When Good Enough Isn't Good Enough

One of the keys to creating and running a profitable online business is understanding how the Internet has changed the way businesses must present themselves to their prospects and customers.

Online business today is totally different from physical business of the past - just not in the way you might suppose.

Of course age old established and proven small business tactics and strategies still apply. Business targeting, execution, and promotion are still critical. Customer relationships, trusted service, and iron-clad guarantees are still important.

What is totally different about online business is the way a business owner must approach dealing with his customer and prospects. In the online world, consumers hold all the power.

Never before, in the history of free enterprise, have clients had so many choices when it comes to making buying decisions. Throughout the ages, shoppers have been limited in choice by geography (location), very limited product alternatives (the stock on hand), and sparse product recommendations (whatever advertising or the manufacturer says).

Yesterday, shoppers visited a store or two, saw what was available, maybe asked for a clerk's opinion, then made a purchase choice - yes or no. It was all so simple.

Think now about the Internet and how shopping has changed to put all the useful buying information needed right at the fingertips of the customer. Location no longer matters. Limited product alternatives are a thing of the past. Product suggestions, price comparisons, user recommendations, and owner reviews can be easily and instantly accessed by anyone, anywhere.

People now have many, many choices including which vendor they do business with, which products they decide will fit their needs, how much they will spend on a purchase, and how they will pay for their product. Most relish this consumer control. A few who have trouble making decisions hate the fact that so many options are available!

This new power of control that lies with the customer has significant impact upon the merchant.

We have all witnessed firsthand the demise of many businesses over the past decade. One of the main causes of many of the business failures during this time has been the inability of the merchant to quickly adapt to the Internet age of consumer power. Today's wealth of consumer information and limitless options dictates a new and different business owner mindset.

No longer is it good enough to simply be mediocre in customer service, product quality, attention to small business execution, or brand marketing. At one time, consumers were at the mercy of what a few merchants offered. Not any longer!

Shoppers are unrestrained. Nowadays, they won't settle for "good enough" in most instances. They have the ability, for any product, service or vendor, to conveniently review, compare, analyze, scrutinize, discuss and consider the options - all from the comfort of their home computer, laptop or mobile device.

Business owners must recognize and adapt to the shift of purchasing power away from the merchant and now resting securely in the hands of the consumer.

Every day an increasing number of shoppers go online to see what is being said about a product or merchant BEFORE they make a purchase decision. Every type of product and service is scrutinized online, even those that are not typically purchased via computer (like cars, pianos, sailboats, lunch at Burger King, and a haircut at Joe's Barbershop).

Consumers are quickly realizing that "good enough" isn't the only option any longer. They have been empowered to quickly and easily find "the best," "the cheapest," "the highest quality," "the fastest shipping," "the most trusted seller," or whatever other criteria are important at the time.

In today's economy, and with Internet reach, convenience and speed, a merchant's attitude of "good enough" is no longer good enough.

Businesses of every kind, especially Internet businesses, need to brand themselves as very niche targeted, unique, a cut above, best in class, exceptional, and most importantly, "as the only logical choice of the buying customer."

Edgar A. Guest said it best (excerpt from his poem):

"My child, beware of 'good enough,' It isn't made of sterling stuff. It's something anyone can do; It marks the many from the few." His poem finishes... "Who stops at 'good enough' shall find, Success has left them far behind. For this is true of you and your stuff- Only the best is 'good enough.'"

The Importance of Integrity: Building Your Business

Microsoft. Burger King. Duncan Donuts. Macintosh. All of these names carry with them a specific image. Each has succeeded in their own area of business, and those who work for these companies, carry the company's reputation on their sleeve. Others judge employees based on the reputation of their employer. Small businesses have the unique opportunity to create a reputation from the ground up. So how do they do that?

Business owners learn early on to only make the promises they can keep. If they cannot keep the promise, they should not make it. For example, let's say that a small business owner contracts to complete a job by a given date. If he suddenly has an influx of business and cannot keep that due date, the day after that due date he immediately sacrifices his reputation. Customers have the potential to become the home business owner's best and worst advertisers.

Great business owners also realize the importance of standing behind their products. They follow up with their clients and ask specifically about how the product works. Great business owners do not avoid confrontation, because they genuinely care about their clients. They care more about how the product has helped the client than if they make a dollar, because they realize that when they care about their clients, they also boost their reputation and sales potential.

Great business owners will contact their clients on a regular basis and say hello to them in casual settings. If the product is not satisfactory, the business owner seeks a way to make it acceptable and to treat his or her clients fairly with appropriate refunds or financial compensation.

Finally, a great business owner treats all clients fairly. Recently Glenn Beck, a nationally known radio host, visited a watch shop to have his watch repaired. He arrived in non-descript clothing with no great entourage following him. The watch shop owner had no idea who he was, but he gave Glenn Beck the same, personal service he gave all of his customers. Beck was so impressed with the man's demeanor that he gave him a call when broadcasting his next show and visited with him. The man's business phone started ringing off the hook because Beck endorsed. And Beck endorsed him because the business owner had treated him fairly. Those who learn to treat everyone fairly will succeed at business.

As an educational professional, I do elementary school assemblies in states throughout the East and Midwest. School administrators and PTA leaders have tight budgets. They demand the most for their dollar when they schedule a school show. Knowing this, I have worked with teachers and principals, as well as entertainers, to develop programs that meet or exceed state standards and are exciting for the students and teachers, too.

A majority of my clients hire me year after year. They know that I will not only deliver a quality educational school show for their assembly, but that I will arrive early, be professionally dressed and be very flexible to meet their needs. It is not only delivering what I promise, but going the extra mile that makes me number one on their list of educational school show performers. My business is based on my reputation and my reputation is based on integrity and quality.

Small business owners have only their reputations to help them succeed. They do not have the luxury of toting around a company logo that everyone recognizes immediately. However, they also have the luxury of not having to deal with the headaches created by an executive across the country. They determine their business's reputation.

Dennis Regling is widely recognized as the country's best strolling balloon artist. Through personal instruction, classes and his DVD series, Dennis has trained hundreds of people of all ages in this wonderful art form. To hire Dennis for your event, or to host a balloon twisting class, contact Dennis at 1-800-858-5402 or go to: http://www.magicdennis.com If you are interested in a quality science show for your school. go to http://www.greatassemblies.com

Why Not Start a Business During a Recession?

What are the odds for success in starting a business during a recession specially when;

1. the unemployment rate is at 9.7 percent or more
2. foreclosure numbers are at an all-time high
3. and, bankruptcies are absolutely epic in proportions?

On top of that, let's look at the batting average for business start-ups without the conditions mentioned above;

1. Eighty-two percent of small businesses do not get pass five years.
2. One in three shut down in their second year of business.
3. Don't forget that only less than five percent make it the first year.

Not a good statistic at all. No wonder most people never start their own business. Most people think about owning one but never did the first step. Right now, who's crazy enough to start one!

Some experts argue that the absolute best time to start a business is during a recession. Several well-known, highly successful businesses were launched during weakened economies. Burger King got its start during the recession of 1954 and Microsoft got started during a very weak economy in 1975.

Burger king is in the food industry. Recession proof? You bet. People continue to eat irregardless of the economy. There may be belt tightening going on but this business sector continues. Have you heard of value meals lately?

Now, Microsoft is interesting because the internet is just around the corner. Automation for greater productivity is on both in the business sector and at home. Perfect timing, maybe? But they also thrived during the initial phase of the personal computing revolution. Then the internet found its profitability and this company took off like no other. No wonder Bill Gates became one of the richest man on earth.

Starting a business is difficult enough in good economy. It is even harder if not impossible to start one during a recession. However for start-ups willing to defy the odds, there are many advantages to starting a small business during a recession.

Get started and be on your way. Few tips here and how to save money as well.

Start a home-based business. Check network marketing. Investment is less than the cost of a pair of new shoes on most occasions. I don't consider $300 a cost - it's an investment.

Look at opportunities online. Be wise though. Do your homework always.

Keep your 9 to 5. During the day you make a living. Be the best you can be at work or profession. At night you create a lifestyle.

Hire yourself. Do the job if you can. If there's work overload outsourcing works.

Be creative and smart with your money on advertising. Learn how to use the internet effectively. Social networking works. Great examples are at Dell, woot.com and Zappos.com

Buy, lease or rent office space later. See if you can use an empty room some place at home first. Your kitchen is always a good place to start. Or meet others at a local coffee shop. I have seen advertising consultants do business at Starbucks and Kinko's business centers.

Take care of your health. This is one area that's been neglected many times. What good is it if you succeed and not enjoy it when you become sick. Have that exercise routine in place.

We are living in challenging times, those that persevere will eventually make it. Remember that your own resolution to succeed in good times and in bad is more important than any other.

Should you start a business then during a recession? The answer is yours not mine.

Visit Dick Cortes' blog at [http://5kgeek.com]http://5kgeek.com. Read about his running adventures with a social media twist. On occasions, he does product shout outs on what he used before, during and after marathons, etc. On the same blog, find his blurbs on personal development, wealth creation online and any social media finds.

If it Ain't Free, I Don't Want It! A Guideline For Business Opportunity Seekers

Business opportunity seekers, like you and I, are fed up with paying up front for a chance to make some money. I don't care if it only cost $1 to try it, by the time you've tried a few of these offers, you've paid some serious money.

Now don't get me wrong. I am not suggesting that there are no business opportunities which should require up front payments. No one would expect to purchase a McDonald's or Burger King's franchise with no out of pocket costs! My opinion is that any business that (1) requires an investment in assets before you can service your first customer and (2) turns over the control of operations to you is justified in mandating up front payments. Even under these conditions, there should be some guarantees and risk reduction agreements in the arrangement.

On the other hand, if there are no assets to be purchased and the seller boast about the effectiveness of his offer, why should I have to pay up front to try it? If he is afraid that if he shows me the system for free, I will take it and run, leaving him with nothing, then he should design his product or service to allow for his control. In other words, if I am using his system in violation of our agreement, he can cut me off! FINIS! With this type of business opportunity offer, the seller makes money if I make money. If I am netting $1,500 monthly, I wouldn't mind paying $1,000 monthly to the seller. Maybe More! But if I am losing money, I don't want to pay anything up front or otherwise.

Furthermore, who can you trust? If promised a refund, can I trust that it will be paid? When a seller posts testimonials supporting his offer, how do we know that they are genuine? Who are these people? Did they receive any incentives? We just don't know, do we? As a former Certified Public Accountant (CPA), I used to think that if a CPA was hired to audit the sales representations of the seller and provided a public opinion, that we could trust what was presented. Then, I thought, didn't ENRON have CPAs? Didn't Madoff have a CPA? Who can you trust?

I've concluded that the only internet business opportunity for me is one that is entirely free or offers a free trial period. If the business is so successful, why should I have to pay to try it? IF I MAKE MONEY, THE SELLER MAKES MONEY.

IF IT AIN'T FREE, I DON'T WANT IT!

What You Must Do to Achieve Real Financial Freedom

One of the greatest challenges people face in life is inability to meet their financial commitments when they become due. This has become an age long problem especially when employment, a one time source of secure income, is no longer secure due to several huge economic downturns in the world economy. This has resulted in major corporations going out of business and the few that survived the recessions have used all kinds of strategies ranging from down-sizing, right-sizing and rationalization in an attempt to salvage their organizations from collapsing.

I have been a victim of organizational strategic alliances in the past and I can remember how frustrating it was a dedicated employee to be asked by Management to leave his employment for reasons of company's economic justification. When an organization embarks on a staff rationalization arrangement as a strategy to rescue the company from failing, there is usually no guarantee that the best employee would be retained. Guess who usually gets downsized, right-sized and rationalized at these times... YOU!

When I was growing up, the trend of life was usually to go to college, get good grades and get a JOB! Employment was seen as the best way of securing financial security and freedom since most companies would offer contributory pension schemes towards their employee's retirement. With this kind of counseling and advice from parents, most people went to college with a hope to graduate, get a job, make contribution towards pensions and retire. Nobody advised that I could actually establish a business or invest in existing businesses as a better way of securing my financial future.

What does it take to become financially free?

The general idea is that it takes money to make money. Another school of thought says that it takes a good formal education, probably a college degree to become wealthy. In my honest opinion, none of these is capable of creating wealth. If you look at the history of wealthy men around the world, you will discover that majority of them did something different. These include individuals like Ted Turner, founder of CNN; Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Computer; Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft; Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company and Thomas Edison, founder of General Electric. Some of them left school without a college degree and those that obtained college degrees could testify that their wealth has nothing to do with their college training. This is not to say that it is not good to go to college and obtain a degree, but a college certificate is mostly useful for a traditional profession.

The traditional school does not teach you how to become financially free. To achieve financial freedom you have to have a goal and dream which you must personally develop, pursue and achieve. To succeed, it takes a lot of determination and willingness to learn and apply new principles very quickly. Of course, you must be patient, allow yourself time and wait until the combination of your learning and application of new principles begins to produce visible results.

Everybody wants to be wealthy but the difference between those that have achieved wealth and all others lies in the different ways both the wealthy and poor respond to their beliefs, fears, doubts, strengths and weaknesses. The reason you are poor and average is because you usually fall back when things go in the direction you did not expect; that is when the fear of loosing money steps in; and what do you do? The commonest thing average people do at this time is to seek for security. This is not a winning mentality, and if you must switch from your present state of financial insecurity you must chose freedom and pay the price. It is at this point that most people fail because they are usually faced with the urge to go back to their comfort zone; usually their jobs.

If you want to take control of what you do today in order to change your financial standpoint tomorrow, you need to review your present financial position and draw up a plan of action to help you reach your financial destiny. The following considerations may guide you in reviewing your circumstance.

1. Is your present source of finance guaranteed up to 5 years from now?
2. Going by your present circumstances, are you able to adequately provide for yourself
and family in 5 years?
3. Does your income source allow you to live a lifestyle you have dreamt for?
4. Do you spend quality time with your family?

If you have answered 'No' to any of the above questions, you should consider taking immediate action towards investing in your life towards building sustainable income streams for yourself. You must decide on what type of investment opportunities that would become the right vehicle for you to achieve this. I would strongly recommend that you invest in a Business System, and below are the three common ones with a brief description of what each of them entails.

1. A Corporation
2. Franchise
3. Network Marketing

Corporation
This is the most traditional and risky way of developing your own business system. It requires a lot of hard work and commitment to develop and many times than expected fails because of lack of experience on your part. It is common that you may lose 2 to 3 companies before you successfully build one that stands for you.

Franchise
This term is synonymous with McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Burger King or Pizza Hut. It is a system which has already been developed for investors who do not want to, or know how to build their own systems from scratch. Franchising is a good way of starting a business with a 'tested and proven' system. The whole idea of franchising removes an important risk variable from you because even the bank recognizes the importance of a system and are prepared to support it. If you invest in a franchise, you would concern yourself with developing the team that will help you to run the system. However, the cost of buying into a franchise runs into hundreds of thousand Dollars.

Network Marketing
This is sometimes called Multi-Level Marketing or Home Based Business. It is the newest of the three and most suspected by the public due largely to ignorance. Network Marketing System impacts tremendously on people's lives and financial future. All you need to do is buying into an existing system with initial once and for all entry fees as low as between $200 to $300 and start building your business right away. It is designed for you to operate part-time from the comfort of your home, so your cost of running the business in terms of office space, office furniture and office equipment are removed.

I have discovered that in addition to being a sure way to creating sustainable wealth and financial freedom, Network Marketing is a business model that really impacts the lives and finance of people all over the world. In fact, I recommend that you start your journey to financial freedom with a Network Marketing System.

Some of the systems are designed to depend so much on the power of information technology so you do not have to worry about paper work, recording of sales transactions and invoicing. The headaches of calculation of commission and bonuses or processing of orders and delivering of products are removed from the first day of joining. With a little training to get you started by your leaders, you are already in business of making sales.

The desire of everybody is to achieve financial freedom and the pursuit of this goal has led many to discovering personal happiness and family well being. The decision to walk this path is usually a difficult one; but you can download [http://www.rehobothworld.com]3 FREE Training CDs that will show you how to succeed in any Home Based Business. It is not an easy life's path but the price at the end is usually worth the journey.

If your ambition is to succeed in business and live a lifestyle of your dream, opt-in to our [http://www.rehobothworld.com/workwithnkem.aspx]Business Mentoring Program Now, and we will work with you to choose a business system that will enable you to live your dream.

7 Steps to Starting Your Own Virtual Business on a Shoe-String

Unemployment is relentless. Jobs are nowhere to be found. Banks are not lending money. Credits are getting shuttered. There is no equity in our houses...so what is one to do?

Start your own virtual business! Ironically the greatest entrepreneurial opportunities are created during downturns of the economy. According to a report from Challenger, Gray & Christmas, in the second quarter of 2009, 8.7% of job seekers gained employment by starting their own businesses!

Some great examples of companies that started during a recession are:

Hyatt Corp: Started its operations during the Eisenhower recession (1957-58)

FedEx: began its operations during the recession of 1973

CNN: Started during the brutal recession of the '80s

MTV: Born during the economic chaos of 1981

Burger King: Born during the recession of 1957

GE: Born during the cruel 6-year recession of 1873

Sure, it sounds easier said than done. You may be thinking you need gazillion of dollars, a business plan, investment funding, credit lines, an office, employees, furniture, and on and on and on...what if I told you that is not true. What if I showed you, you can actually start a virtual business with little to no money?

Here are the seven steps you need to take, to start your own business on a shoe-string:

Start a Virtual Business: This means working from your home and all you need is a computer and internet connection. By creating a virtual business you can provide self-service for your clients and a centralized knowledge base for your employees (when you are ready to hire them).

Get FREE Open Source Applications: The cost to entry is very low; you don't have to pay anything for them. A virtual business allows you to digitize your operations, and eliminate inefficiencies and duplicity.

Market Online: the marketing channels available today are endless! Social media, blogs, forums, articles, and on and on...and all for FREE!

Sell Globally: Overnight, you will have access to clients all over the world, and you don't have to spend an extra penny trying to get them.

Install Virtual Communication Channels: Setting up virtual phones, faxes, chats, etc (by the way, most of them for free or at very little cost), will help you communicate with your clients and vendors from the comfort of your own home.

Be Up and Running in Days, or Even Hours: A virtual business allows you to have your business up and running in no time. You no longer have to worry about borrowing funds to cover rent, utility bills, furniture or any of those old world necessities

Manage Your New Virtual Business Remotely: You no longer have to worry about daycare, or nannies, or missing that important school field trip. A virtual business will allow you the freedom to run your business and have a life too!

Network Marketing - To Succeed Or Not to Succeed? That is the Question

Questions that you may have

What makes a network marketer successful? What makes them fail? Is mindset that important? Can any one do network marketing? Who is your worst enemy in MLM? I want to share all this with you and then some. I want to help people see the ups and downs to MLM.

Well first lets talk about what the best thing in my opinion about Network Marketing. This would have to be the fact that you are your own boss. Meaning you can decide when to work, how much to work, where to work. You have complete control over all this. But there comes a price to pay for being your own boss. First you don't have to get up and a set hour. You don't have to work and get payed by the hour. You don't have to listen to some one above you. Great right? Well not necessarily. You see that means there's no one there to get on you. You don't have the same kind of drive you would have if you worked at burger king. You don't have that nagging in your ear about some thing so you have to nag at your self. This is harder than it would seem, mainly because we are not taught how to do this. We are taught that if we don't get a good education and get to work on time we wont have a pay check. So we have to learn how to motivate yourself. Which brings me to topic 2.

Your worst enemy. This is YOU. You are your worst enemy because of 2 things. One you will probably do 1 of 2 things. One, be to nice to your self. Example. "Its ok Jane we didn't do any thing today but there always tomorrow". Jane goes to bed. Alarm goes off 8 hours later. Jane looks up at it and turns it off and tells her self, "Ill get up in the next 30 minutes". Then the same thing acquires 30 minutes later. The problem with this is you don't have that drive to get up even though you know you should. You have to force your self to get up and do stuff. You have to get on your own butt about doing some thing. Then there's number two. This one can be just as bad. Example. "Darn it Jane why do you ALWAYS say some thing stupid now we cant even get his done WAY TO GO, mess up more why don't you". See you don't want to be to hard on your self or you could have a similar effect in the sense you lose the drive do to making your self depressed. These are in my opinion the two biggest things that make a network marketer fail. Now lets move on to topic 3.

Now then lets talk about mindset. This is HUGE in network marketing, and can make you or break you. Alot of people get jazzed up when they first get into network marketing. They say how there gonna get all these people to sign up and how there going to help out there family and have there parents retire. These are all great, and there good for putting you on a path to success. But unfortunately its not always enough. Some times and I have seen this more often than not, a person will tell MANY people about there business and get rejected by ever single one. This puts the person in a state of questioning. They start to doubt that they can succeed in network marketing. I my self went through having people tell me no. In fact I didn't make a penny for the first 6 months in my first MLM business. But I still believed that MLM worked. The reason I believed it did is because I talked to others in the business and I had seen there paychecks I had seen how it worked for others just not me, I had probably the WORST luck but i was determined.

Now lets get back on track. See if you can get your self ion the right mind set you cant fail cause you wont let your self fail. If some one handed you an axe and said go look for gold you would probably tell them to jump off a bridge cause who can just DIG up gold now days. But what if some one told you if you went in this mine and dug that eventually you would find gold, and maby they showed you a graph proving that there was gold down there. Only thing is they didn't now where they just knew it was down there, wouldn't you dig and dig and dig till you found it o.O? Of course well network marketing is no different. Except for the fact that even though we know it works we give up because of set backs and what not. You have to put your self in the right mindset and if you do this and NEVER give up you can succeed. This is what makes it so that ANY ONE can do network marketing as long as you are willing to learn and go the distance you will succeed. Now then lets move on to some thing else.

There is another thing that I want to share with you guys. Some times the reason you may not be have alot of success or none at all could be because of the kind of MLM your in there are many out there. Some that sell knives, some that sell makeup, wellness products, some sell services like the one I am in, GDI or Global Domain International. The point I am trying to make is when you chose a MLM, try to chose one that fits you. I chose GDI for 3 reasons, one its VERY inexpensive, two it has much credibility, and three its online. Now I want to point out for me I have been in 2 others and the first one for me was too expensive, now what i mean is not that it was to expensive for me to do, but that it was to expensive to ask others to sign up for, and I don't like taking peoples money that they don't have to give. But you could in sense earn ALOT more money in the long run with it but personally, that business was just not right for ME. Now I am not saying go find your self a tone of MLM and try them all no i mean think about the kind of person you are and make your decision based on that.

I Hope you found this article useful also if you are interested in GDI you can get more info by clicking on my website [http://what-we-deserve.ws/]http://what-we-deserve.ws

Sincerely, Edward Mahler
