Google PageRank

Google invented PageRank as an indicator that establishes the importance of a site. Shortly, is an indicator on a scale from 0-10, where a site with PageRank 10 is the best. Google sets so,depending on how many links to your site can be found on other sites. This indicator is very important to position a site in the search engine.

How can you view the PageRank?

PR can be seen,by installing the Google toolbar. If you place the mouse where it says PageRank and leave him there a few seconds it will be shown the PR of the page.If you're curious to see which sites have links to yours, the toolbar can help you in this sense...Click "Backward Links" and you will open the pages that recommends your site. Remember, the more "Backward Links" you have, the more your PageRanking will be higher. This is the key!

Everything works after an exponential algorithm. Below you will see a table with a demonstrative example:

PageRank Check

0.000001 and 5 - 1

6 and 25 - 2

25 and 125 - 3

126 and 625 - 4

626 and 3125 - 5

3126 and 15625 - 6

15626 and 78125 - 7

78 126 and 390625 - 8

390,626 and 1953125 - 9

1953126 infinity - 10

Every externally link(Backward Link) gives a score as well as a system of voting. Remember,if a page with a PR > 0 has several external links, those votes will be split on each link separately.

How important is PR?

A site with a higher PR will appear well ahead of another site with lower PR on Google search engine. That even if the second site is better optimized than the first. But PageRanking is a multiplier, this means that if the site is not optimized at all, but still have a high PR will not be placed in top search engines and vice versa, if the site is well optimized, but haven't a good PR.

How can you improve the PageRank?

I said above that you need as many "Backwards Links" to increase your PR. What you need to do is to look for other sites with similar content and to "negotiate" a link exchange. For this, you need a section on your site for link exchange. It is vital that in this section to be links from other related fields. If you still want to exchange links with other web sites, an effective model is a dynamic web directory, or several pages classified by categories and sections. It is very important to link directly, not through a tracking link redirects. http://www.hoplinkzone.com

Google and Its Language Tools

One of the things I admire with Google is their effort to localize their websites. It dates back to 2001 when they started the "Google in Your Language" project. This project has encouraged thousands of volunteers from different countries to translate Google pages into their native languages. Because of their conscientious effort Google is now available in more than 100 languages.

Google in Your Language project wasn't an easy task but Google is serious in reaching all markets worldwide and perfect their international approach to search. There's notable efforts from Google to reach the Arabic speakers, the South Koreans, the Chinese, the Indians, the Russians, the Brazilians, the New Zealand People, and the Japanese users. This is to ensure that everyone has access to each Google product and tool.

Aside from Google in different languages, they also offer this machine-translation service for free. The service is called Google Translate which so far can translate between 34 languages and is user-friendly. Google Translate can be accessed in the product main page or in Google Language Tools.

What the user just needs to do when he has seen a foreign text in one of the websites he is visiting and he's curious to know what it means, is copy the foreign text and paste it in the Google Translate box. He'll then select the language of the original text in the box and choose what language it will be translated to, say English, in the second box. Then he'll click the translate button. The translated text will appear on the left column. A sample of translated text in Google Translate which is very accurate

Users can also ask Google to translate a webpage by just pasting the URL of that page. And choose from what language to what language it will be translated.

Another cool thing in the Google Translate page is that this page is not limited to perform text or web translations. It can also do Translated Search, where two types of search results appear on the same page. (Left column has search results for the original language, while the right has translated search results.) It also has a Dictionary in different languages and translation, a gadget that users can embed in their websites to offer their visitors option for translation, and the Google Toolbar which users can customized in any of the 34 languages supported.

Conclusion:

Google Language Tools just proves how Google helps improve the Web by giving everyone's access to it through translating languages. It is arguable though if Google has a hidden agenda on doing this translating effort. Are they sincere on breaking the language barrier? Or do they just want to increase their search market and earn more from it. What do you think?

How to Search the Internet Faster

Our lives appear to be getting faster as each day goes by. What's news and new in the morning is old on the train home. If we haven't heard of something by lunchtime we're bored of it by tea-time and by night time we wish it would just go away.

The news is constant and the speed at which we need and devour information is breakneck, you'd be forgiven for wondering how we ever did without 24 hour rolling news and the Internet to give us our fix whenever we sit down in front of a computer screen.

Finding what we need is easy, we simply switch on our computer, open a browser, navigate to Google and search but even that takes time and people get frustrated, so I guess now would be a good time to find out how to do it faster. Much faster!

Yes, rather than give you tips on how to slow down a bit and make more of your life (there are articles on that elsewhere) I thought I'd give you a few tips on how to fuel your crazy life even more and if you don't drop exhausted from a day of searching, how you can find more things to stuff into your brain.

Firstly, you need to stop going to Google all the time. It's fine when it's your homepage but it's not always your homepage and you may want to search from anywhere. And I mean, anywhere. Just been to a news site and read something you don't understand? No good having to then shoot off to Google before searching is it? No, you want it now so you need to install the Google toolbar which will give you the Google search right there in front of you, whatever website you happen to be on.

Simple! But there's more because those clever chaps at Microsoft have given us an ever faster way to search for stuff we've just read.

When reading an article on a site, simply highlight the word you're struggling with or want more information about and then click the mouse. You'll then get a menu of shortcuts, one of which is 'search with Google' - and off you go straight to Google and the answers you require.

So now we're at Google, what can we do now to speed up the process of going through all those results? Well if you're a Firefox user, you can install 'Google Keyboard Shortcuts' - a neat little plugin that lets you use the arrow keys on your keyboard to scroll through results then hit enter to go to the one you want.

So there you go - some super-speedy ways to allow you to consume even more information in your busy life!

How to Create a Free Toolbar

Pretty much everyone has a toolbar on the browser. Even if it is only the Google or yahoo toolbar. As I type this I have the Google toolbar, a toolbar that autofills forms for me. And my own personal toolbar that I created myself. If you are reading this article then I assume that it is the latter you are interested in. My toolbar has links, my own search box and even a chat box. Many people skilled with Html have made toolbars with utterly stunning gadgets on.

Whats more making your own toolbar has even more of a benefit than you may think. You can even make money from it! You can make money for every person that downloads your toolbar and you can earn $50 for each person that you refer. That is a lot of money if you can promote your toolbar properly. Also this website gives you the opportunity to download toolbars that others have made. Some of these are absolutely amazing and will give you daily updates on music, sport, politics. Pretty much anything that you are interested in! You can find the link at the bottom of this page but first I have a tip for you. My guide on my website mentions this but I cannot stress how important it is. Use you social networking sites! I did that and made over $100 in a day! It is surprising how willing your friends will be to help you. And when you show them this website and it helps them as well. Everybody wins!
