Sizing Up Your Website's Competition

Today we are going to talk about online competition. More often than not, our clients tell us that they want a website because they need to compete online with competitors in the marketplace. Or more accurately, they tell us they want a website because the competition has one. All of our lives we have been taught that being first in our chosen endeavors is how you should strive to go through life. Academics, promotions, black Friday sales. =) But when it comes to having a website, being second or even last amongst your competition can have tremendous advantages.

Here's are 3 key reasons why:

1. Design. They've put themselves out there already so you and your design team can analyze their website and "cherry pick" the good and throw out the bad and come up with a design that is more relevant for your industry and more importantly your targeted customer base.

2. Keyword Analysis. (Yes this is part of SEO farther down in the article, but thought it important enough to stand on its own for this writing). If you've looked at the Web Design of Kansas website, or read this blog you should be aware that we are an SEO focused web design company. Keywords and content (to us) are as important to design. Analyzing your competitions keywords and location of those keywords is outstanding intelligence you can use to write your content, page titles and meta tag data. Need help? Well you're in luck. The internet has plenty of keyword analysis tools that you can use for FREE.

Google Keyword Analysis Tool: A great tool to identify keywords. All you need to do is enter the website address of any website and Google will do its magic and identify the top keywords, the advertising competition for those keywords, and the global monthly searches for those keywords. FYI - this is offered as part of Google's AdWords platform and that is why you have an "advertising competition" category in the results.

SEO Book Keyword Analysis Tool: Another version of keyword analysis, SEO Toolbook will provide a listing of single keywords, two word keyword phrases, and 3 word keyword phrases as well as the number of times they are used on the web page and their keyword density.

SEO Analysis: If you haven't gotten the "memo", SEO and all of the techniques involved as compared to your competition is what gives a website a potentially superior ranking. So it stands to reason that analyzing your competitors website for SEO strengths and weaknesses makes good sense, right?

Website Grader by HubSpot is a great tool to get a 'real time' and FREE SEO analysis of your competitors website(s). The Website Grader delivers important information covering several categories that are important to SEO and can help you determine how SEO healthy your competitors websites are and what you need to do to match and hopefully surpass them in the future.

Back links to your competitors site. If your competitors have been online for any length of time they have been establishing back links. And many of them may be from vendors that you both use. Wouldn't it be great to know which ones so you could ask for a back link as well? You can, very simply. Head over to our old friend Google and type this into the search bar and type the word links, followed by a colon, followed by the name of the website you want to check.

links:somesite.com

What will come up is a list of every back link that goes to your competitors website. Reviewing these will allow you to determine the value of these links and provides a great start to building your own 'vitally important' inbound link strategy.

Alright, there you go. A good fundamental understanding of what you can use to uncover your competitors online strengths and weaknesses. This information can prove to be very valuable as you work develop an online marketing and deployment strategy. But always keep in mind: "what is good for the goose is good for the gander". These techniques could be used on your site as well. Oh well, just have the best site out there so all of your competitors are jealous, right?

3 Levels Of Making Money On The Internet

If you're new to using the internet to make money, all the information out there is likely to confuse or overwhelm you. While there are many technical issues to deal with on the road to internet riches, the most important thing is knowing which roads to start traveling.

If you're a beginner, use the KISS method. And I don't mean getting fresh with your buyers. I mean "Keep it simple stupid". Don't take offense. In the magical, ever-changing world of internet business, nearly all of us are members of the stupid group. Or at least on daypasses from time to time. And just as someone who can't dance should keep their actions to a minimum, so should you. At least until you get your groove on.

Level 1:
eBay and Craigslist -- If you're an internet selling virgin, make your first buck with one of these net-giants. Go ahead and sell those unworn leather pants that live in the back of your closet. Or complain about the $5 price tag on a yard sale lamp and then sell it for $50 online.

Whenever possible stick to the big guys that nearly everyone has heard of. Many obscure websites claim to be popular, when in reality, there would be more visitors to Lindsay Lohan's jail cell, than to your posting.

Level 2:
Your very own website -- To many people, having their own website is a "some day" kinda thing. Like how you're planning on some day starting a Rolling Stones tribute band. But while imitating Mick Jagger's sexy moves may be hard, building a website doesn't have to be. And just like your tribute band's shows would likely be, websites can be free! Google "free website" and find the one that's right for you.

Level 3:
Affiliate Marketing -- If you're at the point where your websites, articles, videos, and other content are being viewed more than the Twilight rentals at your local video store, you'll want to look into affiliate marketing. As my aim is to keep this article simple, I won't go into much detail. Websites like ClickBank or Commission Junction can get you on your way.

Hopefully I've pointed you in the right direction, like a hunting dog towards an unlucky duck. FYI, Peta people, the only time I hunted animals was in Nintendo's Duck Hunt. Don't throw paint on me.

Take some small steps today and you'll see that the internet is not that scary as long as you stick to the well lit areas. Keep an eye out for Help sections and Tutorials, and you'll be fine. Whether you make a dollar or make a million, is up to you.

And if you're still thinking about all the reasons why now is not the time, you'll benefit from the material on my website: rel=nofollow http://www.attractivemind.com

The Must Read Guide to Internet Slang

So, last night I was online browsing through friends' Facebook statuses when I received a notification that someone commented my last blog. All they responded with was "SMH". Now, I'm pretty good with the whole internet lingo thing and I've heard this term many times before. However, I just always assumed it was one of those noises people make. Kind of like how 'haha' means you're laughing and 'shhh' means be quiet. I honestly thought 'smh' was just a sound that voiced some kind of disapproval.

And then I Googled.

Turns out, smh, actually stands for 'shaking my head'. I couldn't believe that I never knew this. And then I started wondering, what other internet expressions do I not know?? What other internet jargon does everyone else not know?!?

So, here it is.

I've compiled a list of the common (and a few not so common) internet terminologies. Feel free to comment with your own favorite term as well So, here it is.

Freelance Writing Advice - How to Make Money While You Travel the World As Freelance Writer

Many dream of breaking free from the 9 to 5 grind, travelling the world and making a living. Freelance writing is one easy way to do it. All you need is a laptop and an internet connection wherever you land, and you're good to go.

Following are three things you can do to start travelling the world as a freelance writer and having the carefree existence you want.

1. Decide on a Niche: One of the hottest niches in freelance writing right now is search engine optimization writing (aka SEO writing). You can train to do this type of writing in a couple of weeks (or less) and start charging clients $25+ for a 250-word blog post, for example.

FYI, this is the low end of what many SEO writers charge. But, with 5, 6 or 7 clients commissioning one or two pieces of content a day, you can see how it can really add up.

Running the SEO Writing Numbers

Let's say you get five clients, and each one orders 5 blog posts and 2 articles per week. FYI, this is very standard. If you charged $25 for each 250-word blog posts and $35 for each 350-word articles, you would be bringing in $975 per week (before taxes). That's equivalent to a $50,000+/year job.

What other kind of telecommuting job which requires so little training do you know of where you can earn this kind of money - quickly?

Many SEO writers start making money within the first few days of marketing. This freelance writing niche is that hot!

Once you decide on a niche, then you need to...

2. Get Some Freelance Writing Training: You can conduct research online for almost any kind of freelance writing niche, eg, sales copywriting, SEO writing, press release writing, etc. You don't have to pay for a class.

But, if you want to get up and going quickly, enrolling in a class that teaches the type of writing you want to do is the easiest way to go. Also, the instructor will be able to answer questions as you start your freelance writing journey.

3. Get a Website: It's a necessity. All you need is a basic website. On it, list your prices, the services you provide and a few writing samples.

If you decide to go the SEO writing route, for example, this is all most clients require. Most just want to know how much you charge for content and what your turnaround time is.

Literally within a month or two, you can start making enough money to quit your full-time job and make plans for the carefree existence you crave.

Good luck!

Yuwanda Black has been a freelance writer since 1993. In the spring of 2010, she took her freelance writing career on the road -- to Negril, Jamaica -- for a year. If you yearn to break free from a 9 to 5 existence and travel the world as a freelance writer, get [http://www.seowritingjobs.com/seo-copywriting-training/]SEO copywriting training. It a technical writing career that pays well, is easy to learn and you can be up and running in a few weeks -- or less -- really.

Worldventures Biz - 4 Undeniable Factoids to Explode Your Worldventures Biz

Hey There World! Or should I say Worldventures. That's right everyone. This network marketing company based in the travel industry is definitely making waves. BIG WAVES. Huge revenues and growth are making this MLM company one to contend with. I did some research and here's what I found.

First Off, Worldventures seems like a travel company on the surface. But this MLM is definitely a lifestyle company. After all, they do a fantastic job of selling the dream. Travel and see the WORLD for LESS MONEY! And who doesn't want to do more of that? Worldventures biz opportunity combines the power of the internet and network marketing which has led to MASSIVE results in the few short years since they first launched. FYI, Worldventures started in 2005 and is based out of Plano, TX.

As grandiose as the company and their pay plan may seem, here are 4 things you should probably know if you intend to launch a Worldventures biz:

1) Biz Packages - First, there are a couple of ways to get your feet wet with Worldventures. You can start as an independent consultant with either the "Dream Trips Membership" or the "Leisure Travel Consultant Package", LTC for short. These both have slight differences in the way you get paid and what you ultimately have access to. Right now, you can get started with a one-time set up fee of $199 and a recurring fee of either $29 or $49 depending on which package you choose. Either way, the set-up fee is SUPER LOW which puts a smile on my face (and your face too hopefully).

2) 90/90 RULE - The 90 What Rule?? The 90/90 rule basically says that your must maintain at least 90 distributors on each side of your binary matrix to get paid residual income. Otherwise, NO GO on the RESIDUAL. In layman's terms that means you have to have 90 people per side in your network marketing organization to take home any residual earnings. That's a pretty hefty standard considering most network marketers never recruit more than 2 to 3 people tops. That's the industry statistic. Don't HATE on me. I'm just the messenger. In other words, you hopefully have a killer plan to generate a MASSIVE FLOW OF LEADS on a daily basis to maintain those numbers.

3) Marketing System - I have to admit, Worldventures put together some pretty nifty (meaning "Hi-Tech") video, training and marketing tools. But there's just ONE SMALL PROBLEM. The primary marketing plan still teaches people to promote the company. Any serious modern day network marketer knows that people join your biz opp because of you, not JUST YOUR COMPANY. So how does Worldventures work in the ability to help you PROMOTE YOU? How does Worldventures help you BRAND YOU? Ohhh... whoops. They DON'T...

4) 97% FAILURE RATE - That's right ladies and gentlemen. 97% of network marketers NEVER make it. I know... so sad but so true. That's because 97% of network marketers don't have any clue how to market effectively. Worldventures gives you a ton of great tools like any reputable network marketing company should. But how are you going to PROMOTE YOU? What happens if the company goes under? Who gets to keep your book of business that you built with your blood, sweat and tears? I hope you have a good answer for this one.

All in all, Worldventures Biz Opp is a fantastic MLM. The company's top producers are making a killing and you can to if you apply yourself. Just remember, the name of the game is MARKETING. Afterall, the second word in "Network Marketing" is MARKETING. You must master the art of marketing online and if you can pull that off, you can bring home the bacon and eat it too. Unless of course you're a vegetarian.

Funny Ways Your "Warm Market" Will Disqualify Themselves

In this internet age, it is not uncommon for many of our new representatives to not want to introduce their new business opportunity to their warm market: friends, family and acquaintances. They much rather favor their Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. contacts.

The underlying reason for steering clear of our warm market is that we do not want to be rejected by people we know. It feels so icky.

But the simple fact is to overlook your warm market is to overlook a potential network marketing superstar that they might know. Or some network marketing pro who may have approached them.

Unlike total strangers who will give you a yes or a no, a warm market contact will usually keep you dangling. Although some will be rather hurtful with their no's.

I look at both the fence-sitters (cannot make a decision) and the no's as disqualifying themselves. This is why I encourage new representatives to quickly run through their warm market while simultaneously building their Facebook friends or Twitter followers which takes time.

When you sort your warm market at the beginning of your network marketing business, you will not be wasting your time with them "down the road" while your business is starting to gain some momentum. And, the best part about it is, once you have contacted the last person on your warm market list, you will not have to go back to it again. If they decide to join your business in the future, fine. If not, that is fine too.

The funny part about it is, most of your warm market will be willing to donate a kidney to you should you need one but will not even consider joining one of those network marketing "things". I recently decided to have a group presentation at our house for some of my warm market. Here are some of the responses:
• We cannot make it because we might be going out.
• You do not want me there, you know how negative I get.
• I would rather sit at home, watch TV and eat pistachio nuts. (I kid you not, that was one of the responses from a close friend.)
• I will try to make it. (I always respond to the "try" excuse with a "I will count that as a no. Should you decide that you can come, give me a call and I will try to squeeze you in.")
• Call me after you make your first million then I will go to your meeting.
• I might be baby sitting if my son and daughter-in-law go shopping.
• Do you see the word FOOL tattooed on my forehead?
• Those Amway things don't work. I can't believe they roped you into another one. (FYI: Amway does $7 Billion+...and our network marketing industry does $130+ Billion. Yeah, right, they don't work.)

I have heard them all in my 16 years in network marketing. As you will too. Now I just look at these statements not as rejecting me or my business but as members of my warm market disqualifying themselves from participating in my business at this time. Next. [http://www.andyacci.com]Andy has been a network marketer for 15+ years. Of late, he has focused on mentoring other network marketers over the internet. Make Money Online - What You Are Doing and What You Have to Do

If you are trying to make money online and just can't seem to break the barrier or if you are completely new, I am going to give you some much needed advice. Take it from me because I have been there, done that. Most people online have had the same problem. For some, it may take much longer than it will for others. What we all have had in common is the fact that we were trying to do too much. Way too many things on our plate, so to speak. Even a professional can only juggle so many balls.

To simplify things a little, let's say you are one of those people who are having a little success but can't quite get what it takes to bring in a very good income while trying to make money online. Let me ask you this. How many different projects have you got on the go? I bet you have quite a few, whether you are active in all them or not. You still have way too much to think about. With all those projects on the go, it is going to be near impossible for you to succeed. Unless you are about as lucky as one of those people who win the lotto. The thing is, the odds say you probably will never win. Those are the odds of you succeeding if you are jumping from project to project. We will discuss a few things that you have to do later in this article.

Now for those of you who are new to online marketing and really want to make money online. You probably are banging your head against the wall to come up with a product to sell online. Maybe you have chosen a product, possibly built a website or a blog, tried a few traffic generation techniques with little or no success. You probably did this for a short time and started to build another website for another product or products and went through the same vicious circle. It becomes heart breaking and mind numbing. You are probably so confused you are driving yourself crazy. Stick around because I have some helpful advice for you as well.

Maybe you are a complete newbie and wish to make money online. You probably don't have a clue and you want to start reading everything you can to get some knowledge. You probably don't know anything about building a website or blog and possibly are thinking about those free websites with products already on them or MLM programs. You may not even know what MLM stands for at this point in time. FYI (Multi Level Marketing). You have a large learning curve to go through but if you keep reading I can shorten the time from when you are not making money to the time you are bringing in a good amount of money. Please don't quit your regular job just yet. It takes time to make money online and enjoy a lifestyle of a great income. Lying around the pool or vacationing while your efforts make you money, takes time and automation. Don't get discouraged, it can happen much quicker if you do it right.

In all the different scenarios above there is one main thing you have to do to make money online. There are different measures you need to do to accomplish the main thing but it is most important to simplify things in order to become successful online. How do you do that you may ask? Take everything you have that is not working for you on your computer and either get rid of it or put it in a folder and put it somewhere you are not going to look at it. I am talking about everything from websites, blogs, domain names, eBay and absolutely everything that is not working for you at the moment. This will give you less to think about.

Now it is time to get organized. Don't put it off, do it now and continue on with it until you finish. Leave checking stats and email alone until you get it done. Create a Business folder and write a note book explanation to yourself what you are doing to organize. Now create folders inside that business folder such as traffic, content, and websites, whatever you can think of and put the appropriate information in them as you go. Create folders inside those folders and name them so you can find them easily if you need them, such as inside the traffic folder you can create a training pdf folder for all your traffic training pdf's and so on Also create a folder for resources and place your resources in there when you read about them in your training material or from your email and such. Keep it organized as you go because it will save you a whole lot of time when you are working on a project.

Now with everything organized you can start to make money online. How do I do that you ask? Take a project you have had some success with or a project you are interested in. For those who are completely new at this there some low price information products out there to help you choose a product or project. Work on that project with all other projects completely out of your mind for the time being. Get the appropriate training for that project whether it is building a website or building a squeeze page or setting up an auto responder series. Pick the product or project through research. Get the blog or website ready; get your auto responder series ready. It doesn't have to be perfect, it can and in most every case will be tweaked. The main thing is get it done without any other distractions.

Now you have everything organized and I don't mean take weeks to do this. You have the website necessary for your product or project. Now here is one of the most important tid bits of advice I can give you. You will not make one cent unless you get this product or project in front of a lot of people's eyes. You need lots of traffic to make this work and this is where most people fail. They run off and try something else before they get a great deal of traffic.

Work on getting traffic. Don't start something else yet. You will not make money if you wait for the traffic to come to you. You have to make it happen. Get out of your comfort zone. Write the articles, submit the articles, submit an ad to ezines, do the social networking sites. Think traffic, don't stop at one method. Do not just write one article, continue to write more. Learn what is necessary to get a particular traffic technique done, implement it and continue to implement it while learning new traffic methods.

When you have accomplished your goal and the product has become successful you can now start a new project if you wish. Your income on the first project should be automated by now. The hardest has been accomplished. The learning curve has become much smaller and your next product or project will be much, much easier because of the learning curve. Just remember to get the job done and then be relentless when it comes to generating traffic.
