Facebook did not need to create any new ads for this test, and no particular advertiser has been tapped to participate as a user may not have to have liked any football pages, or indicated that football is even of interest on their profile page, however, the mention of a trip to the pub to watch the latest international makes them an instant part of the Adidas target demographic. The moment between a potential customer expressing a desire and deciding on how to fulfill that desire is a key moment for advertisers, and therefore the real-time ad model puts advertisers in front of a user at that very delicate, decisive moment.

"The long-held promise of local is to deliver timely, relevant and measurable ads which drive actions such as commerce, so if Facebook is moving in this direction, it's brilliant," said Reggie Bradford, CEO of Facebook software and marketing company Vitrue. This new feature does not alter the basic algorithm of 'expression of interest' resulting in relevant ads being promoted, the difference being that such ads are delivered in real-time so as to affect the users decision making process when they are most vulnerable to persuasion, whether it be through clever adverts, advice or discounts. The point of the algorithm is not to detect key words but in-fact to detect whether or not there is any commercial intent behind statements. "You might have the potential of seeing some unfortunate ads if not targeted correctly," said eMarketer social-media analyst Debra Aho Williamson. "If I'm talking generally about Starbucks - 'my latte was cold' - would it be weird to then see an ad from Costa?"

With Facebook ads performance generally being pretty poor (there are obviously some exceptions to this) with a reported click through rate of 0.051% in 2010 (about half the industry average) this could provide a real break-through for big brands looking to engage with fans via social media channels. It could also see Facebook's value rise even further as it becomes THE market leader in the advertising stakes. Facebook have stated that the test will continue indefinitely, but have declined to comment on the test results so far.

You've been unemployed for several months now, and the bill collectors are hounding you and threatening you with repossession or eviction. Or maybe you need to make a payment to keep your credit score from tanking into the 300's.

SELL SOMETHING

Since mankind started bartering with each other, the ability to sell products has been the key to profit and cash flow. The ancient fisherman would come to the dock in the early morning after fishing all night, knowing he had to sell his catch before noon or his fish would begin to rot.

In later years the baker had one day to sell his bread or it became too stale to sell for full price.

Americans' sales abilities started to atrophy in the 50's and 60's when the corporate business model came to prominence. Television and newspaper advertising pushed people into buying mass produced junk, and we lost that survival skill of selling.

But the world has grown weary of advertising, and so the salesman is once again coming into prominence. Newspapers are becoming like stone tablets, artifacts of an earlier age. Television ads are muted at best, or zipped through when a show is played back on the DVR. Why do people buy now?

When was the last time you encountered a really good salesperson? Didn't he or she make you feel like royalty? I bought a couple of suits a few months ago, and I know I paid too much. But the salesman was knowledgeable, had a great sense of style, and made me feel good about buying high quality clothes.

What does this have to do with the unemployed? I want to convince you that the world, both buyers and sellers, is seeking out good sales people. And you can get money today by selling.

Find Items to Sell

We are talking creativity here. From my experience, creativity expands as my checking account contracts. I had a friend named Jim Danielson who could sell an airplane in one day when he was broke. He told me that when he was desperate (out of brandy) he would focus and live on the phone until he sold something. He never owned an airplane. He sold other dealer's inventory, earning two to ten thousand dollars commission.

When I was broke, I could sell a remodeling job for a contractor in one day, collect the deposit check right then, and take home a good chunk of cash. The balance of my commission was then due at the completion of the project. At other times, I would buy a load of surplus aircraft parts on credit, haul them to San Antonio, and sell them for a profit. Either activity could earn me a thousand to four thousand dollars.

The easiest items to sell are usually in your storage unit or garage. Do you really need that second or third car? How about that woodworking lathe and drill press? Or that piece of exercise equipment. (I know, if you sell that, where will you hang your clothes?)

It should be easy to generate 300 to 500 dollars or even multiples of that in a couple of days. But don't take the easy route and under price your merchandise and by all means stay away from the pawn shops. They are some of the fiercest negotiators in the world. Sell one-on-one to the end user for top dollar.

Next, look to your relatives and friends. Do they have unwanted items that they are too busy to sell? Cars, motorcycles, boats, scrap metal, building supplies, hunting equipment, golf carts, and doll collections. Offer to sell them for a 15% or 20% commission.

Last, look to your neighbors, or even strangers. I knew a man who watched the obituaries. The day after the funeral, he would go to the home of the deceased and offer to sell the furniture and/or vehicles on commission for the survivors who lived out of town. He had excellent references and was very successful.

You might know of a cluttered warehouse. Go to the owner and offer to sell the contents and clean up the place making it ready to rent. Earn a commission on sales and more money for cleaning. You take care of the sales and pay your unemployed buddies to man the mops and brooms. It's all about creativity. Where can you give valuable service?

Sell from Someone Else's Inventory

Lots of small stores can't afford a salaried salesman, but will gladly pay you a commission for anything you sell. But be sure that you pick something with a high enough value so that your commission will be worth the effort. Jewelry, collectibles, art, and high end furniture come to mind. But you can use your imagination.

Just because you are out of money does not mean you are out of options. Get out of the house, walk around your city, and see the opportunities out there. Get a couple of thousand dollars quickly so that you can continue stalking your dream job. You'll look good in your new clothes when you go to your next interview. My Personal Mistakes On My Business Ventures Part 2 of 3

But having a Venture spirit does not seem to go away no matter how many times you fail. As we say, that just puts us a little closer to success on the next one. I heard a survey that talked to millionaires and most of them said that they went through 10 to 15 Businesses before the found the one that they liked, were good at and became successful at. Everyone has their limit of getting to the point of quitting, but I was not there yet and I hope I never will. I try to keep the attitude that even though this learning was expensive the cost of ignorance is much higher and will keep you much lower.

Then of course as we all have done sooner or later is having a friend who does multilevel Marketing. My friend told me about a Business that helps others to start a Corporation so they can get the tax advantages of the tax system that favors Businesses. So as a matter of law you do need to have a product or service of some sort.

Just to let you know I tried a car wash that did not need water, a multiple product company that started with soap/bath products and others that I do not even remember. I did not want to stop until I found something that worked and gave me income instead of me buying things. Now I cannot say that all of these were bad but some people like me, have a hard time making money at it.

Now back to the Corporation Business. This seemed like a good idea (as they all do) as I believed that having a Business is one of the best ways to make money if you succeed. I did like doing the public speaking and teaching part of the seminars.

What happened was they started giving stock options and the Business was growing so I thought it would be a good idea to get as much stocks as I could get as they said they wanted to go public in the near future. So here I go again on borrowing money to buy Stock Options as I earned them by getting other people to start a Corporation and also be able to get Stock Options. As you brought money into the Company you were given the option to buy Stock Options to buy stocks later. Sound Complicated? Anyway in the Corporate world it is illegal to sell stock options before you go public as least that is what I was told.

Please understand I cannot give any legal advice as I am not an Attorney. So I bought a Corporation and enjoyed some tax benefits and received some money for helping others to do the same. They advised to quit-claim your home, your car etc. into your Corporation and you receive use of these things as the CEO of your Business and you become the Manager of the home. Then you were supposed to be able to deduct the expenses of the now Business Real Estate. Now a lot of these methods are used by the rich and should be setup by professionals.

I am a man that has looked for a business for many years to become successful at and after many tries I have found Internet Marketing. It does not take much money and at 56, being Internet challenged, I can learn this, work at home and quit my jobs.
