Do your friends run the other way when they see you? Do they screen your calls? Have you invited a bald co-worker to an opportunity meeting only to have him tell you he had to stay in and wash his hair? Are you spending more on autoship than what's currently being shipped into your wallet? If any of these occurrences sound familiar, you may have infectious emeleminosis. Emeleminosis (em-el-eminosis) is nothing to be ashamed of and there is help. In my quest to eradicate emeleminosis, I looked to the internet in hopes of divining the answer... I've listed some findings below.
Anyone that's been around the Multi Level Marketing industry for any period of time has seen it evolve from the Denny's table presentation with your friends and neighbors to sponsoring people on the other side of the world with the click of a button. The internet is awesome because it makes marketing, prospecting, training and sponsoring "simple" and gives those that master its abilities a virtually unlimited reach. This sound's like MLM utopia doesn't it? For a while it was. If you were early to the party, and you brought along your downlines, you made a pile of money. Ah... but there is a dark side, Luke! Joe MLM'er on your 5th row now has the ability to see and interact with reps from thousands of different opportunities all the time... let's call them "pretty shiny things." He has the promise of top placement, he's invited to participate in a "pre-launch" or he's going to get into a 2x2 forced matrix right below his buddy with a 10,000 person downline. Unlike back in the day when there was some degree of brand loyalty, now 98% of the people that fail in MLM are certain that it has nothing to do with their personal activity and EVERYTHING to do with the opportunity they've chosen, when they got in and who sponsored them.
Are they right? Yes and no. A lot of them would have failed if they were one of the first reps to sign up for Amway. No system can make up for lack of execution. But aside from that, how can you make serious residual income from a company when all of your reps bounce to and fro looking for the magic MLM that's going to change everything in their lives? It's going to be difficult. And when 4,000 people leave your downline and your residual goes from 15k per month to 3k, you're likely to jump to the next big thing and to attempt to drag your downline with you. Remember, MLM's are all about the residual income. In order to earn this residual income, the downline has to stay in tact.
So what do you do? The logical solution is to find a system, product or service that will allow you to make the income you want to make WITHOUT requiring you to maintain thousands of people. That's it! There are many options nowadays including top tier opportunities and affiliate marketing. I could write forever about the different affiliate marketing and top tier opportunities available, but there is already an abundance of information on both of those on the internet. Do your research and find out what the top earners in the internet marketing industry are doing, not just the top earners in your current MLM. Also make sure that the product is sound AND that you can make a living without thousands of other entrepreneurs making sales for you. As for traditional MLM... if you are passionate about a particular MLM product or service, just take a little cash and like Gordon Gekko says, "Put it on the dog with the least fleas." That is, participate in MLM's that won't require too much of your time but reward you with the products and relationships you cherish. Don't let MLM stop you from reaching your financial potential.
Good luck out there and if remember, if you liked this post, please share it!
Wishing you a mountain of success
