Get the Latest Tech News From Technology Sites

When the society looks back on the past few decades and the infancy of the World wide web can be correctly defined, it will most likely be chronicled that the Internet is the greatest learning tool since the printing press. Even small African communities where basic electricity can at times be a scarcity, personal computers and the World wide web are changing the way people view the world. In addition to millions of pages devoted to news, politics, and other things, tech news are often a dominant subject matter on a medium run by the most recent technological discoveries. Here are just a few internet sites you can visit for the latest technology news.

The website cNet has been a frontrunner in technology for many years. Not only do they have a pile of news and stories devoted to technological innovation, but they also have a seemingly never-ending amount of product critiques. In addition they run the well-liked Download.com site which lets you download trials of computer software or freeware and shareware applications from around the globe. Ask just about any hardcore computer nerd about this site and they'll probably tell you that they've it bookmarked and that they check-in with cNet at least once per day.

Following closely behind cNet is ZDnet. They have been around almost as long and have created a great track record of not only tech news but also having several of the finest opinion authors within the company, as well. Quite a few of the reports have comments enabled, which implies you may fire back at a columnist who is voicing a viewpoint that you believe is ridiculous. Keep in mind, just because a person has something printed online, it does not mean that person has any idea what they are talking about. Just bear in mind to remain civil and well-intentioned when making your point.

Some of the very best mainstream news outlets available also have excellent technology news divisions, as well. Web sites like the San Francisco Chronicle, CNN, MSNBC as well as the BBC all have webpages with tech sections which are updated several times every day.

Following in the footsteps of the major news agencies, the Internet giants are likewise trying to cover technology news. Sites like Google News and Yahoo News now have fulltime journalists on the beat and they regularly break stories that the other web sites miss. This is a case of businesses producing so much cash and having only little idea of exactly what to do with it, so they start their very own media service.

How to Engage Online Customers - 5 Tips

Businesses ability to force prospects to watch advertising is coming to a close. Newspaper readership is declining. People use Tivo or other DVRs to fast forward through commercials. Internet and satellite radio are increasingly commercial free. So companies need to seek out new ways to draw customers to them.

The social web provides significant opportunities for businesses to engage potential customers. This article will give 5 tips for increasing customer engagement.

Use polls to increase customer engagement. Many people will visit a web site every day just so they can participate in a poll, but this is especially true if a site is offering fresh content too. CNN is a favorite example. CNN offers interesting content that changes daily and a quick way to post an opinion. PollDaddy is one of the many options available for quickly and easily offering polls.
FaceBook offers numerous ways to increase customer engagement. If you have a company "page", and you should, open your wall posts to allow others to post. Provide informative or entertaining wall posts on a regular basis and include a question at the end of the post. People will reply and you can start to build a Facebook community.
FaceBook Groups can build Internet community. FaceBook now offers a way to build groups. Like-minded people can come together and interact with groups. Groups also have a real time chat functionality, allowing you to hold online "events" to bring people together.
Add a bulletin board to your website and rel=nofollow [http://www.mars-west.com/services/]add community to your website. Community building is an excellent way to build traffic to your website. You need a minimum number of daily website visitors for this to work. But if you have web traffic and you're trying to build on it, this can be a great way to make your site a destination website. If your site is built in Wordpress, there are a variety of plugins that will add this functionality. There are also some free standing plugins and some excellent open source, freeware such as PHPBBS.
Let others promote themselves on your Facebook page. Many small businesses with a physical, brick and mortar presence, have bulletin boards that allow people to post community events. Why not allow something similar on your FaceBook page or even on your website. Those who visit to post things, may become your biggest fans. Giving out good will is free. And the good will you get back may be repaid many times over.

If you provide an online destination that people want to visit, you will increase brand awareness, drive people to your website and engage your customers.

The Relevance of the Web in the Face of Apps

An August article in Wired Magazine suggested the web is dead in favor of the thousands of apps individuals use each day on tablet PCs, smartphones, and the like. The problem here is fairly clear. The web is far from dead given the overwhelming growth of functionality simple apps just can't provide.

The Wired article, titled "The Web is Dead. Long Live the Internet" spends quite a bit of time discussing exactly who is at fault for the rise of apps over the more traditional online model that's been with us for more than two decades, but the real problem here isn't who create the problem, but the premise itself. It's undeniably true that most of us use our WiFi and Bluetooth enabled devices to make the most of our time today, and while we may prefer something like the Google Calendar app to the site itself, the bottom line here is that the web continues to grow while the world of the app is becoming less and less stable every single day.

Take a moment to look at the problem from a statistical point of view. In a single day, more than one hundred thousand new domains are registered, and the bulk of those are destined to become valuable web content within just a matter of weeks. The number of new sites far outnumbers the number of new apps becoming available, and that alone is enough to help most realize the ongoing importance of the internet. While it is certainly changing to meet the needs of a new market, that's been the battle-cry of the web since its inception. What was once a point to point communication model fast evolved into email, forums, and a hub of information. Naturally online marketing entered the picture, and the model shifted again. As smartphones and other mobile devices have become an increasing part of society, the web continues to shift toward a model that better meets the needs of today's consumers.

Despite the shift, though, many things people have come to rely on are far from gone. Take forums, for instance. One of the earliest ways we communicated on the web, forums often still play a central role in the way people connect. From generalized consumer review forums to specialized topics like self-help, hobbyists, and even professionals connecting with one another in their industries, forums are more popular than ever. Because they can provide the targeted content users are looking for, and they're indexed by most major search engines, the need for this method of communication is still essential, even in light of Facebook and Twitter.

Even blogs remain an essential, and important, part of our online communication today. Not only do most people subscribe to more than one blog, but the traditional media sources look to this very simple form of communication as an essential reporting tool. More than a decade ago, the late veteran journalist Peter Jennings and his staff created and compiled an email newsletter to send to subscribers, discussing the top headlines of the day. These days, massive news outlets like the BBC and CNN rely on blogs, both internal and external, to communicate those same headlines. If there's an event occurring, there's a live blog to correspond with it, and thousands of other sites rely on that raw content to feed their own commentaries.

The case is only further made by ecommerce. While the technology was available in 1991, the security wasn't widely possible until 1994, and it took almost another 6 years for sales numbers to reflect the powerhouse ecommerce had truly become. Now an entire generation has grown up with the idea of clicking and purchasing items as opposed to leaving their homes for the same products. People handle their grocery shopping online, holiday sales numbers for online shopping only continue to increase, and today most brick and mortar outlets struggle to keep up with overhead costs while companies like Amazon dominate the markets.

While the web may continue to shift and change, the reality is that it won't be leaving in the near future, and SEO plays an important role in that equation. Users rely on SEO to find newer and better sites, blogs, and even forums for a variety of purposes. Whether they do so thanks to their mobile browsers or their iPads, it's the very notion that SEO can help users find new content while a static app is just that - something that may provide a bit of functionality but can't truly open the door to all the internet has to offer. As the web shifts, so too do practical SEO practices, but the market has been able to navigate those changes for almost two decades, and it will continue to do so, even in the face of what will become a shrinking world of apps.

How To Start Your Own Home Based Business - Part 2

On the previous part I have explained how you must found out what you want to do in life, how you should explore in this area that you are interested in and that you must look for a product to market to these possible clients. A few things to keep in mind when you are looking to market anything is that the product or service you are about to promote must be of a very high quality. It will do you no good if you are promoting a cheap knockoff or a product that is not delivering what you say it will deliver.

More now on researching the market place, you have found your interested area and now you will have to dig deeper. If there is no demand for what you are about to market you will waste your money and time.
Use free research tools that you can download to do the research. Here are a few examples: Google, Yahoo, CNN website, BBC website, Alexa toolbar, keywordspy.com, etc. There are plenty more free tools if you start searching for them.
Using these tools you will soon find that in your area of interest there is either high traffic or low traffic and obviously you will have to go for the traffic in the middle, too little traffic is not good because it means that there is not enough demand, too much traffic will mean too much competition. You will have to do the research and find the middle ground.
Once you have found an area which you can market with confidence you will have to find a product to market. There is a few options open for you, you can either develop your own product or you can start to market someone else's product, which is called affiliate marketing. More on that later.

While you are starting to move into the correct direction to start your own Home Based Business it is not to say that you will be able to do it immediately or even make a success of it. You will have to work harder on yourself than on the Business to make a success. http://attractingonlinerichesblueprint.com

How to Pass Time on the Internet

Without a doubt one of the hardest questions to answer, like ever: 'How to pass time on the Internet?'

Ok, Ok, for most people it's not that hard of a question as there are literally endless ways to do so, let's take a look at what you can do depending on what mood you are in.

Looking To Learn?

Try websites like Wikipedia or eHow, or your favorite article directory. These sites are literal treasure troves of information on almost any subject imaginable! Take a minute and hunt down a few pages and articles and expand your mind learning something new.

Feeling Social?

We all want to connect with other people sometimes, it's just human nature, and the Internet is fast becoming the easiest and most popular way to do so. Just look at the popularity of social sites like Facebook and Twitter - whatever your blend of social interaction there will be a site on the Internet to meet your needs.

There are a gazillion puzzle and games sites on the Internet, not to mention the hordes of games and applications available through sites like Facebook. Whether you are looking for a 5 minute fix or a game that can last days, there are options available through games like Farmville, Bejewelled to Chess and online persistent worlds ready to whisk you off to a place far, far away.

News sites like CNN or the BBC news from the UK provide you with up-to-the-minute news stories from around the world in all the main categories including politics, sports, crime, entertainment, and sciences. You can find news from your local area, your country and from around the world.

Fancy a Read?

There are countless books available in electronic format on the Internet these days, try sites like Google eBooks, or Readprint.com - literally millions of free books to read on any number of topics (you couldn't really have millions of books on only a few topics now could you...).

Let's face it; no matter how you pass time off the Internet, short of actual physical activities like playing sports, driving, or going on vacation, you can probably pass time doing the same thing online too. With the added elements of voice and video chats the social aspect of the Internet becomes more 'real' every day.

Seventy Percent of YouTube Traffic Is International

Google gets yet another hit as I search the phrase "There are lies, damn lies and statistics" which incidentally (according to Wikipedia) is attributed in the U.S. to Mark Twain who attributed it to Benjamin Disraeli, who apparently never said it and so it is now attributed to Charles Wentworth Dilke who nobody knows, which is not all that interesting. It is much more interesting to have a clever quote attributed to Mark Twain who after all did repeat it. All this is very much like statistics themselves. They get passed around and nobody really knows who started it and how true they might be. Also as the Dilke quote suggests they are open to interpretation. One thing about statistics which is true is that they are repeated, truncated and paraphrased in order to prove a point.

According to TG Daily, in August 2008 YouTube surpassed Yahoo for the number two search spot in terms of numbers of search requests. That's interesting as a headline but I wonder what kinds of searches are being requested at each site. Intuitively I am willing to believe that people use Google and Yahoo similarly but are people making the same types of search requests at YouTube? I have no way of knowing but I suspect people are making different kinds of searches at YouTube and it would be interesting to know how these searches differ.

There is a very interesting article at Mashable tilted "Youtube Surpasses Two Billion Video Views Daily" which is interesting and thought provoking. However buried in a list of statistical "Interesting Facts" at the bottom of the article is the factoid "70% of YouTube's traffic comes from outside the U.S." I personally think that is fascinating and revealing because we generally ethnocentric thinking Americans think that these Internet statistic reflect us and how Americans are using the Internet. It is very important to get the full picture. This also makes perfect sense when you consider that most of the world does not have access to the diversity of entertainment and television programming that is available to most Americans - - of course the rest of the world would turn to YouTube. However these types of statistics are used to toll the death knell of broadcast and cable TV when the truth is according to this statistic, about 700 million Americans per day make searches on Youtube - - impressive but somehow this does not seem as newsworthy.

Now in August 2010 Alexa reported that YouTube knocked Yahoo out of the third position of "most visited sites." Which on the surface is interesting but what does that really mean? It might be interesting if you are looking to allocate dollars to an ad campaign and are looking for the most visited websites. But the ranking in this article was #1 Google, #2 Facebook, #3 YouTube and #4 Yahoo. In my estimation this says more about how people are using the Internet. I do not see that these websites (with the exception of Google and Yahoo) are necessarily in competition with one another. Arguably YouTube is also a search engine but again, intuitively I believe it is being used differently.

Most recently, November 2010, CNN has declared that Facebook has overtaken Google in terms of traffic. Again interesting but it seems people are suggesting that somehow this means Google is slipping. It seems to me that the message is people are spending more time chatting with friends and co-workers then they are generally querying the Internet.

These statistics are interesting and I think they do help us to understand how the Internet is being used. It is clear that the Internet is moving from a research based medium to more of an entertainment and communication medium. But I caution that this does not mean that the Internet has ceased to be an information medium. It simply means that in the evolutionary process more functionality is being layered on to it. In the beginning of the process, due to the limitations of technology, searches were the only options available and sites like Yahoo and later Google dominated. Now with the addition of high speed access, faster processors and a more robust infrastructure we can have streaming video and live interaction.

In summary I simply caution that when you see some of these statistical headlines that you be sure to delve a bit deeper to try and understand the bigger picture in an attempt to separate the lies from the damn lies.

How to Get Something for Nothing From the Internet

While on YouTube last month I came across a video talking about getting free gadgets off the internet. In particular a Company called Freebie Jeebies. As like most people getting something for nothing is very appealing but always rings alarm bells in my head and to proceed with caution. The amount of scammers on the internet these days I thought to myself this is probably just another one trying there luck.

So I clicked on the link which took me to their website. Having a look around I wanted to see how the site operated, if it was a legit company was it VAT registered?, and how can they claim to give away free gadgets? Looking on the first page was a VAT number so on to Companies House to make sure the number was correct, which surprisingly it was. OK looking good so far so how can they give away free gadgets? I looked at their FAQ and the first question on the list is How does this work? Answer - All you need to do to receive a gift is sign up, complete one offer yourself, and refer friends to do the same. We are paid commission for each offer completed by you and your referrals and we use this money to pay for the gifts.

Seemed fairly straight forward but what about these offers? This must surely if it is a scam where it comes into play. So I click on the offers page and im presented with a list of companies ranging from Insurance or Betting sites to Bingo and Website hosters. The cost to complete each offer varies from 5 up to 25

So from being on the site everything seems to tie in so far. The company seems to be legit the offers direct you to other big named companies sites to sign up so no problems their. Freebie jeebie earn commission on each sign up. To enable them to give away the free gadgets they give a cut of this commission. Seems to me its starting to make sense.

I still had to get definite proof that this is in fact the real deal. Seen as I came across this company originally on YouTube I thought it was a good place to start. Typing Freebie Jeebie into YouTube brings up quite a few videos. The ones that caught my attention were a couple of clips taken from CNN news and also BBC news. The CNN article wasn't on Freebie jeebie as such but more on how the process works and generalised that type of company.

So now I wanted to get feedback from people like you and me who are not connected to these sites and would give honest options. To start with I did find lots of comments from people on Yahoo and what they thought about this company. The phrase "it was a scam" came into use a few times but their comments to me were just hear say. None of them actually registered and tried out the company.

Next I searched Google looking for a forum of some sort. First in the list was a site called rel=nofollow http://www.exceem.co.uk This site was dedicated to getting free items from sites like Freebie Jeebie. To view the threads I needed to register. After registering a had a look around. The site had been going for a few years and had over 28,000 members. This was looking promising. I came away from the site feeling fairly confident this was no hoax and that you can actually get something for nothing. One thread was all about what people had already received and asks you to post a picture of you opening up your free gifts. As you can imagine there were pages and pages of photos from members. +

Feeling fairly confident Freebie Jeebie was a legit site there was nothing else to do but have a crack at it myself. The Exceem forum is all I needed to get started. It and a lot of its members are very helpful and most questions I had, had already been asked. The bottom line is all about getting referrals. Each referral you make is basically 20 towards whichever gadget you want. So how do you go about it? They recommend a few things Posting on Forums, creating posters and leaflets, creating a website.

Leaflets and posters to me were a waste of time. To get maximum about of people it had to be online. So that's what I've been doing. I easily created a website giving all the info needed about the process etc this linking back to freebie jeebie. Then on to forums, getting involved in conversations making sure my signature links back to my website.

At the time of writing this article I have already received two iPhones with very little effort. I plan to let this keep going for one year until my domain runs out. After the year is up ill be able to properly answer my question What can you actually get for nothing these days? But already I can say with confidence more than you think!!!

Thanks

Cameron http://www.getafreeiphone.org.uk

Making Space For a Spouse While Working From Home

I admire couples who can work from home together and not strangle each other by the end of the day. It's not that I'm unreasonable, bitchy or territorial (at least not all of the time), but there's no way I could stand to share an office with a spouse. Period.

Part of the reason is that I'm from a family of five kids which makes me want my own space, my own supplies and as much privacy as possible. My site is called Working Naked, after all.

The other part is that too much of a good thing can be bad. You may adore your spouse but if you spend every day and night with him or her, you may drain the fun out of your business and your relationship.

If you're still willing to work with your spouse, there are a few ways to keep the peace so no one considers hiring a hit man by closing time.

Buy duplicate supplies. No one likes to reach for a stapler and realize it's on someone else's desk or in another room. Get creative and buy two sets of office supplies in different colors.
Use separate equipment. There's nothing wrong with cutting costs, but sharing a computer to save money will cost you in the long run. Whether you use a desktop and your spouse uses a laptop, each of you should have your own equipment. If neither one of you needs to print often, share a printer.
Leave the room when you need to take a call. Unless you can talk quietly and not bother your spouse while he or she is in the office, leave the room. Anyway, it's good to get away from your desk throughout the day.
Use separate desks. Whether you install a long counter with two workspaces or use two desks, keep them away from each other.
Stay in your own territory. If you and your spouse have different working styles, a neat freak spouse doesn't want to find stacks of paper on his or her desk. Keep your piles to yourself. If you're the pack rat spouse and like to work with papers piled everywhere, your picky spouse may drive you nuts when he or she tries to straighten the piles or convince you to toss everything.
Compromise on the temperature. You may like the office to be as cold as a meat locker, but not everyone likes to wear three sweaters, a hat and gloves to work. Consider using a fan for your side of the room and keep the thermostat at a reasonable temperature.I'm a firm believer in everyone working together, but not always in the same space.

The My Shopping Genie, Everything You Need To Know!

So what do these three gentlemen have in common?

William Shaw- (Ted Turner's business partner who helped him build TBS and CNN,)

Mark Levesque-(Executive Director, Pastor and Elder for Discovery Church in St.Peters, MO who's expertise is the Internet,) and

Bruce Wolferding- (A bank owner with a strong financial expertise.)

Well, several thing actually. First, these three men are on the Executive Committee at MyNet Universe. Secondly, they all share the same level of belief in the technology and concept of the My Shopping Genie technology.

William Shaw says he believes MyNet Universe has many of the same similarities and explosive growth potential that TBS had in its infancy.

The reason I think it is important to know who these guys are is because it brings some great credibility to the company. This has a direct impact on the level of belief and the ability for people to get behind the company and it's mission. MyNet Universe is very well funded and has some great leaders at the helm.

Just a little more information about the company:

- Founded in 2007 in Dallas Tx

- Global Headquarters in St Louis, MO

- 15,000 sq ft facility

- Live Customer Service

- International Expansion

- Patented Software Application

- Global Merchant Accounts

- Well Funded

So what exactly is the My Shopping Genie? The Genie is a "Web Slice" technology. It's a web application that rides "On Top" of the search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. When you do a search with your favorite search engine the Genie appears and instantly finds the lowest price online for what you just searched for. This save tons of time and money. The average family using the Genie save $200 -$300 per month.

The Genie also provides access to over a million coupons for groceries, restaurants and other items.

The Shopping Genie web app is actually a FREE download that is certified to be 100% safe and contains no spyware, adware and does not collect any information from your computer. You don't need to sign up for anything and you do not even need to provide your email address. This is definitely a breath of fresh in this day of spammers.

So we have established that the Shopping Genie is a product that consumers want and actually is valuable to them. Right now the company says that there are now on average of over 5000 Genie's installed daily. We know it does work as promised and there is no competition.

Here are several point:

- Streamlined Internet Shopping.

- Patented Software Application

- Rides on top of Google

- Saves Time and Money

- It's FREE

- It does find the best price

- Everyone is a customer

Now that we know about the company and the product, lets talk about the opportunity that the Shopping Genie provides. It really offers an opportunity for everyone. Whether you simply want to make a passive income by giving away the free product or if you are a Network Marketer and you want to build a huge organization. MyNet Universe is the only company that pays it's distributors Pay Per Click revenue.

The Genie is only available to download from an authorized MyNet Universe Distributor.

This provides an excellent opportunity to make an income by becoming an Independent Distributor. As a Genie Distributor, you are able to give away an unlimited amount of Genie's for free. As the user shops or does a price comparison online, you the distributor are paid Pay Per Click income. This is the same way that Google made over 23 billion dollars last year. The Pay Per Click (PPC) income is only for directing traffic really, no purchases made. If the user does purchase an item from one of the affiliates like Amazon or one of their thousands of venders, the distributor is paid Pay Per Sale which is a percentage of the purchase price. Another income stream is Pay Per Lead.

The concept is actually pretty amazing if you think about it. You can make money by giving away something for free and the user does not even need to purchase anything for you to make your PPC income. Where else can you do this? This is a perfect way for literally almost anyone to make extra money on the Internet and never sell anything.

That's not all folks, it gets even better. The Shopping Genie is also a way that a business can advertise on the Front Page of every major search engine and get paid to do it! Your license as a distributor allows you to place your logo or text on the Shopping Genie. Whenever the user does a search on the Internet for anything, the Genie appears along with your logo. The logo is a "live" link that you have control over and you can send the user to your website or coupon or literally any place you want. Businesses just give away the Genie to all their customers and tell them to download the Genie to get access to the coupons or sale items. This is a great way for the business to build brand awareness, customer loyalty and also to build a great side income stream.

This same concept also works for fundraising as well. Non-profits, churches, schools and charities, can use the Genie as a fund raiser. Instead of having a bake sale, car wash or asking for donations, they simply become a distributor of the Shopping Genie. They can than simply ask their donors to download the Genie and also to tell their friends and family to so as well. This of course will generate Pay Per Click income for the charity that will continue month after month. Some call the Shopping Genie the "Perfect Fund Raising Tool."

The whole PPC income side of this opportunity is truly unique and has great potential. However, this is only half of the income potential with the rel=nofollow [http://www.paidtogive.net]Shopping Genie opportunity.

You also have the option to refer others to become distributors as well. This is the Network Marketing side of the Shopping Genie. You can earn weekly team building income. The company has put together a great compensation plan, which is a separate income stream from the PPC income.

One of the exciting benefits of this plan is that you can qualify to earn a 20% matching Click Income bonus every month. This means if someone you sold a license to is making $1000.00 per month on click income, you would get a 20% matching bonus of $200.00. This can add up quick when you build a team and get a 20% match on all of their click income.

At the Global Power distributor level you will actually get a 20% check match on all your personally enrolled distributors. So if your have 100 distributors in your team that are averaging $500 per month, you would be making $10,000.00 per month just on this one bonus. MyNet Universe has put together a very good comp plan and when you couple that with a product that is free, you have a very unique and profitable opportunity.

I know of no other opportunity in existence that will offer you the ability to tap into the enormous Pay Per Click revenue stream. This truly appears to be a one of a kind opportunity and at the perfect time I might add. They do offer a 30 day money back guarantee so try it out, there is no risk. This type of business actually has more potential in a down economy. Everyone wants to save money.
