Online information is usually looked upon with skepticism. Due to the nature of the platform, it is as easy to post online news about something highly technical as it is for someone to post a flier in a coffee shop round the corner of your house. A lot of bloggers post information in niche segments explaining how to do something really technical in that field but this information is usually derived from other material online and in most cases gets degraded due to derivation. Most writers writing online information are not experts from the area that they write about. Online news is mostly sourced from articles already available online or from database and encyclopedias like Wikipedia. This makes it very important for a user to be aware of the reliability of the source of online information he is depending upon.
Websites like Google is a credible source to search for online information but it is not an authority that can be depended upon. Google and other search engines merely search for information on the web and display the results for you to begin your research. Once you have fine tuned your search results, you should start looking into the credibility of the source of the information. Never rely upon someone quoting someone else, as a rule all reporters will report their source of their story and if you have to write on it, always research the source instead of stories derived from it. Even while you quote a piece of online information in a paper you are required to quote its source, it is the originating source you are expected to quote in your foot note. Derivative works in any form of art do not carry weight and the same rule applies for online news.
Online news is mostly available for free, however, for those who need a credible source to quote in research material paid and professionally verified information is also available online. While it is extremely difficult to verify the source of all the information you come across the web in blogs and other sites, you do not have to worry about the same when you are paying for the information. A lot of people offer free online news covering the basic and set a price for more specific online information. Remember, always verify the source of your online news before you rely on it.
