Farmers Markets: It's Not All Fruits and Veggies

There is a revolution occurring at farmers markets today. They no longer sell just fruits and vegetables, but honey, butter for the local dairy farmer, Artisan breads, carrot cake, cupcakes, cookies, pies, jams, jellies and pickled okra and bamboo shoots. The unique variety of products available is endless.

If you are interested in selling homemade baked goods or family recipes at your local Farmers Market, stay abreast of food trends by using Goggle Alerts to locate what's hot and what's not. What was a huge seller last year may not be this year and although people loved those butter-cream topped cupcakes last year they may be seeking smaller versions this year; cutting back to help both their health and wallet.

If you are a home-based baker, baking Artisan breads; you might want to consider offering value-added items, such as homemade jams, jellies and fruit butters. Remember though, some value added products can be costly, so select accordingly and consider selling your products both individually and as a pair. There are also numerous legal restrictions that need to be followed before selling your value-added product; you may have to use a incubator or licensed commercial kitchen facility so check with your state/local regulator agency.

Every food processor should also note that a Farmers Market is not always the best location to sell every type of food product. People who visit and make purchases at local farmers market are looking for bargains. They are not interested in paying an exorbitant amount for a gourmet pound cake, custom cookies or homemade chocolate truffles. For example, pumpkin pies may be your favorite baked good; unfortunately, no one may want them on a sunny spring day in April. The venue (a farmers market) may be the perfect location, but the product does not represent what consumers want. You might fair better selling your oatmeal raisin bars, or gluten-free coconut butterscotch cookies, priced at 2-3 for $3.95-4.95. These are products farmers market attendees can eat while strolling through the market or stick in their purse for an afternoon snack.

The bottom line, before deciding to sell your home-based bakery products at any Farmers Market do your homework and check out what others are selling. You do not have to sell the same thing, but think about what folks might want to purchase. Do your food products compliment other goods being sold at the market? If you are out selling on a Saturday, would a miniature pecan coffee cake be something consumers might pick up for Sunday morning coffee before church; or something they would take to an ailing friend? Farmers Markets are great places to sell your goods if you selling what consumers want.

Making Diaper Cakes for Profit

These fun and whimsical "cakes" tend to bring smiles to people's faces from baby showers to first birthdays and even baptisms. If you are interested in learning how to make these alternative cakes, then there is a step by step video that will give you the chance to do just that.

One of the first questions most people will likely have with this product, is how will I be able to get the format down with simple text? This seems like something that needs a visual! That won't be a problem since there is a video that has been created to teach you how to make this remarkable cake and have it done with step by step instructions that couldn't be clearer. In fact, since you can watch the entire process and have verbal instructions given to you, it is possible to go along and learn all there is about making this cake with no surprises.

Of course, for each event there will also need to be a different type of cake. While many people will find one basic design cute, that might lose its charm by the 10th round. Because of this, the makers of the diaper cakes design have taken the steps to bring you several different options. From a smooth and simple standard white diaper cake, that uses rolled diapers to a four tier masterpiece that will have everyone talking about this unique cake that took over their event.

Think about the number of people having babies in your area. They are all going to need diapers and this is a fun and whimsical way to do it. When you corner this market, you have the chance to get in there and make some money. This will especially be the case when you begin hearing people talk about your creative designs that you make exclusively for baby showers and other events.

But even if you don't own business, you can still benefit from this video as well. A party is a place to have fun, and who really wants to get a bland box of diapers? With this method and a small investment, you can use this video and make a breathtaking diaper cake you can brag about at the event. Don't be surprised if everyone takes pictures!

Best of all, there are so many variations you can do. If you are making the cake for twins you can duplicate diapers and dolls on both sides, for a little girl you can take it to shades of pink diapers and if it is a boy you can make it with blue diapers.

There is no reason as to why two cakes need to be the same when you follow the basic video instructions and take your cake making efforts to the next level with the diaper cake.

Making Money Online Is Like Baking a Cake

Before we get started we need to get something out of the way. If you want to use the techniques in this book, you have to know how Internet marketing works and how people are making millions of dollars online each and every year. How does a 31 year-old attorney from Florida with absolutely no Internet marketing experience earn $60,000 a month online without having his own product? How can someone quit their day job and take up Internet Marketing full time working from home? We know the answer because we helped these people achieve their success online. There are specific ingredients that make up this recipe and we are going to elaborate on them in this section.

Ingredient 1: The Internet (Mixing Bowl). The Internet represents the mixing bowl used to make a cake. It holds all of the necessary ingredients for your recipe and allows you to mix, whip, and merge all of the different ingredients together. Without the ability to connect and collaborate with people on a global level, making money online would be much less lucrative and far more difficult.

Ingredient 2: Owners of Products, or Merchants (Flour): Merchants are the companies with websites that actually sell products to people over the web and deal with the transactions. Merchants take care of all the order processing, the handling of money, the shipping/delivery of goods and services, and support for their products.

Merchants represent the flour in your cake recipe. Without flour, there would be no substance to your cake and you'd have a mushy puddle of liquid with no hope of turning it into anything that remotely resembles a great tasting dessert. [http://long1919.com]get more information

Your Cake Decorating Business - Packaging and Delivery

Now that you've sold the job and created the finished product, it's time to deliver it to your eager customer.

The first thing you want to do is be sure you create that beautiful cake on a sturdy base. Three or more layers of heavy cardboard should be adequate for most applications. However, pay close attention to heavy base tiers and use 1/2" plywood or fiberboard.

Pillar cakes are best transported unassembled. Remove the toppers, candles and ornaments before delivery. Stacked cakes should be moved assembled unless there are a large amount of tiers, in which case it's best to transport the pieces separately.

Be sure to have your tools and icings to finish the decorating job and for any last minute touch ups!

It's best to box your cakes before delivery. Use Baker's Boxes if possible. There are three very important reasons for doing this:

1. Protect your tiers from damage

2. Keep the cake clean - free from dirt, dust or bugs

3. Makes transporting the cake easier

Put the cake on a non-stick mat in the back of your vehicle. Avoid setting it on the back seat as you want the cake to remain as level as possible during the trip.

At the destination ask for a cart to move the cakes from the vehicle to the reception area. This is easier and safer than carrying by hand.

The best way to remove the cake from the box is to cut open the side and slide the cake out.

This is where you need to have your repair kit at the ready for touch ups and emergency repairs.

Label each box as you prepare the cake for delivery so you aren't hunting for components at the last minute.

These are the most basic steps to ensure your cake arrives at the destination in the same shape as it left your kitchen.
