Think Carefully When Adding Keywords

Keywords are an important requirement on every website because they can help the browsers such as Google find your website and give it a higher listing if it has matching keywords to what the searcher is looking for.

I'll use a printer supplies website as an example. Try to imagine what a person looking for an inkjet or toner cartridge would type in to the search engine. It could be the manufacturer such as Epson or the model number or the cartridge code. So it was important to list all if possible. With cartridges the number is small such as inkjet cartridges or toner cartridges. You could even add more information such as Black Inkjet and Black Toner but then we have the colours Cyan Magenta Yellow and with Photo Inks there are also Light Cyan and Light Magenta. Some Professional printers take as many as 10 different cartridges.

Listing Cartridge Product Codes is a major issue as there are so many and new ones are being introduced all the time. But to get a good listing with the search engines it is important to keep these lists up to date. However keywords are not the only thing the browsers look for, the actual website content is important too so they will actually look for your product listing as listed on your website and this has to be kept up to date because this is the listing which customers will use to order the product. So if the listing is out of date your customer will leave your site very quickly and may not return because they feel your website is out of date.

Ezine articles and Newsletters with links back to your website can also be very useful as the search engines may pick it up and see it as an incoming link to your website which gives it more points and a chance to get on the first page of the search engine. Most people who browse the internet may not go further than the first or second page of their browser.

When looking for a product to purchase on the internet it is important that the website you wish to purchase from is well laid out and the products are easy to find. The average buyer cannot be bothered wasting time trying to find what they are looking for. When shoppers enter a retail store with a street frontage they seem to be willing to search for the product they are looking for but when shopping on the internet it is vital that the required product is easy to find.

Bookshops which have a web presence will list their books by category such as fiction, non-fiction, biography, history, reference, etc. So whatever product is being sold must be categorised. A successful marketer who sells supplies for printers will have separate categories for different printer manufacturers such as Canon, Epson, HP, Lexmark, Brother etc. Then by sub category such as Inkjet, Toner, Fax Rolls etc. Finally you can search for your printer model number and you will then be offered a list of genuine and if available compatible cartridges for your particular model of printer. This makes it much easier for the buyers to find what they are looking for.

Making a payment should be simple too. As many payment choices as possible should be offered. There are still many buyers who are not happy giving their credit card details over the internet, and that is understandable as there is a considerable amount of credit card fraud on the internet. Paypal has now proved itself to be a safer way to pay. Direct Deposit to the sellers bank account or the ability to put a personal cheque or money order in the mail are also secure ways of paying and should be on the list of payment methods advertised on the website.
