Working From Home - What a Mess

It has always been a question of mine as to why companies pay utility costs, building maintenance, mortgages or rent, rental of computers, phone lines, etc... when they could just have people work from home?

It seems simple enough, really. Almost everyone has at least once computer and a cell phone. Most people that are willing to work also have a place to call home, a roof, power, phones, and so on. If a company were to outsource to at home workers, it would certainly save money and increase profits.

I have been looking in to working from home for some time now and I find it appalling. Working from home obviously has its benefits, at least in theory.

A recent webinar I attended had me excited. Finally, a realistic opportunity to work from my home. No commute, set my own hours, have all the luxuries of home to occupy my mind on breaks and at lunch. It sounds great, and indeed it would be, but it seems there are many costs associated with working from home.

You need a POTS, or plain old telephone service to work a customer service job. That isn't a huge investment, but it is an extra expense each month I don't need. You also need a headset that can hook up into a USB port, and an additional noise cancelling headset to hook up to your phone from the wall. How about a background check? An assessment fee? Yes and Yes. Paid Training. I suppose the answer is yes if you're asking does the company you'll be working with require you to pay for training. So far, I have heard nothing about the job opportunities, but the fees are stacking up. I have never had to pay to find a job. I can see paying a fee from each check, which, by the way, is also part of the deal, but having to pay for a test, a background check and training? No, way. The real kicker here is that you have to be available during the training hours for the training you just paid for, and while there are evening training hours, many of us get home from our dead end jobs, tired and worn out. Who wants to train for nothing when they could be catching up on the latest Family Guy on Netflix?

The sundae is topped by the fact that these jobs pay less than what I make at my current job, which paid for my background check, drug screen, training and assessment. So ultimately, the opportunity wasn't worth the 15 minutes I spent listening to this presentation.

I have decided to take a different route by looking into affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is basically like a beehive. You have the main company, the queen bee, then all the drones sent out to gather the honey for the queen. The best part of it is, you get paid when the company gets paid. Not a bad deal when you consider that your paycheck is always a week behind your pay period.

I think working from home is a dream that may never die for me, and the idea that even replacing my current income with hair brained ideas from home would be enough for me. I'm not trying to get rich, but I definitely want to have my own life back.

I will keep researching the work from home ideas like the one I found recently and report back as to how it is going.

How To Use 411

411 has become a part of everyday culture. So much so that the service is now urban slang for "information" or "hot gossip." But what exactly is 411? If you don't already know, this explanation should put you in the picture.

The system originally existed as a telephone service. The service would be able to give you directory assistance and information on the location and telephone number of a business and person.

This task used to be handled completely by an operator. But now the initial call is directed to an automated service that can filter your call to the specific department. This helps to speed up the process and get you the answer you need faster.

411 is also available online. With the rapid rise of emailing and the decline in telephone conversations, 411 had to adapt. The website provides exactly the same service you can expect from the telephone. The only difference is that the online version is faster and more convenient than using the phone service.

A unique service is the reverse 411. This gives you the ability to find out the owner of a phone number and their location. This service comes attached with a fee and is available both online and on the phone. Be aware that this service is only available for phone numbers that are listed. The location of unlisted numbers will not be revealed.

This gives you the power to detect and trace a person who is harassing you on the telephone. This also lets you confirm the identity of someone who has contacted you regards a business opportunity.

Say for example, you receive an unexpected call from a number claiming to be your bank. They may inform you that your account has been jeopardized and that they require your details to resolve this issue. If you have no evidence that this is the case or the caller wants your pin number; hang up the call. Dial the reverse 411 number and you will be able to find the location and business name of the number and the truth will be revealed. By the way, no bank will ever ask you for you pin number in a phone conversation, so never surrender it.

The convenience and service of 411 can be a lifesaver when you are out and lost with your cell phone. They can tell you the location and address or a friend or business, which will make your life run a little smoother and take out some of the stress.

Jennifer R. Scott has been writing for over ten years on a broad range of topics. She has a background that includes such diverse areas as environmentalism, cooking, animal care, and technology. If you would like more information on [http://www.goto411.com/]411, please visit this site.

Making Money Online For Beginners - Are You Certain That You Are Ready For This?

Making money online for beginners is so much more than just learning how to build a blog and smash some adverts on it. Are you sure you're ready for this? It might turn your life upside down.

Are you ready for a tour on the roller coaster?

Warning: Learning how to make money online could change your life.

Last night, I was playing an online game with some friends. One of them mentioned that we had all been working late, and I said that truth to be told, I didn't get up until 11AM, so I only had myself to blame for that.

"Oh, you're lucky," he replied.

In fact, this has little to do with luck, and a lot with planning and taking action.

More than ten years ago, I decided that I would make a living online. The first couple of years, I was starving, because I had no one around to teach me how to do. I had to figure it all out for myself, and believe me: I made tons of mistakes!

Oh, I still do, by the way.

However, I am very grateful for the lifestyle, I've been able to obtain, thanks to what I've learnt about making money online.

It takes work. Even lots of work, in fact. Don't believe people who tell you that they are dazing on the beach all day, and just checking their bursting bank account every now and then.

You have to saw before you can harvest.

On the other hand, the work you have to do can be very pleasant. You decide yourself, what you want to do within your abilities.

A part of making money online for beginners is to learn how to perform self-discipline. At one point, you must decide when to get up and start working. You also have to plan how many hours you want to work per day or per week. And "work" doesn't include chatting with friends, or hanging out on Facebook.

A huge part of getting started is to plan ahead.

Next, you have to learn. Today, it's easy to find information, even for beginners. There's no need to commit the same errors that others have done, when you can learn from their mistakes.

When you're starting to make money, you will soon have to face a huge decision: Should you quit your day job or stay?

Only you can answer that question. Others can merely offer advice. My experience has been that you're much more motivated to make money, when you know that you can only rely on yourself to do so.

Actually, I'm convinced that you can learn a lot from my own experience. I started out in a foreign country, not knowing the language and, just by working two hours per day on one specific domain, I designed a home page that earns me well over $1,000 per month on autopilot.

You can copy my system, and receive a myriad of money making ideas when you obtain my exact blueprint of How I went from Zero to More Than $1,000 Per Month for free at =] http://getmoneymakingideas.com/free.html

Tips for Running a Home Based Bookkeeping Business

Running a bookkeeping business from home is great for those people who want to have more control over the hours they work, for people who want to start their own business but have a limited amount of funds, and for mums who want to return to work after having children but who want to work around their childcare responsibilities. Before starting your business you will need to receive the right training, but there are plenty of finance courses available.

Training and Planning

Getting proper training before you start your business is vital. There are courses available in bookkeeping, such as a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping). This will ensure you have the necessary skills to run a successful business. You will also need to do some research and planning before you start your business. Write a thorough business plan before you begin. There are many books available on writing business plans, and you can find templates online. Work out where you are going to have your office and make sure you have all the necessary equipment, such as a proper desk, a comfortable office chair, a good computer, a filing cabinet, a fax machine and you may even want to install a second phone line that is just for business use.

Marketing

You will find clients everywhere, as anyone who runs a business, both large and small, needs a bookkeeper. You will also find that your clients can come from anywhere due to the ease of keeping in contact via computers and email. Do some cold calling, have business cards printed and advertise in your local newspaper. Advertising can be expense but you will need to do it otherwise you won't have any clients. Share the cost of advertising by finding another business in a complimentary line of work and have brochures printed with both your details on it. Sponsor a local football team or put a notice in the local school newsletter.

Time Management and Organisation

Learning to be efficient and having good time management and organisational skills is vital to running a successful business. Learn not to spend too much time on each job as you will get bogged down. Time is money, and you will find that if you are organised you will cut back on time spent on each client. Have your office organised so that you can work efficiently and smoothly. Good time management skills are important too. Set yourself a daily plan of what you are going to get done. Make sure you answer emails between a certain time, as these can slow you down, and don't get caught out wasting time browsing the Internet, remember even though you are at you home you are working. Have a daily start and finish time, just as you would if you went to an office to work, and let others know that between certain times of the day you are working. If you have young children at home you may find that you need to put them in childcare or have a babysitter look after them while you are working.

How to Share A Compelling "Story of You" On Your Website

Your clients want to know you. In the offline world, you would invite a good client out to lunch or coffee, and in the online world you can do almost the same... even better!

Building an online business in today's new economy places you in a highly competitive marketplace, yet those who understand how to enjoy rapport with their clients will prosper. Building relationship and trust online takes time and effort but you will be rewarded richly!

Establishing rapport is best done in relational story form. Your auto-responders, newsletters, and blog posts should all be written in a relational form, as if you are talking conversationally to your ideal client in their own language.

Would you like to know how to set yourself apart from all the hundreds of thousands of online competitors?

Knowing how to craft a compelling story about you (not just your products, services, and business) will give you the edge over other marketers in your niche.

There's a common saying, "Facts tell and stories sell." In the New Economy nothing could be more true!

Stories are the relational super glue that bond families, marriages, organizations, and nations!

Here are some key tips in crafting a compelling "story of you" online:

Let them see and/or hear you! You can use videos, audio, and photos to offer clients a peek into your world. People want to see your face and they want to know who you're connected to and what you're interested in. It's kind of like inviting them into your kitchen for coffee. This is part of your brand.

Share from your heart... be unique! Don't be an "imitation" of someone else, no matter how much you wish you were! It just won't come across as genuine and you will turn clients away.

Share your unique selling proposition: What is the reader going to get from visiting your site? Be direct. What is the problem you are solving in a way that sets you apart from everyone else?

Include the "story of you"... a brief life story:

Today's best business coaches, such as Sandi Krakowski and Dani Johnson, begin their seminars by sharing their life stories. It's normally very brief and to the point... no fluff! The purpose is to come alongside your client so she can identify immediately with who you are and will be open to embracing what you have to say.

Include a few key points about your life. Be transparent. You don't have to embarrass yourself, but be real. Know what your ideal client is thinking about, talking about, and is wanting. Talk about those things in your own life story and you will build instant rapport. Let them know you understand how it feels to be in their shoes!
Share a low point in your life... one that you have overcome. Share your journey and your successes. Your ideal client will connect with you and be inspired! It might be a weight problem, financial challenges.... basically, where you hit "rock bottom" and how your life turned around. What is the urgent, pressing problem you are addressing for them... and how you found the unique solution that no one else has. Keep it personal and don't be a salesperson.
Share your vision... why you're doing what you're doing. What will happen is that your ideal client will feel a strong connection to you. They're going to say, "I feel the same! Show me how I can be part of what you're doing!"
Share a clear call to action... whether it's your free gift, a newsletter, or whatever you want them to do. You want them to opt-in so that you can continue connecting with them.

Use BOLD to stand out. Break up your text. Use short paragraphs. People like to skim and if there is a lot of text, long paragraphs, and complex wording they're going to check out early and not read through. Mix a few photos in. This is true for all online writing, by the way!

Now, here's the only hard part... If you're like many people, writing the story of you is a little tougher than writing about someone else! The majority of people strongly dislike writing about their own lives.

Do you feel uncomfortable writing about your life? Does it seem like a daunting task to begin putting the pieces of your life together in such a way that you are genuine and real to others without being embarrassed?

The biggest challenge I have been hearing from my clients is that they feel their story is not interesting... or that if people really knew them it would turn clients away.

My recommendation is to hire a professional copy writer who specializes in life stories. Building trust online is essential and learning how to properly share your life story is a vital component to online success!

Google Analytics Is Your Pal

Google Analytics is not only an excellent Net tool, but it's also cost-free. You can observe targeted traffic to your side and may view helpful trending and browsing habits. Nevertheless, in order to receive the most from Google Analytics you need to learn how to make use of all of their tricks. So that it is helpful you need to completely understand the monitoring characteristics and how to create the custom-made reports you'll want to keep track of all the different items on your own individual radar.

Google Analytics tracking is quite powerful, not only does it enable you to enhance your internet site by monitoring inside clicks, however, you also can see who is clicking on precisely what advertisements. Need to enhance AdSense and AdWords tracking? Presently there are usually websites on the market with cut and paste coding (totally free, by the way) that will enable you to definitely track AdSense clicks by developing another "goal" inside the GOAL URL area. How about Twitter and Facebook? When you are Google Analytics URL Builder smart you can set it up to find out just how frequented your website with a "tweet".

The neat thing about this software is that it's long been out long enough to get program code for just about everything. As an example, if you wish to check out which pictures people click on. Google Image search will provide you with reference URL's that Google Analytics isn't too happy with and does not connect it with a "keyword". Nonetheless, individuals have written JavaScript innovations to make this possible. Do searching and you'll find the code.

If you want to trace Flash then there is a component referred to as: Google Analytics Tracking for Adobe Flash. It makes it quite simple to implement Display tracking in Google Analytics. This portion was in fact put together by Adobe and possesses the required features of the Google Analytics JavaScript code.

While we're talking about plug-ins, there exists a "Social Media Metrics Greasemonkey Plugin" that may instantly draw social media marketing in to the Google Analytics Content Detail records and it contains hyperlinks to the social media internet websites. It will also take in data from Digg, Reddit, Mixx, and Del.icio.us. Presently there are plug-ins for iPhones, Firefox, Googledocs, as well as plugins for Python code. In fact, when you read this you will see plugins for anything!

Not necessarily, however close.

Regarding simple pageview and visitor tracking I see Google dominating the market industry instantly... considerably impacting the market share of services for example Site Meter. Much more interesting in my experience is when Google could utilize this brand new data. For example, Google could increase pageview and special website visitor data to its search algorithm in order to better determine website recognition and "Web Attention". This is more trustworthy than PageRank because it can't be SEO'ed to artificially blow up a websites popularity. Connecting facts are nothing when compared to the real data Google could have on websites online making use of Google Analytics. If websites employ this program in en masse this could be a revolutionary switch to their search algorithm.

Understanding the complete breadth of Google Analytics is essential. It enables you to develop custom reports, and deliver web development and internet marketing to an entirely different degree. [http://www.mindgamemarketing.com]Video Marketing is actually a scheme which facilitates and encourages people to pass along marketing video clips about services and products available. This could be successfully done by using [http://mindgamemarketing.com/social-media-marketing/]Social Media Marketing, a great method that provides links, attention as well as huge numbers of page views by advertising your website or organization through social media channels.

Ideas for Promoting Your Home Business

Starting a home based business is exciting and it can be very rewarding. It can also be very frustrating. Once you have developed your product or service and set the business up, it can be difficult to know how to make contact with customers. This is especially difficult without the money that major corporations can spend on television and billboard advertising. There are a number of things you can do to promote your home business, however, that won't break the bank. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Network

Networking is extremely important as you develop your fledgling business. Every time you meet a new person, you have an opportunity to develop a client. This doesn't mean you should constantly talk business at every social event, but it does mean being prepared. So make sure you are receptive to any potential opening and carry your business cards at all times. Don't try making business cards yourself. Professional quality business card printing is not very expensive and it may be a clich but it is certainly true that you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Website

These days consumers expect to be able to check out your business on the internet, so having your own website is very important. It doesn't have to be flashy but it does need to be well designed and functional. Keep it simple and of high quality and it will probably end up being one of your most important business tools. Depending on the nature of you operation, you may well also use your website for transactions as well, so it is likely to become a central part of your business.

Social networking

Conventional advertising, such as television and billboards, is expensive and consequently it is out of reach as far as most home businesses are concerned. Fortunately though there is a new kid on the block. In recent years social networking tools, such as facebook, youtube and twitter have been used as marketing tools with increasingly great affect. This is ideal for the home business owner as it can provide great exposure for minimal cost. So, if you're not already social networking, it's time to start.

Branding

Branding is just as important for the home business owner as it is for multinational corporations. Having a consistent brand across your products demonstrates that you are a serious and cohesive business. Use your brand on your website, as well as all advertising, stationary and business cards. You can also create giveaway items such as pens, calendars and mouse mats. Make sure these include your logo and branding. The more people see it the more likely they are to turn to you automatically when they need the service that you provide.

Printed materials

With the advent of e-technology it can be easy to lose sight of the value of traditional print technologies. The truth is that the two work best hand in hand with each other. E-technologies allow for quick and easy distribution, but in the end people are still more likely to read and take notice of something that is printed on card or paper. So don't ignore flyer or booklet printing when drawing up your marketing budget. Flyers, brochures and booklets are a simple but effective way to get your message across.

How To Run a Greener Business

As increasingly wild and unpredictable weather patterns wreak havoc all over the world, more and more people are taking in interest in climate change and mankind's impact upon the environment. This not only means that running a greener company is environmentally responsible, but also that it makes sound business sense. There are many ways that you can reduce the environmental impact of your organisations activities, from eliminating unnecessary travel to using a greener booklet printing company. The key is to take an organised and comprehensive approach. These ideas will get you moving in the right direction.

Minimise unnecessary travel

Travel is a significant cause of environmental pollution and business is major contributor in this area. Analyse your travel habits and those of your staff. Is it all really necessary? Sometimes of course you need to meet with someone face to face, but often people do it simply out of habit or convention. Where possible, make use of alternative means of sharing ideas, such as virtual conferencing and save the travel for when it is absolutely vital.

Consider work from home arrangements

Travel while at work is of course only part of the story. Every day huge amounts of energy are used, and pollution created, as all your staff commute to and from the office. Increasingly people are seeking out flexible work arrangements such as working from home, either part or full time. If you are open to such ideas, not only will you improve company morale by helping your employees to find a better work/life balance, but you will also be reducing the impact your business has on the environment. It is a win-win situation.

Encourage your staff to contribute

If your new greener approach to business is going to be successful, you will need to have your staff on board, as they are the ones who will have to implement the new regime. It is a good idea, therefore, to encourage your employees to contribute ideas and to take ownership of the scheme. Being an environmentally friendly organisation is something to be proud of and if your staff feel that they are responsible for the success of this new approach, they are far more likely to get behind it.

Tackle printing

Paper and ink are used in huge quantities in business, so how you deal with them is pivotal to the success of your environmental initiative. As well as considering how you deal with in house paper usage and printing, it is important also to consider materials that are produced for you externally. Choosing a company that has green options for things like booklet and business card printing shows your commitment and will enhance your environmental credentials.

Create and implement an environmental policy

There are many different ways to reduce the environmental impact of your business and it can be very easy to concentrate on some and completely forget about others. A systematic approach is a good idea therefore. Creating and implementing an environmental policy that covers all aspects of your business and its operations will ensure that you don't leave any obvious gaps and that every employee knows their responsibilities.

How to Start Your Own Home-Based Business Today

Starting your own home-based business can seem daunting, but with hard work, self-belief and a sense of adventure the potential rewards are great. Every great business starts with a good idea, but once you have taken the plunge and decided to bring your idea to the market, the success of your business will depend on how you develop it. The methods you use to promote your product or service will play a big part in its success. Employing the services of brochure and booklet printing specialist could help give your business the edge.

The idea

A good business idea can be an elusive thing. It is very difficult to come up with one on demand. The key is to make sure that you are observant and receptive at all times. It may be that an idea comes from within the workplace. Employees have a great insight into the methods of a company and if they see practices that they disagree with, they might be prompted to develop a completely new way of doing things. They will also know if certain customer needs are not being met and may decide that they can fill the void. The consumers themselves, unable to find the product or service that they need, might see a gap in the market. If research indicates that other people share the same need then this could form the basis of a business idea.

The hard yards

An idea is just the beginning of a very long road. Before a business can get off the ground there is a lot of work to be done to establish whether the idea can be developed. Only then, once you are confident that your product or service is something that people will pay for, are you in a position to start your business. And that's when the hard yards begin. Thomas Edison famously said, "Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration". It is well worth remembering this point. Your good idea gives you the chance to create a home-based business, but unless you are prepared to work very hard to develop, improve and maintain the quality of your product or service, you cannot expect lasting success. Passion and drive are the keys, if you are to turn a good idea into a successful business.

The promotion

Developing a good product or service is only half the battle; you need to think about how you will let people know about your business and what you can do for them. Word of mouth is important, so use whatever contacts you have to spread the word, but this is not enough on its own. More formal methods of promotion, such as flyers, brochures and booklets are a good idea. Use them to tell the public what makes your product different or to explain what unique services you provide. Business cards are important too. Take every opportunity to hand them out to business contacts, particularly potential clients. It is no use having a great product or service that nobody knows about, so this part of your business is critically important. Make sure you use a company that specialises in brochure and business card printing to ensure your promotional material is of the highest quality. Do this and you will be well on your way to a successful home-based business.
