It really is an interesting question, considering that it's often stated that to actually make a significant change in your life, or lifestyle, you must also be willing to make personal changes. You may then ask what exactly does this infer?

When You're Down - Motivation For Network Marketers

The most critically important part of this quote is that the first thing that needs to be to be headed in the right direction if you are going to be successful is your head. Every great action starts with a great thought. One example from my life is illustrative of this principle. It was the end of March and I was getting ready for a marathon in September. At that point I was trying to run 15-20 miles a week, but with no real need to run fast or train hard because my real preparation wouldn't start until mid May. I was consistently running about 8:15 miles. Good for me, but not great. All of a sudden something happened. An announcement was posted at work stating that we would be having a race between employees and the boss! If you beat the boss you would get $50! I wanted to really kick butt at that race! I went out the night of the announcement and ran 3 miles. I had run three miles two days before and was right at that 8:15 pace. But that night...my pace was 7:15! A whole minute per mile faster, and I felt great! Why? What made the change? The only difference was that now in my head I saw a finish line, cheering crowds of co-workers, and a fresh $50 bill! Once my thought process changed, my entire performance changed. I ran faster and felt better than I had in months. Once again, the only difference was that I had "improved my head." The same is true with every part of life and business. You can only go as far as your ambition and imagination can take you. Pessimists rarely produce and cynics rarely contribute. If you have hit a wall or feel depressed or discouraged, you can usually start the process of improvement by starting with your head.

How do you do that?

One good place to start is your list of 20. Twenty things that you have done over the past year that have been successful and twenty things that you are exceptionally grateful for. This simple activity will help remind you of the great things in life and the great things that you can do. Something as simple as not getting upset at a child or friend can be an accomplishment! Something as little as getting a little better at managing your money. You have done 20 great things over the past year and you need to remember to be grateful for what you have and excited about the things you have done.

Another good way to get your mind going in the right direction is the same thing that had such an effect on my running. I suddenly had a new goal with a new date, a new reward, and a new goal time to shoot for. You can do the same thing for you in your life or business. Get out another piece of paper (after making your list of 20) and start writing or drawing. What do you want to have happen? (for me beating the boss and running a 5K in under 20 minutes.) How will your life be different both physically and emotionally? (for me $50 and the admiration of my co-workers J) Why do you want this? What would be the effect if you didn't get it? How will you feel when you get it? These powerful questions will help you start getting your head in the right place.

Once you have made the metal changes needed you simply need to start deciding what your next steps are. For me it was getting online and following a running program that set out daily workouts that got me ready to run my race. You may turn to a trusted friend or family member to get some ideas on how to implement the ideas that you have developed or the path may become clear on its own. No matter what your #2 and #3 steps are your #1 step is always to get your head going in the right direction and everything else will tend to follow!

Achieving Your Goals - Principles and Strategies For Building a Solid Online Business - Part Two

Five months before completing the Chicago Marathon, I had never run in a race before. I was not a runner. Somehow my friend and I convinced each other that we would run that year. At first I would run to his house and back. It was more of a walk run. But I was proud that I was able to make the two miles to his house. Later, when I actually measured the distance, it was no where near two miles. It was a lot less!

During that time I had to make some changes in my life in order to accomplish the goal. The first thing I had to do was to fix firmly in my imagination the goal of crossing the finish line. As great a goal as that may seem, I had my own doubts about my ability to complete the task. In addition, there were people in my life who told me it was too dangerous or that I was too old to do it. Having a vision in my mind that I returned to often helped to move me through the obstacles.

I had to be persistent. At any time during my training I could've chosen to quit. And if I quit three quarters of the way there, I might as well not have even started. I needed to learn how to run. I picked up a copy of the "Non Runners Guide to the Marathon. The book gave me strategies and guidance so that I would be able to pace myself, obtain my goal and not burn myself out along the way. I could have set too high a pace and destroyed my chance of success.

I found support. My friend and I would run together during training. Eventually it came down to us starting together and then me meeting him at the end of the course where I finally caught up. I also discovered how many people around me were also running the marathon. I become aware of others who were also pushing themselves to obtain their goals.

I had to focus. Hot days, cold days and rainy days, I ran in all of them. Sometimes I had to get up early to run (I'm not a morning person). And near the end of my training I ran the end of my long runs in the dark, in the woods. I placed one foot in front of the other until I found myself, five months later crossing the finish line.

To achieve your goals of financial independence, you will have to do things you might not be doing today. You will have to hold tightly to your vision through out the many obstacles that you will encounter and at the same time, not blow your self out of the water by setting the pace too high or having unrealistic expectations.

You will have to change some of your routines and some of your priorities. You'll have to focus, be determined and seek out the information and people who will help you on your journey to success.

In five months you may not be wealthy, but you could very well be experiencing the start of a life of financial independence. It may not be a sprint, but as I learned while training, five months go by quickly. How much closer to your dreams will you be in five months?

However the excitement soon diminishes and is tainted by doubt when people start to implement the strategies and become exposed to more and more of the internet marketing sphere. The reason for this is simple- they see a lot of other people implementing exactly the same strategies, leading to the conclusion that the area is already saturated and that it's too hard to stand out amongst the competition.

Nobody ever said that internet marketing would be easy. Although competitive, thinking that that the market is saturated is simply incorrect for several reasons:

1) You are calling out to YOUR tribe.

The premise of attraction marketing is that people will always join a leader, not a company. Why aren't I free?", These personalities will stop trying because 'it's too hard' and there's no point because 'everyone's doing it'. However if one thing's for sure, stopping is a sure way to fail at anything.

3) People will implement strategies differently

Even though everyone may be executing similar strategies, there are a LOT of people out there who are not implementing the strategies effectively or properly. People are ultimately different, with varying strengths and weaknesses, thus everyone will experience success to different degrees. A person's execution weeds out the diamonds from the coal. Thus having an entrepreneurial mind with the ability to tweak and adjust strategies to reflect a changing market is essential.

4) Look at the market from a 'fresh' pair of eyes

People involved in the internet marketing sphere probably have a skewed view of the market itself. People within the industry know that keeping up to date with information and consistently learning skills towards internet mastery is the key to success. But because you are always looking at information within internet marketing, you are bound to see replicated techniques. However for those who have never been exposed to the industry, they will be learning these strategies for the first time and from a fresh pair of eyes.
