacrificing the basic things - trust me, living in abundance is certainly the preferred choice. And keep in mind that abundance means having more than you need so you can help someone else along. For a stay at home mom, that may look like treating a play group to Chuckee Cheese or to the zoo or some other social outing. A job for the stay at home mom simply creates breathing space and gives the family more options.

When you turn the corner and realize that yes, working from home may take a little time from your kids, but it will also create a situation where you can actually give them more, then you will have to analyze which job is going to give you the most bang for your buck. Bottom line - you are trading time that you would be spending with your family, for time making money - it would make sense for it to be some venture that you enjoy AND that is profitable. Believe it or not, you can actually have both.

I have re-discovered that women are consummate nurturers and if we find a job to work from home, it may as be one that serves others. That is what we are naturally good at - why not get paid for it? Sure you will have to hone your skills and tailor them according to the particular market segment you are going after, but the bottom line is you are going to do best when you learn to serve others and help them to grow. Isn't that what motherhood is all about? The only difference is you don't get paid for the job that you volunteered for inside of your home - why not earn an income for nurturing the people that you didn't birth?

Jobs for stay at home moms are excessively listed all over the internet. Here is my only caution - and this is very important: Learn to work on yourself first. It's just like the oxygen mask falling in the airplane - get yourself squared away first and then you are better positioned to help others. Many jobs for work at home moms are short sighted and serve as a quick fix, but they do not help the mom to really help herself and others in the long run.
