What Your Business Can Learn From A Little Old Lady
What in the world does your online business have in common with a little old lady? Much more than you can imagine! My mother is an 89-year-old grandmother and she likes to be called anything but "old!" I find her perspectives on life can always be applied to my online biz. She lives in a cozy apartment in an assisted living facility and I was talking to her on the phone recently. Soon into the conversation, she said, "You know, sometimes I just get tired of all the old people." I knew what she meant. It had nothing to do with age, as my Mom is probably one of the oldest in the place. It had everything to do with their mindset. You see, my Mom is very young-at-heart. She knows that the people you hang out with are the ones you become like. She'd rather tell a good joke and share a delicious laugh than hear about any aches and pains. She knows that if you succumb to the negatives, you go downhill pretty quickly. How in the world does this apply to your online biz? Well, there are plenty of people who want to tell you why they aren't successful online and you won't be either. They are quick to tell you what ails them. Their list is long and goes on forever. Nobody is reading their blog. They can't find the right JV partners. They can't afford a coach. Their webmaster doesn't make their site look professional enough. Anything sound familiar? If so, you need to run away as fast as possible. You know what I mean. Quit hanging out with the "old people!" You want your biz to thrive? Then get with the program and stop listening to everything that can go wrong and choose to do everything in your power to make it all go right! The secret is in who you hang out with and if they have a negative or positive perspective. Recently, in my mastermind group, we were commenting on an online biz that at one time was faltering and now seems to have taken a turn in an upward direction. We were also very aware of why. That biz owner had decided to start hanging out with the winners instead of the whiners! The result? That online biz is thriving with clients and cash flow! Now, my 89 year old mother doesn't know the first thing about blogs, social media, or WordPress sites. But what she does understand is relationships and how good relationships with successful people help us grow. Do your biz a favor! Be sure to keep a positive outlook, focused determination, and cultivate relationships with other positive and forward-thinking people. Take a lesson from someone who is a couple months shy of 90 years old: Stay away from all those "old people" who will bring your biz down. Go out and find some positive, cutting-edge thinkers and see if your biz doesn't take a successful turn!Being around other positive, successful people will help your business flourish. Take the time to improve your own self-talk and watch your biz go to the next level. An excellent place to start is with Martha Giffen's downloadable "Rewired."
