Multilevel Marketing (MLM) opportunities are more popular these days than ever. This is quite an achievement considering the long and storied history of the business model. Why the increase in popularity? Thanks to the advent of the internet and the new media, the potential to promote one's MLM venture has increased dramatically. As such, more and more people are looking towards MLM as a viable business entity. However, there are concerns about the "MLM, a pyramid scheme venture" on the minds of many looking at MLM opportunities for potential profit. For those with such concerns, here is some positive reinforcement: rather than MLM a pyramid scheme, it would be better to see the concept as MLM: a true business model. The reason for this is that it IS a true business model and not an attempt at scamming anyone.
Does that mean that there are no MLM ventures that fall under the category of a scam? Honestly, it would be absurd to infer that no MLM venture - or any self-employment venture - is free of scam artists. They exist and they give MLM and entrepreneurial ventures as a whole a bad name. However, it would not be accurate to state that the "MLM, a pyramid scheme" notion should be applied across the board to all MLM programs.
There are many excellent MLM programs out there that can aid in providing exactly what is needed to be a successful entrepreneur. MLM a true business model exists because it is a logical one. It entails the concept of promoting the sale of a product or service which is a concept all commerce is based upon and has been based upon since the down of time. Additionally, the notion of a MLM business model entails hiring the right help and having them work for you. This comes in the form of the down line of recruits whom you would be procuring commissions from. Unfortunately, the concept of the down line is where the "MLM a pyramid scheme" derives from. Once again, this is not a fair assessment because legitimate businesses employ variants of a down line all the time.
Also, there is the little matter of the belief that a pyramid exists solely for the purpose of defrauding people. This cannot be the case if the purpose of the MLM program is to legitimately sell a product or service. Again, pyramid schemes revolve around the concept of procuring money from those on the bottom of the down line solely to 'feed' the profits of those at the top. Whether or not the product or service in question is valid or even exists would not be of any concern to those running the program. Their goal is to cheat people out of their money. That is not marketing nor is it a legitimate MLM venture.
Keep these words in mind: MLM, a true business model for success, can yield great profits. All you need to do is perform the proper research into which programs have established a reputation for delivering on promises. This way, you can feel confident that you will be working with a solid program as opposed to one that is just another spin on the classic pyramid scheme model.
