What is residual income and how do you make it?

The word residual is a term that is used in many fields. One story that I remember is about Bob Denver who played on Gilligan's Island. He insisted that in his contract he would continue to receive royalty payments on his show for the rest of his life. Apparently, that wasn't done much in those days so the makers of the show agreed but instead he didn't get paid very much for his acting on the shore. He eventually made more money when the show went into syndication than he did when the show was on air. The money he made until he died was residual income. He did something in the beginning to get it started but after that the income continued to come in year after year.

Residual income in network marketing and MLM is money that is paid out to you after the initial start up was put into place. We see residual income in so many home businesses such as Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Scentsy, and the list goes on and on.

Many people worked hard at starting up a home business. They signed up people to do what they are doing and helped them to sign up people also. After a while they could take time off for whatever reason but did the money stop coming in? No. On the contrary. Everyone under him were working hard to get their business running and he was making residual income off of each of them. The more people they signed up, the more residual income than came in month after month.

You need a solid plan when you first start your home business. Once you have it established then you need to be dedicated to amount of time and hard work that is going to be required to get it flowing. It may not seem like your business is growing fast enough at first but if you stick to your plan it will pay off. Anyone that decides to start a home business should give themself a full year of hard work before they will actually see a profit from their sales and from residual income.
