Why Bob Failed and Joe Succeeded in the Home Based Online Business

Bob and Joe were having lunch together, as they always do, at work. Bob and Joe are childhood friends, they grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, got the same education, and started working at the factory, a family tradition.

They were kind of satisfied with their lives, they had a steady income, and lived like their families had done for a couple of generations.

They always shared their thoughts and dreams. They always had Sunday dinner together. They were both happily married, had a couple of kids each and they lived their lives the traditionally way.

But things were about to change.

This one day, about six months ago, they were again talking about their dreams, that they kind of wanted to change their lifestyles, they both wanted their kids to have more opportunities than they had, they wanted them to find something else to do when they grow up, instead of working at the factory.

They had both heard about the guy in town who made a lot of money on the Internet, he drove around in a fancy car, always seemed to have time and money to do the fun things.

So they decided to do some research about how he was able to do that.

Joe didn't skip one day, but Bob, he liked to have a beer and watch TV at night, he didn't want to sit there for 3 hours every night and study. Long before there was a functional Internet where millions of people turn everyday for their purchases of items and information, Bob Edwards was creating a way for people to unite and purchase items and services for discounted rates from major manufacturers and distributors, simply for the cost of being a member of an organization. This concept is no different than what we now call Sam's or Costco. The company eventually evolved into FundAmerica.

The reason for this attack became certain. The Florida comptroller, Gerald Lewis, who was responsible for the false charges being brought against the company and Bob Edwards, would be disgraced in 2003 through an impeachment resolution for accepting campaign cash to overlook problems at failing Florida financial institutions under his direct oversight.

California Attorney General John Van de Kamp stepped forward to assure citizens of his state that he "found that FundAmerica's business model and membership did not violate any state law." Eventually all charges against Mr. Edwards were dropped but the damage had been done. FundAmerica was closed down as the credit card companies that had partnered with FundAmerica to offer their clients rebates and 'points' had taken the idea for their own. Today, nearly every major company uses a points or rewards system, which, they should thank Mr. Edwards for the idea.

Bob Edwards had proven his foresight to develop a system that has been copied and integrated into countless other businesses in the years that followed. His vision and incredible business mind started a new business model that is now used by millions. He went on to develop other very successful businesses and is currently the President and co-founder of Our World Network (OWN) Youth Juice. Why My Friend Bob Could Not Work From Home

Let me tell you how my friend Bob failed working from home and perhaps you don't repeat the same mistakes.

On a regular day, my friend Bob wake up close to midday and turn on the TV while he pour the first coffee on his mug, read the paper (the comic strips and the sport section) and then go to the gym (he doesn't lift weight he just go to see the girls on tights).

After that hour he come back home and take a lunch, then he turn on his computer. He read his mail and click on every single offer he receive and subscribe in every single opt in he sees. Spending about two hours in the process.

Then he takes a nap from about one hour.

After that he grabs a snack and a cold beer, and enters in the forums and spends another two hours reading the latest post and make comments on it.

Then he visits his Facebook account and spends another two hours playing mafia wars and FarmVille. After that another hour is gone in his twitter incursion.

The TV is always on and his messenger always receiving messages from his friends (and of course he answered back). He eat dinner and then sit down in his favorite sofa with a beer and a big bowl filled to the top with pop corns, to watch a movie (or two) and "rest his eyes" from all the hard work he did in front of his computer.

After the movie he sits in front of the computer and notice that is really late for work. So he turns off his computer and goes to bed.

The Work from home system could be great and an ideal situation if you want to spend more time with your family. but you still must remember that is a work, and as such must be take it seriously.

The Excitement Of A New Business

Bob went to a home meeting and he decided to join a company, called X. He was so excited that he couldn't sleep and wanted to start sharing it right away. He made a list of everyone he knows, some of the people on the list are friends he met online. He started calling them the next day.

The Leader

While doing his research, John found Joe. Joe is in the same company. Joe has a strong presence online. He has a fantastic blog with photos with his family, his nice house and car. He also has a lot of good articles giving tips on building a MLM business. John started to think: "Well, Bob is a nice guy. I like him. However, he is new to the business and I am not sure if he can help me achieve success in this business. Joe on the other hand is very successful. If I can follow the exact formula or strategy Joe uses, I can be as successful as him!" Well... guess who will John join?

The Painful Truth

John told Bob that he decided to join Joe. Bob was obviously very upset and angry. He might even quit the business.
