How To Work From Home and Raise Your Family

My Husband and I own a Property and Internet Business which we run from home, we love having a business and being at home because we have more time and flexibility with our children. People often wonder how we manage to raise our three girls of 11, 4, and 1 and run a successful business.

It's not always easy, but with some thought, organising and planning, it's run relatively smoothly and is very rewarding for all the family.

Sometimes trying to complete work when you have young children hanging around being disruptive and always saying that word Mum, just seems to go on forever, don't you think! Well I find that if my children have my full attention for a solid hour or so through different times of the day, they are then happy to toddle off for a little while and amuse themselves.

What works for me

I break my hours up into chunk times; this makes my day very efficient and I manage to get tasks complete. I will give you an example below:

Chunk Times

6.00am - 7.00am Quiet time, mediation and focus time

7.00am - 8.00 am Children's breakfast, and get them organised

8.00am - 10.00am Work time

10.00am - 11.00am Morning tea and playtime with the children

11.00am - 12.00pm Work time

12.00pm - 1.00pm Lunch and play time with the children

1.00pm - 4.00pm Work time

4.00pm - 7.30pm Dinner and time with children

8.30pm - 10.30pm If needed is business time and meeting with hubby

On my website there is the Platinum Mover Sheet, which is very helpful for keeping a balance and prioritising tasks.

Here is an example of a Timetable. You can always print these types of timetables and calendars off from the Template section of the Word program. There are mail organisers that also have calendars attached to them or use the portable Tablets (Ipads etc), theses great to use as you can be take them with you.

I have one day a week that I set up to do all my running around like the groceries, inspect properties, pick up deliveries, meetings etc.

I finish work at 4.00pm as my eldest child arrives home from school at this time, and we have family time from 4.00pm until 7.00pm, once the children have all gone to bed, I head back to the office for a couple of uninterrupted work hours, which gives me a head start for the next day. Keep an eye on the time and set aside some for relaxing, watching television or chatting to your partner.

If you have young babies and toddlers you can also get a lot of work done when they have their naptimes.

Of course there will be times and weeks when this all does not go to plan, eg. unwell children, end of year reporting and other engagements, when this does happen put this routine into a smaller scale, break it down, do the priorities. The main thing is to be flexible and focused on your end goal for each day and then each week.

Work at meetings and schedules for work time with your partner. Sometimes if he does his work load in the morning then he can come home in the afternoon and help with the children while I get my work done.

Fridays are planned days to have off as well as weekends.

Working from home can have it's positive and negatives, and interruptions can sometimes be a challenge to manage, like friends popping in, friends ringing up, then there's your children with their interruptions. This can be very testing of your patience. Be firm with friends, just let them know that at certain times, you are at work, so they can't visit.

Make Your Office Their Office

My Office is at the end of my house, I have created one half as my work area and the other half the children's play room, we have Toys, Books, TV and all kinds of fun stuff for them to play with. I find that when I am working I am also interacting with the children and supervising them at the same time, I set some rules of what they can and can't do, and encourage them to play quietly, obviously children will not have complete silence so, hopefully you can handle a little bit of noise, I also set times where I get the total silence I need for some tasks.

Involve your Children In Your Work

Try to include your children with your work, Let them help you put letters into envelopes, staple documents (just watch they don't staple their fingers), give them an old computer keyboard and phone so they can set up their own little office. You will be surprised as to how much your children will enjoy this, actually it's quiet funny to watch them pretend to be me and talk on the phone.

For Example, my little 20 month old is trying to grab at my mouse and is interrupting me here now, this is important, but I'll be right back.

Everyone is happy again, I gave her some food and milk and now she is sleeping beautifully and I can concentrate on what I was doing and that's writing this article for you. Be flexible, the major key is to balance your work priorities with your family needs.

Be open with your children in what you are doing and why. For older children, this is a lot easier because they understand what you are doing and they understand rules better. Give them some tasks to do to help you. Explain to your children what is needed when you are in meetings or on the telephone. Having a quiet room with a lock is good for these occasions. My 11 year old is already learning how to run her own internet business and has been for a while now, managing her own money. For the younger infants and babies, they do better with routines, you need to set your work around your childs, time frame, eating, sleeping and playing etc.

Keep Your Home and Office Kid Safe

How to child proof your home and office without having to barricade the whole place off.

Get down on your hands and knees to get a child's perspective of your office. Look for sharp corners, drawers that can be pulled out, heavy files or furniture that may fall on your children, outlets and cords that beg to be pulled and poked.

Shield power points with plastic safety plugs or cover them with locking devices that screw into the outlet plate. Put protective foam-rubber strips over sharp edges and corners. Make sure electrical cords don't dangle from your workstation, children might be tempted to tug on them and end up pulling a heavy piece of equipment onto themselves. Be especially careful of cords hanging from vertical blinds or curtains. Bundle them up with a special cord divider (most hardware and baby stores sell them).

Timetables and Priorities

Set your next day the day before
Get organised
Work out what you are doing: Busy Time or Money Time

What is Busy Time? All the tasks that don't actually Make you Money. Think about how much actual time you spend on these tasks and what you can out source to others.

Answering emails
Chatting on the phone
Opening mail
Meeting

What is Money Time? Ask yourself what can I do to Make Money today

Sales and marketing
Face to face with clients
Offer specials and discounts etc to ongoing clients
Copywriting for a product

Set your time table tasks, then put numbers against them from 1 to 10.

1 - Urgent

10 - Not so Important

If you don't complete all your tasks, ask yourself what could I have done better.

Work out what you are doing during the day, are you using your time efficiently? Should you be out sourcing some of your work? Manage your team well so everyone understands your priorities so all tasks can be completed, and everyone is productive.

Get the right attitude ask yourself, What am I thankful for, What am I grateful for, and What do I need to ask for.

Get positive, get some courage, you are in business to Make Money. What is your goal, once you have set your goal, Take Action!

Again, this is where the Platinum Mover Sheet will come in handy. Download it now.

The Main Priority

Just remember that your children are your number one priority, their needs come first before work, you will find that if you ignore your children the situation comes very tense and stressful.

So keep your children happy and safe and get your routine into place.

I hope you find my information helpful, it can be a real struggle sometimes, don't give up because you have the best of both worlds.

I love the flexibility in working at home and having children, it also gives us the flexibility to travel more often.

How Much Do Home Daycares Make?

Opening and running a Home Daycare Center takes more skills than you may think. Before you run out and enroll a lot of kids follow along with these guidelines and you will save yourself a lot o time, trouble, and money. As with any business you have to have your affairs in order! There are plenty of people willing to help you become successful. You will be able to find many free resources that will make this wonderful adventure worth all of the hard work. Many resources that you will need can be found in your local library. Opening a Home Daycare takes some money but your main overhead is already paid for, this is your home. The State has many regulations that you must follow even though you are in your own home these rules and regulations still apply. Families still expect the same quality of care that they would receive in a commercial Child/Daycare Center.

Before you open your business ask yourself, are you right for the job? Do you have the right personality, temperament, motivation, and the necessary skills to undertake such a rewarding career.

To take this challenge of running a Home Daycare you must have a personality to not only deal with often undiscipline children but you must also have personality and temperament to deal with parents who are in many cases very demanding due to the last center they did not like. How well do you handle sharing your living quarters with children who may not view your dwelling as the sacred and peaceful place that you call home. Motivation is so important when pursuing any new career, so ask yourself, "For what reason am I taking up such a challenging profession?" Is it because you are tired of the 9-5? Well you may be trading the 8 hrs. in for 12 hrs.7a-7p depending on your parents work schedule. You must never forget that you have made yourself available to families based on their needs.

Are you motivated because you want to be home with your own children? Be aware that not only will you be making adjustments but your family will be making adjustments as well. Is money the motivating factor that causes you to want to pursue such a demanding job? What ever your motivation is, the next prep steps hold true for any type of business whether home business or commercial. I will touch briefly on these steps. I cannot go into great detail in this article but remember there are many free resources at your local library. The internet has a vast amount of knowledge ranging from finance, state laws, to website design.

Nothing gets done if your money is funny! So it is very important to create your budget, you do not want your children to suffer because you failed to plan. Remember these words, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Make sure that you take into account all the monies needed to operate your business. Once you have estimated your expenses go back and analyze your budget, this will let you know how much financing you will need. Big question! how will you finance your business. Many entrepreneurs seek out financing but many brave souls finance themselves. This is very important, money is your life's blood; without it your business does not exist, so make sure that you have covered this most important step. The welfare and safety of your children, parents and your own family depends on this very vital step.

The next step is preparing your home to be a safe, suitable, stimulating, learning environment, capable of nurturing not only children but parents as well. In an essence you become a new family. Home based or Commercial you will be forming relationships that many times last a lifetime.

Once you have both physically and emotionally prepared yourself and your home you must remember that children need well balance meals that stimulate growth of mind body and soul. So far we have spoken very little about the, "State", all Childcare Centers fall under the jurisdiction and authority of the State, and they fall under Federal guidelines. Be sure that you are fully versed on your State laws. When all is said and done you will be inspected by the State so have some form of record keeping in place to provide for them when they show up, and they will show up!

Accountability is the key to success. Set your contracts, the do's and don'ts and do not forget "Uncle Sam' he has to know your business so be sure to have all taxes covered. Opening and running your Home Daycare starts with, you and how organize and discipline you become. Some entrepreneur deal in widgets but your inventory is much more precious, all in all if you take care of business business will take care of you. Good Luck!!

Simple Tricks For Working At Home With Children

Working at home with children is becoming more and more popular in today's world. Both mothers and fathers try to either gain extra income by working at home or find new and interesting work where they can schedule their own hours or receive fabulous tax breaks.

A typical work at home job can have its pitfalls however, especially when trying to tackle at home work assignments with noisy distractions in the background. These work disturbances can make working at home a challenge.

The following are a few tricks and tips to make your work at home jobs more productive.

1. Try to pass on some of the daily tasks to other household members such as your hubby or older children. Explain and coach them on how to do simple chores that need to be done on a daily basis. If necessary, set up a day-to-day schedule of duties for each person that is to be responsible. Gather ideas to make their jobs fun and easy to perform. Teach them household tasks like clearing up the kitchen and washing the dishes, cleaning the dirty clothes, taking out the garbage, preparing meals and doing the carpooling.

2. Start your work day before the kids wake up in the morning. By applying this simple plan, you will not only feel more relaxed, but will have much more work time for yourself to engage in moderate at home exercises or to have a few hours to get caught up with work at home assignments. At least one to two hours should be assigned for you every single day, even if it needs to be before the children wake up.

3. Get organized and learn to prepare daily schedules. Plan your work at home day the night before. This way you will have that precious time to yourself without any distractions and will be able to accomplish your work at home things to do faster without having to waste time thinking of what needs to be done. Begin by making a list of all the tasks that need to be performed that day, then either with numbers or letters, assign which work at home jobs are most necessary to do in order of priority. Once you complete these tasks, you can place a check mark beside them. You will quickly see that this method works fabulously.

4. Always give attention to your kids as soon as they wake up in the morning. If you can, prepare them a spectacular breakfast with all of their favorite foods. Also, give them lots of extra hugs and kisses. Children tend to sometime feel left out when they observe their parents working at home. This does not need to be the case. Make sure to make time for your children every single day as these memories will last forever. Also, your children will be more cooperative throughout the whole day when they feel loved.

5. Prepare a daily schedule of routine events for your children. By having a daily plan, your children will feel as though everything is still normal as it was before you began your work at home jobs. When the events of the day go about smoothly usually on time or close to the usual routine, the day flows easily with less snags and distractions when attempting to perform your work at home assignments.

6. If money permits, employ an assistant to do household chores or to watch the children for a few hours at least a few times per week. This will give you extra me time or allow you to put in a few hours of quiet work time to get caught up on things. You can also you this time to relax and unwind after a stressful day. Don't forget however, to spend always some quality time with your children every day.

7. Don't be afraid to rearrange your schedule once in a while. Allow for flexibility. If things are becoming too noisy inside of the house, take the games outside for a while. The fresh air and exercise will do both you and the children good. Even a short walk around the block is fun. Take the dog for a fast run. Grab a quick coffee at your favorite neighbor's house. Clear your mind and you will come back more energized, ready for your next work at home job.

Apply these tips for working at home with children for a more productive work at home day.

Why Online Learning Is Perfect for Mothers

Most stay at homes moms were once career women who temporarily left their career to spend several years taking care and raising their children. Most of them will only reconsider getting back to work the moment their youngest child enters kindergarten school.

The length of time most of these women stay home to take care of their family would run about 5 to 10 years. The moment their youngest kid is already in school, they would consider picking up where they left off their career.

Most of them have the choice whether to continue their existing profession or start a new career altogether. Pursuing a new career path is possible whether she decides to take up a new college degree or a second or alternate college degree.

Mothers are busy people with their hands full with so many activities. Most of them play an active part in community development, their children's non-stop school activities, member in playgroups, and tremendous house works. This is contrary to other people saying moms are staying home without much to do but watch soap operas.

Although they may be busy all throughout the day, most women find time for themselves when their children are taking naps. These are the usual times they can go online and take up distance learning.

In fact, there are so many mothers who took up online courses and earn enough credits to get them a bachelor's degree of their choosing.

There are so many courses available in online colleges that they can choose from. This gives them the chance to pursue their career once their children are in school.

This is the reason why online learning is perfect for mothers who want to take hold of their future career. Classes through the internet not only give you the flexibilities to get back to school but it opens a lot of job opportunities for you.

During my free time, I always like to browse information on [http://soapdispenserpump.com]soap dispenser and [http://binocularscompact.com]compact binoculars.

Great Goods Can Come From Third World Countries And Sustainable Sources

Most of us these days are aware of how the third world countries are on the brink of disaster. Children who have parents who are making about one dollar per day for the whole family to survive on are doomed to a life of poverty and sickness for sure. However, those companies who are socially aware have been buying up sustainable products and handmade bags etc to ensure that those poor artisans get a living wage for the work that they do.

In these third world countries, where women are very much second class citizens for sure, it is often left up to the women to feed and school the children. Men succumb to the demon drink most times to drown the sorrows of this very poor life. But life must go on for the upcoming children for sure and it is these that the women strive to keep well until they reach adulthood.

They are very clever artisans who use trades and industries that have been passed down to them through the generations to at least make small money every day from tourist outlets in their particular countries. However, as is always the way, it is the middle men who make the bulk of the profit leaving the women with as little as a dollar a day to make ends meet.

First world country companies, having realized this, have started to import goods from these women, and the groups that they form, directly thereby cutting out these middle men. This means that the women get more for the work that they produce and the kids have a better life all around.

For us, the consumer, it also allows us to contribute, in a roundabout way, to kids who may otherwise be left to starve for most of the time. Indeed, this is probably a better way to donate to those families since very often any donations made to charities get swallowed up by administration charges. This helps no one of course so getting a bracelet or pair of shoes in exchange for a small amount of money will ensure that the third world family benefit from our goodwill.

These people also take recycling to its utmost since they often use things that would otherwise be discarded. Old tires are used to make soles for shoes and hides, from sustainable sources, are used to cover diaries and journals. With the beautiful decorations that they have become adept at making, the whole object takes on a new life which looks nothing like the original materials used.

Indeed, things like African art, or art from South America have become very much appreciated in the past decade or so and people like the idea of having something beautiful from far off places adorning their homes.

For those who want to try this out, try looking up fair trade companies online to see what kind of goods that they have on offer. Everyone is usually surprised at what they find there and often keep going back to make purchases for many years to come.

Stewart Wrighter recently purchased a couple of [http://www.handmadeexpressions.net/]handmade bags for his wife and daughter. His wife ordered some [http://www.handmadeexpressions.net/]sustainable products online to give as gifts.

Make Art and Crafts Be Your Professional Hobby

Moneymaking is so essential that many people take to various methods of making extra money through the internet, part time jobs and many other sources available in today's world. Today's house wives have found yet another method of making extra money while seated in the shelter of their own homes.

Our ancestors have imparted to all of us a special talent that very seldom we make use of. Why even as individuals during the course of our growing up or bringing up of our children and grand children we learn various methods of attracting people's attention or admirations with creative ideas of art and craft. These methods or tasks could be of a real assistance in earning a little extra income while seated in the shelter of our homes.

One simple and most common method could be needle work and craft. Many think that needle work or needle and thread craft is for those who have mastered the skill. Actually needle work is only purely the individual's interest and a basic knowledge. Initially there may be a lot of wrong steps taken, but continuous trials and repeated doing of the same job makes one perfect and the trick of the trade is out. As parents we could begin with tailoring a few dresses for the new born babies and then gradually begin to designing and tailoring for adults. Once the technique is known you could then begin tailoring at small levels for neighbors and friends.

As everyone would agree business develops through two methods. One is through advertising and the second is through friendship. Friendship is most popular method of business development. In this trade also the best method of developing of home business is through friendship. As mentioned earlier you begin first for your own children or yourself and then move to assisting for friends and family members.

In this trade of tailoring and needle work craft you never get to know everything and you keep learning every day of your life. With the fashion trend of today it is always a demand for tailoring personnel. In certain countries or cities where garment manufacturing or fashion designing is most popular there is always a demand for tailoring personnel. One could benefit of this advantage by having the garments manufactured at your homes and supplied to the garment manufacturing companies.

The advantages here are very lucrative as you would be spending no money or material of your own, but only your time, because manufacturing companies generally supply all material and accessories required for specific garment designs. The payment procedures are also high and prompt.

A little bit of craft of needle work would help greatly in this field. As some designers requiring craft like embroidering or fabric painting are generally on the lookout for outsourcing labor for this cause. Since not all designs require this method companies never ever employ personnel for this cause and outsource jobs to individuals. Making your ability pay, while seated in the shelter of your own home is the best way of earning money.

The Grown Up Work of Running a Day Care

Anyone starting a daycare must enjoy working with children, in order to make their business a rewarding and fulfilling career! Not only will you be doing something you love to do, you will also be earning a good living at it! The size of the daycare you start can be as small or as large as you would like it to be (check local daycare guidelines). You also need to decide on the age of the children that you will care for! These are things that you, as a "small business owner", need to decide on before opening your doors.

Notice the phrase "small business owner." Daycare IS a business. Make sure you don't think of your new business as a glorified babysitting service, or for that matter don't allow your parents to think that either! If you do, you will run into problems. If you think of it as your own daycare business, you will succeed right from the beginning, you will make all the right decisions, and get the right information.

Starting your own daycare business depends upon planning, and the knowledge of how a successful daycare business is to be run. You will need to know who your customers are, how you will reach them, and how you will keep them. You will need to know how to respond to the problems that will arise, and how to deal with them.

With daycare, you are offering a service, not a product. The one huge difference that dominates how you set up your business from a non-daycare business, and that is you are in charge of people's precious children. They need to be kept safe, fed and entertained throughout the day. And, you need to be able to meet or exceed the parents' expectations, and that can be hard to do.

This means that you need to invest in products that are childproof and durable, and are up to safety standards. Insurance is something else that you will need to check into. You will want to know how much and what kind of insurance you will need. Since you will be looking after children, you will need a police check, first aid and CPR. A lot of situations may arise when looking after kids...falls, scrapes, nausea and all the little things that pop up, and you will need to know how to handle them calmly and professionally.

There are a lot of things that you will need to do legally before you can open your doors. Check with your local governments to find out your province's or state's laws regarding daycare. They control every thing from the age of the children to the number of children you are allowed to have. Where I'm from, my own children didn't count in my daycare numbers. By going through this process, you will have peace of mind that you have done everything possible, and can legally open your doors for business. The parents, who come to you to take care of their children, want to know that you are trained, that your facilities live up to established standards, and that you are accountable to the state or province, and have met the necessary medical requirements to be able to operate this kind of facility.
