I have told you about using Google AdWords to help you do your keyword research. When you use that, it gives you 100 search results. That is a good start, but if you are just starting out, it may be that most of those keywords will be pretty tough to compete for.

Remember that in the beginning, you don't want to climb into the ring with a giant competitor, for most of us, that would be really hard to do, especially if we are working with a limited budget. That is where using the Google AdWords tool and stretching it is a great idea. To do that, you have to sign up for a Google AdWords account. It is free to use until you are in the position to actually afford to pay for some advertising and traffic. For now, it will return results for 800 searches.

Eight times the results will help you go way deeper on your quest to find keywords that will start to get you the traffic you need to start generating some money. I know it is a slow process, but remember, slow and steady wins the race. It is not the only thing you need to use, but it is yet another free tool you have access to.

So you have some more homework. When you get your results of 800 keywords, remember to look at the phrases that are three words and more. Those are called long tail keywords, they are descriptive and may deliver customers to your site with wallets open and ready to buy.

There is a lot more to the process, but for today, take the list of keywords you have generated, put some of them back in the tool and generate some more. It is a lot like taking a metal detector and looking for buried treasure, tedious, but worth it when you find the profitable keywords.

I am here to tell you that you should not spend more than five thousand dollars on your first truck mount machine. In my article "Carpet Cleaning Machines 101" I reinforced the point that carpet cleaning machines do two things, spray and suck. There is no reason, if you are starting out, to spend more than 10 thousand dollars on a machine.
What price gets you...
Machines that are in and above the 20k range get you aesthetic value. These machines look pretty, have cool names, and in my opinion are way over-engineered. These machines are pretty exotic, they have sensors, clutches, and other functional parts. These parts will not only break and overhead to your business, but they will also confuse you and add time to each job. Start with a basic spray and suck machine and learn how to use that before upgrading to the machine with all the bells and whistles. As long as you have the PSI, suction, and heat, you are doing fine. You don't need a Ferrari of a machine to do a good job. Keep it simple!
What I did, and what I think you should do...
I searched Craigslist constantly when I was looking for a machine. I was able to pick up a van and machine for under 6 thousand dollars. The van needed a little work, in the end I ended up spending closer to 7 thousand total and now I have a fully functional, good looking truck mount and van. The truth is that I found a great deal. You can too, all you have to do is put a little extra effort in your search for a machine.
Results...
In the end you won't have a loan outstanding to pay for every month. You should be able to own your rig outright in a few months. You will have taken a giant step for your business and for your customers. Think of this as just another step, like when you bought your first machine (if it was a portable), then when you upgrade, you will have a better framework to base your work off.

Bartering conjures up images of trading chickens for a house call by the rural family doctor. Yet, barter networks have emerged as vehicles for a reported transaction value of more than $8 billion per year, plus the billions more swap and trade transactions that go unreported. From personal to corporate transactions, from in-person to online exchanges, the barter infrastructure offers significant opportunities to move goods outside the realm of cash and credit contracts.

For the most part, trade exchanges flourish where there is a diversity of products or services being offered and, consequently, are focused mainly upon urban networking. Bartering may have begun as a mechanism to allow businesses, countries and individuals with limited cash flow but access to desired goods or services to participate in and benefit from a capitalistic market, but has evolved as a valued way of moving surplus inventory or capabilities stock expeditiously. It is estimated that more than 350,000 businesses in the USA alone participate in trade exchanges. The International Reciprocal Trade Association boasts membership of more than 80 corporate barter networks around the world, the National association of Trade Exchanges lists 60 more, with Gigafree.com claiming to have identified over 700 personal and business networks.

Social Networking Groups?

There has been a lot of buzz in the press lately about the revisions in the Groups feature on Facebook. While a long standing feature of the social networking giant, recently the site has implemented changes in the feature intended to enhance its usability.

Groups by definition can be a major and very useful component of social media sites. Basically you are forming a social network-within-a-network. You form groups of friends and share photos, discussions, etc all related to the group focus.
