Why bother trying to make money with an MLM company? Why bother trying everything under the sun and getting no where. In fact, you even begin to doubt if it is possible to actually make money in this business. After all, you have done everything you were supposed to. Or have you?

If you are not making money with your business then you have done something wrong at some point. How do I know this? Because there are thousands upon thousands of people making money in the network marketing industry. So if they can do it then you can do it.

You have to remember why you even started your MLM business: to make some extra money. This is the easy part. It is simply a want. But what you do about fulfilling that want is where it gets difficult. And really, it only gets as difficult as you make it.

Look Before You Leap Into Network Marketing! Due Diligence

Use a due diligence checklist that will walk you through each of the essential aspects of a network marketing opportunity. Do it right and you will lay a solid foundation for an informed decision and future success.

Doing a Due Diligence simply means to "investigate everything with due diligence BEFORE you sign up so that there are no nasty surprises waiting for you AFTER you've paid over your hard-earned money."

Why do a due diligence when the sign up fees are so low?

That's a good question! Sure it may be cheap to join most network marketing companies but there are three reasons why you should do a proper due diligence.

First, the low cost of the sign-up fee has no bearing on the POTENTIAL of the opportunity. The long-term returns could be much higher than a multi-million dollar investment. If you would do a Due Diligence on a multi-million dollar business, do one now.

Second, a proper due diligence sets you up for success! You will have acquired a much better understanding of what to expect and, more importantly, what it requires of you to get the results you want.

Third, a Due Diligence will save you a bunch of wasted money and time pursuing opportunities that promise the earth (and, for a few extra bucks, the sun and the moon) but have little substance once you scratch the surface.

I suggest that you approach this as a two-step process!

Part 1. Investigate (2 - 4 weeks)

It's going to require an open mind, some money and a few hours of your time. How much time and money you want to invest is entirely up to you but it won't be a fortune! You are just investigating a few opportunities with due diligence.

Decide what industry you want to work in and the type of work you want to do. Then make a list of companies in that field. Check them out and prepare a short-list of two or three companies to investigate more thoroughly.

Investigate each company; its vision and values, products, compensation plan and support systems. Buy some products and try them out, see how you feel about them. How impressed are you by the product and the service behind the product. Lodge a complaint, see how the company responds. Be a demanding customer.

When you're done comparing the companies, decide which one looks best and take it for a 30-day test drive.

Part 2. Evaluate for thirty days.

Having completed the first part of your due diligence it's time to test drive one opportunity for a LIMITED TIME before making your final decision. Get registered and get going for thirty days.

Evaluate all the important aspects of the opportunity by taking effective action, doing the High Pay-off Activities with diligence. How can anyone judge an opportunity's potential sitting at home glued to the television? Get out there and give it your best shot.

Thirty days is long enough to cover all the basics of the opportunity and, if you've been serious about your commitment, you should see some early results. Hopefully have some fun too! That's important.

Give it everything you've got for thirty days. You could change your life!

Thirty days is also long enough for your sponsor or trainer to evaluate your commitment and decide whether or not they are willing to invest their valuable time and effort training you. You are a potential investment for your sponsor and they're doing a due diligence on you! A successful sponsor will be candidly honest if they don't see the level of commitment necessary for success. If they see commitment, they will support it, guaranteed. If they don't, they would just be wasting their time. Get serious, it's serious business.

Here's the action again.

Get registered and be prepared to invest at least ten hours a week of serious, honest commitment learning and doing the High Payoff Activities under the guidance of your sponsor.

At the end of thirty days, sit down with your sponsor, review your results and together make a decision one way or the other. Step up or move on.

If you decide to step up, you have laid a solid foundation for your new business. Just keep building.

But... if you decide to move on, you have learned new skills and all it will have cost you is a few bucks for the registration fee and a few useful products. You will also have a great comparison for the next opportunity you choose to test drive.

Either way, that's a pretty fair deal in my books.

How many companies should you evaluate?

I recommend that you investigate at least two companies. The experience will do you good and, once you do get started with the company of your choice, you won't waste energy wondering if another company might have been better!

You will KNOW with certainty why you made the choice... what's right for you!

Being sure that you are in the RIGHT PLACE is a massive confidence booster for anyone. And that's an important benefit you get by doing a proper due diligence.

With so much to gain and so little to lose, network marketing is definitely worth a decent look!

Setting the Scene With Teamwork

So when my partner came home and suggested that we should go out for lunch and then do the family shopping I was in two minds about going. You know that feeling? If I stay here I might just stare at the page and think that I could have gone out, but if I go out I might not have time to do the article when I get back. Rightly or wrongly, I decided on lunch and shopping with my partner.

On the way back from the supermarket, we took a detour. My partner is involved with a local amateur theatre group, he doesn't have the time available for rehearsals so is rarely in the shows, but he does get involved with set design and building.

The latest production for the theatre group is 'Noises Off' - an ambitious project for a small local group, not least because the set has to revolve twice during the performance. Our detour was to a local warehouse which has been rented for a few weeks to enable the building of the revolving set prior to loading it into the theatre on the week of the show. I am always impressed by how much work amateur groups put in for a show that will only have four performances.

We looked in to see what progress was being made on the set. It looks very much like the computer model and there were people busily painting handrails and cutting up plywood. We stayed just long enough to admire their handiwork and check what time we would be required at the end of the week. Trevor will be there all day on Friday to help break the set into its constituent parts ready for moving. On Saturday we will both be there to load those parts onto a trailer and then meet it at the theatre for reassembly on the stage.

So the whole process is almost finished and in a couple of weeks we will be pulling the set apart so that the wood and flats can be stored for use in future productions.

But they didn't get to this stage overnight. It is some four or five months since it was first discussed. My partner started thinking about the design of the stage about twelve weeks ago. The rotation between the first and second act, then back again between the second and third was a logistical and engineering issue with health and safety thrown in for good measure. Trevor got involved because he has a background in engineering and computer graphics. There were a number of evenings where he sat at his computer with colleagues from the theatre group so they could discuss the design, each from their own experience, to finally come up with something that could safely be rotated while meeting the requirements for the action that needs to take place.

It has taken a lot of planning and hard work to get to this stage, but no-one had to do it on their own. Information and experience was shared at every stage, and then everyone moved in to do the physical construction work. It was a group effort with each person making a contribution.

When I look at internet projects, that is what I want to find. I'm ready to make my contribution, but I expect there to be other people with different expertise who can give advice and suggestions based on their experiences. I think I've finally found it.

How to Become the Best Networker

I decided to write about this topic because for years now I've received instant messages, emails and even Facebook messages that say, "I want to network with you." After I agree that I'd be happy to network with them, I never hear from the person again. Occasionally what has happened is that after I say, "Sure, let's network," I get a sales message from the person. If I ask them why I received the spam they'll say, "You agreed to network."

Networking with others means helping others, offering others something they want, need and can use. If you sell widgets and I have no interest in widgets, then sending me a sales message for widgets is not something that will help me. I'd like to offer some suggestions on truly networking:

1. Say hello. While this sounds so simple, very few people take the time to even say hello. I find people in such a rush to throw out their sales pitch, they don't even say hello to me.

2. If someone does say hello to you, take the time to respond. I was very impressed with an ad I saw. I wrote the owner of the ad and told her how impressed I was. I never heard back. I'm not one who gives up and I'm also one that knows the internet enjoys snacking on people's emails and so I also sent the same woman a friend request and personal message on Facebook. I never heard back. Not only did this woman lose any possible sale from me, but she also lost any type of referral I might have offered.

3. Take the time to get to know others. How can you help someone if you don't know them? Take the time to get to know others and then offer them things they might use or want. I'll offer two examples. I met a woman on the internet. Her son has autism. Occasionally, I'll come across what look to be great resources for moms of children with autism. I send them to her. I know another woman who tweets about social media. When I find an article or tip I especially like, I'll send it to this woman to consider for her own tweets.

It is my belief that networking is helping others and providing others with what they might want or need. Without saying hello and getting to know them, you won't be able to offer help or resources. These three tips truly can help you become the best networker.
