Is Multi Level Marketing a Pyramid Scheme?

I wonder if this questioned is asked because people really want to know if network marketing is a scam because if it isn't they're ready to get in the game of entrepreneurship or is it just a passive move to stick with their J.O.B. It sometimes surprises me when people who seem to be otherwise intelligent and aware asks if network marketing is a pyramid scheme, a home based business scam or multi level marketing scam. I know they're intelligent enough to know their corporate organization is also based on a pyramid structure. But does a pyramid structure represent an actual pyramid scheme? NO it doesn't. I know they're intelligent enough to know they'll never make more money than the CEO, CFO, CMO, COO, or VP of their company.

This similarity of the one at the top making most of the money while those at the bottom make little to no money still doesn't make the typical corporation a pyramid scheme. A Multi Level Marketing scam is a form of fraud in which there's no real sustainable product or service offered for sale. Instead a residual income scam is what's for sale and involves money exchange for enrolling people in the pyramid scam based on a fake business model offering a ghost product or service and the top people receive most of the money. Some of these scams are internet marketing scams so don't let the high-tech outfit fool you. Even if someone came in down the line and put in more effort, they wouldn't make more money if any at all.

In the investment world, a ponzi scheme is investment fraud which occurs when the operator promises a high ROI to investors and runs off with the money or fails to return the dividends to investors as promised. Essentially a ponzi scheme is a pyramid scheme. Ponzi scheme is named after Charles Ponzi, however Bernie Madoff is synonymous with this term because his fraud was considered the worst scam ever.

Let's make this clear, a pyramid structure doesn't always mean it's a pyramid scheme.

Pros

Michael Han appears to have run other businesses successfully. This does not guarantee anything but it is better than the alternative.
The website is professional. New MLM companies typically have a homemade looking website when in prelaunch but this one looks good from the start.
The company claims to have a special program for people new to Network Marketing. I am a fan of training.

Cons

Too much hype. Most of the talk is about joining a billionaire and the seven ways to get paid.
I have not found one affiliate that wants to talk about the power of the product.
There are no prices on the websites as of April 9, 2010 for the products. It does not matter how great everything is if it is another MLM with overpriced products that only affiliates buy. Many companies have fallen because of the lack of a retail base.
Too many products. Most new home business professionals have difficulty selling one product, let alone twenty or more. If someone does join Lyf Brands I recommend focusing on three products you like and use.
The last concern is a problem I have with nearly every company in the industry. There is no mention of the type of marketing training that will be offered. This usually means it will be the typical "Make a list routine". This only works for affiliates with veterans that have a list of ten thousand people to call that they already know.

Conclusion

If you join an individual that offers top notch training on how top producers use tools and the internet you may do well with Michael Han and company. Interview several people from the company and ask these two questions:

"How are you marketing your business?"

The name Exfuze has many meaning According to the company is derived from extracts being fuzed together. This goes right into what their product is. The product Ezfuse Seven Plus is a juice or drink if you will. A multi-botanical juice that creates a synergistic combination of seven super foods combined with other ingredients by the use of the extracts rather than the concentrates, which they say has greater power. In addition to this, their approach is to treat each super-food and the extracts as if it were the sole supporting nutrition of the drink. They bring to the company many years of network marketing experience and a solid financial backing. One interesting tidbit that I found is that Peter Hammer was responsible for taking another network marketing company from small to big in a very short amount of time.There are also other notable leaders that are distributors. To name a couple, Master distributor Steve Campbell and Keith Halls. Steve Campbell has over 20 years of experience in the MLM- Network Marketing Industry. He's well respected, and by many considered a powerhouse in this Industry. Keith Halls is also know very well as he was the ex CFO of Nu-Skin. This blew me away, because he joined Exfuze as a distributor??

Exfuze is a company that had $5 million in funding for the start up, and has a whole team of professional football players as investors.... Hall of Fame player Lawrence Taylor and Hall of Fame Coach Bill Parcels to name a couple. They look like a solid company!

Timing

In April 2008, Exfuse had their pre-launch and then opened to public in September of 2008. With less than 60,000 distributors in the world, many think of this as a pre-momentum stage. During the stage of their first year,they were already opened in countries like Canada and Japan. Trends show Exfuze to be positioned to reach $1 billion within its first 3 years. Many looking at Network marketing believe that it's good time to enter a company with this type of potential in their early stages.

From what I saw about the compensation plan, people that choose to join Exfuze would have the ability to earn money in seven ways:

View the compensation plan, and compare it to others as I have, then make a decision based on what you've found.

So, what's next? Well, I have to tell you that in my research all the pieces seem to be in great favor for this company. However, I did see one minor flaw. I noticed that just like the majority of the MLM/ network marketing companies out there, Exfuze uses traditional methods of marketing. If you've been around the network marketing Industry for some time now, you know that traditional marketing consists of meetings, making a list of names of everybody you know, calling and checking their interest, going out and meeting as many people as you can collecting as many NOs to get a yes, then if you get tired of that, you buy leads. I will just tell you from experience that this does not work for the masses. This method does work for the 3 percenters if you find them. From my experience, you will find yourself in debt, frustrated, and wasting a lot of time on all the wrong people.

If I were to give Exfuze a rating in comparison with other network marketing companies, I would have to give them 9 stars out of 10. If you noticed, in the above mentioned flaw from the marketing stand point, I said minor, because most MLM/ network marketing companies have this flaw.
