How to Set Up Recurring Payments Using PayPal

There are 2 options to create a recurring payment. You can create a 'subscribe' button and put it on your website, or send a link in an email. I chose option 2 because I didn't want a 'subscribe' button on my website, as it really didn't below there.

So, here are the instructions for setting up recurring payments through PayPal, via an email link. This worked for me, and hopefully it will work for you:

Go into Merchant Service from PayPal. Click 'Subscribe' under 'Create Buttons' column. For 'Button Type', select 'Subscriptions, which should be the default. For 'Item Name', I made it the name of the business I was billing.

The 'Subscription ID' is totally optional. I just made it 000001. For 'Customize Buttons', LEAVE THEM ALL UNCHECKED. THIS WAS MY BIG MISTAKE BECAUSE EVERY TUTORIAL I READ SAID TO CHECK THE TEXT BOX. DON'T DO IT. If you do, you won't get any code to be sent in an email, and that is what you want most.

For 'Billing Amount', put the amount you want billed each month. For 'Billing Cycle', enter '1' and select 'month', assuming you bill monthly. (The date of withdraw will be whichever day your advertiser pays the bill the first time. So to avoid confusion, you may want to send this email the day you typically request payment.) If you bill quarterly, select '3' and select 'month'. I do not believe there is an option to state which day of the month you would like payment.

Select 'never' for when the billing should stop if you have an ongoing agreement with the person. Select 'use my secure merchant ID' at the bottom. Click 'create button'. (You do not need to do anything with steps 2 and 3.) That will take you to your code. The top tabs will say 'website' and 'email'. You want to cut and paste the 'email' code and send it in as an email link. (Just cut and paste exactly as it is.)

Following these instructions should greatly reduce the amount of time you have to spend billing your customers, and reduce the amount of time they have to spend paying you.

Home Business Tips - Some Things You Can't Prepare For

The other day, I got a phone call from a guy who was referred to me by my PC technician. I hate working on PCs. I'd rather eat dirt. But I'm pretty handy with web design, since this was my first skill learned many years ago before I became a marketer. Anyway, this person wanted me to do something very simple for him. He wanted me to insert a PayPal donation button on his donations page. I figured, "Great!...This will take all of 10 minutes." Boy...was I wrong.

After getting his hosting info so I could log into the site and make the changes, I discovered that he was using Verizon's Sitebuilder to design his site. You guessed it. He knew nothing about HTML. Well, that shouldn't have been a problem except for one very quirky thing about Verizon's Sitebuilder. It does NOT allow you to modify the HTML of any of the pages. No way to insert a PayPal donation button into the code.

Well, after beating my brains out for about two hours and a phone call with support that I am sure will make them glad they will never hear from me again, I figured out a workaround. I contacted the customer, told him what it would be and explained why it had to be done this way, and he agreed. I then made the changes necessary. It's not the ideal situation, but given Verizon's convoluted editor (don't EVER build a site using it) there was no other option.

Now, there is no way I could have been prepared for this. Designing a custom page would have taken days and a lot more than the customer would have wanted to spend. So this was the only option. Point is, when things like this happen, you have to look at the situation realistically. It doesn't matter what you'd LIKE to do. You have to look at what you CAN do and then present your customer with his options. Yes, you may lose the sale or job. But trying to fit a square peg into a round hole NEVER works.

Yes, some things you just CAN'T prepare for.

How to Generate MLM Leads With the Facebook Share Button

Somewhere along the way I had NOT added the "Facebook Share Button" to my blog until recently.

If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at right? That is exactly what I had to do when I realized that I had forgotten to add the "Facebook Share" plugin to a recent 2 part series of posts that I created about the top Wordpress Plugins for Internet marketers.

Since I don't want this little plugin to feel all left out - I'm dedicating this article to the Facebook Share button - and specifically how you can use it to learn how to Generate MLM Leads from Facebook.

What It Does...

If you already have the TweetMeMe button (which I've had since the beginning of my blog) then the Facebook kind of completes the formula for for helping to generate more traffic and leads from the two largest social interaction sites on the net.

That is, unless you've already got too many leads and too much web traffic. You were probably rolling around in honey and then rolled in $100 bills last night just so you could see how many you could get to stick to you.

In that case, just pass this article on to your friends and get back to rolling in your money.

How To Install Your Facebook Share Button:

1. Login to your Wordpress dashboard.

2. Click on the "Plugins" tab on the far left and then"Add New".

3. This will open a new section with a search bar that says "Search Plugins".

4. Type: "Facebook Share (New)". This is the one I am currently using. You can click on the title name and it will send you to an information page about the plugin itself.

5. You can actually click the "Download" button here which will download the zip file for the Facebook Share Button. Unzip the file on your desktop. Make sure you know where it is. Then simply upload the file to your webhost. You'll need your passwords for your webhost. And you'll have to have a basic knowledge of how to upload files to your webhost to do this but it's really easy if you've done that before.

OR

6. Instead of clicking on the Download button and doing all of that work, stay on the Search page that lists the "Facebook Share (New)" plugins, and simply click the "Install" link on the far right after the rating stars. This will download the plugin directly to your Wordpress blog.

7. Activate the Facebook Share plugin by going to the "plugins" link in your Worpress dashboard. Just find the plugin in your list and click the "Activate" button.

8. Now, to cofigure the Facebook Share plugin (which you'll need to do before you are able to activate the plugin) go over to the far left, and you will see the "facebook Share" section just above the TweetMeMe section.

9. This is where you will go in and play with the settings and configure what you want your button to look like, where you want the button to sit in your posts, etc.

10. Analytics. There's a cool option below the settings link called "Analytics". This is where you will be able to track how people are using your Facebook Share Button. As network marketers, we should always be testing and researching our marketing. This analytics section will show you which posts of yours are getting shared, how many clicks you're getting from the button, and other cool data.

Now, I'm not saying this to try and distract you from marketing, BUT I feel that this is a necessary plugin that you need on your blog posts. If you're looking at increasing your blog traffic and monetizing the posts to generate more MLM leads from that traffic, then you need the Facebook Share button

Newbie Disappointment

Usual newbie rabbit, caught in the headlights. Trouble was,my optimism was not matched by the actual online success thing. You know the 'magic button' that you're led to believe in.

Thing is though that for some, the magic button does exist apparently. The bit you don't know at the beginning is that the 'magic button' is built on the very top of a humongous pile of hard, FOCUSED work.

The operative word here is FOCUSED

If you do like I did, you'll be flitting from this to that and basically achieve nothing.This is a great way for you to lose money quickly and make lots of money for the guys who sell these products.

You must of heard the comment that 'you make your money when you sell your own products!'
