Many people who are stuck at home are looking into online money making because they are unable to work at typical types of jobs. The stay-at-home mother, the sick, disabled or elderly, and low or no income families all often go online to find a source of money. Unfortunately there are too many unethical people and companies that take advantage of these people.
One of the most common online money making scam has its roots in the U.S. Depression of the 1920's and 30's. It is the classic work-at-home scam known as 'envelope stuffing' and it has seeped into the internet like a slimy slippery scum and taken root. There are many variations but the basic principle is the same.
You are promised to get one to two dollars for every envelope you stuff. You send the company money and they send you envelopes that are addressed and have postage. You receive a brief manual accompanied with fliers that you are suppose to post around town, which advertises another work-from-home scam. When people see the flyer all they have to do is send you two dollars in a pre-paid, self addressed envelope. You fill that with another flyer and off it goes.
Another online money making scam is a twist on the envelope stuffing and it is known as email processing. Basically you pay to learn how to "become a highly paid email processor" but in reality what you are getting are instructions on how to spam the same ad that you responded to in web forums and newsgroups.
There is another popular scam that turns you into the scammer and it is advertised as 'typing at home'. After you send money to the fraudulent company to get "more information", you get printed information and a disk. The information tells you that you need to place home typist ads and sell copies of the disk to the people who reply to you.
Online money making is definitely possible and can be very lucrative. You should be wary, however, about companies that want you to send them money before you can earn.
