First, launch your Web browser.

Most search engines provide other tools to help you search more accurately and find Web pages that are more relevant to your interests. These include Boolean operators and advanced search tools.

A good way to determine whether you need to use operators is to phrase your interest in the form of a sentence; and then use the important parts of a sentence as your keywords along with the appropriate operators.

To overcome the problems of duplicate and irrelevant results, many search engines provide a set of advanced search options, sometimes called advanced tools. It is important to remember that each engine's advanced tool set is somewhat different from the tool set of another. But they all have the same goal of helping you refine your search criteria to get the best results.

In some engines, advanced search options include support for phrase-based searching or Boolean operators. In other engines, an advanced search provides you with customized tools.

To sum it all, the best way to learn about a specific search engine's advanced options is to study its Help section and then practice using the tool. After you learn to use an engine's advanced options, you may never want to conduct a search without them.

He learned that a camera with a built-in microphone is not enough to perform the job of quality recording. He then bought a Kodak X18 camera together with an external microphone; and that actually worked great.

When asked whether the prospect of travelling alone makes him kind of nervous, he answered coyly that it makes him a little bit excited. He added that he never feels alone being away from his family and friends while doing his travels because of the existence of social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Through these sites he plans to share his experiences alongside his website. It's that sense of freedom he says that adds to the invigorating flavor of his plan.

A huge problem now exists that which concerns logistics so as to provide the whole funding of the endeavor which he extends to accomplish. According to him, he made some research about what essential things to pack through the internet. He also plans to establish an online business making use of his expertise in the biotech industry to financially support his travels. A good friend also gave him airline tickets which gave him the privilege to travel to different countries from South America to Asia using his friend's mileage points.

Colin Wright Trades a 120 Hour Work Week For a Life of Passion, Travel, and Ultra Mobility

The interview I had done with Colin Wright turned out to be a very fascinating one. For people out there who are as interested as I am in designing their life in a bigger way, travelling all over the world without any restrictions or worrying about leaving a day job behind and wondering how and where to find the income and the means to do so; this interview is a very good way to motivate yourself.

What is interesting about Colin is that he has this great desire to travel and enjoy all those places that his travel takes him to. This is what led him to create Exile Lifestyle and pursue his passion for travelling. You might even find it more interesting that Colin leaves it to other people to decide where he is going. This is because he wanted to be different and innovative at the same time.

Some of you may even think he is crazy but let me tell you how he does this. Colin is actually a designer and entrepreneur by trade so he capitalizes on that and; he writes about what he knows. He writes about sustainability, minimalism, entrepreneurship and everything that catches his interest. That is not even the fun part yet.

While doing all these he gets to run a business and travel and stay into a new country every 4 months, all at the same time! To get his readers more involved in his travels, he lets them decide which country to go to next. Now, how different and innovative is that? I would say it is a unique idea! Not bad for a 25-year old entrepreneur, right?

Before embarking on the ride of his life, Colin was on a 100-120 hour work week attending to his businesses in L.A. He was with his girlfriend at that time who also had to work and take care of her own business as much as he did. A trip to Canada with her gave them time to talk about what they both wanted to do.

His girlfriend said she wanted to move to Seattle and he on the other hand; wanted to move out of the country. They gave each other 4 months to figure out how to achieve their goals and went separate ways as good friends. This was the start of a lot of plane, boat, bus, and taxi rides to a lot of great destinations around the globe.

He was ready to leave L.A. for Argentina where he intended to stay for 4 months and kind of immerse himself with the local culture. This was the first of one of his many ventures that he regularly writes about.

For his second destination, he asked his readers to make suggestions on where to go and he ran this through the course of one month where, the destination with the highest votes wins. After Argentina, he took some time and travelled to South America and stayed there a bit. He then took a quick detour to the States and then flies back down to New Zealand.

He does this alone and Colin admits that there is indeed some degree of anxiety especially on the first couple of weeks in a new country. He sometimes feels lonely the first few weeks. This is because of the language barrier, not knowing his way around and partly because he does not have a clue about the culture. His advice is, you have to get yourself settled down and find a place to stay as soon as possible. Force yourself to talk to people, get your hands dirty and wear your shoes off a little bit.

That basically makes sense since there is no better way to get a feel for the place and understand how people think and understand their culture than to immerse yourself in their lifestyle up close. He has devised a way to move around as easily as possible even on foot. He calls this ultra mobility and all it is about is travelling light. He talks about minimalism and considers himself a true blue minimalist. He has been able to reduce everything that he owns down to only 50 things; clothes and electronic gadgets included.

You know what? That sounds like a lot of fun to me. He avoids using the internet as much as he could, does not make any reservations for hotels or restaurants. He flew into a place and figured things out as soon as he got there. The entire point of this was to get away from those 120 hour work weeks and still make as much money as before and have more time to play. He is indeed living life as an exploratory experience with huge sense of freedom and flexibility.

Colin Wright has done it and so can you. We got the technology to make things easier. Today we all have the means to do something about how we want to live life. Make that your catalyst to start doing what you love to do. Any situation and any circumstances you got can be overcome.

Three Factors to Consider Before You Set Up Your Home Machine Shop

The first and foremost factor to consider when starting your home machine shop is whether or not this will be for business or pleasure. If you just like to tinker and enjoy fixing things yourself, you can get by with much smaller, more versatile machinery than if you are going to accept outside work. There are three basic machine tools that perform the bulk of the jobs that you will encounter, the drill press, the milling machine, and the lathe. The home hobbyist can usually get by with a multi-purpose machine that incorporates all three of these into one versatile machine, but the serious machinist will want to set up shop with individual machines. You may already have a small drill press mounted on your work bench as it is a very useful and necessary machine.

The next item to consider is floor space. You can buy bench top drill presses, bench top mills, and bench top lathes at very reasonable prices, so even the home hobbyist might want to consider this avenue rather than the multi-machine. This allows much greater versatility and will help to eliminate the set-ups and tear-downs that you will likely encounter if you only have the multi-machine. There is nothing more frustrating than having to tear down a milling job just to drill a hole in order to make a special clamp for that same milling job. For the home machine shop, you will need to acquire much larger equipment. You may be able to get away with one of the larger bench top mills when starting out, but I would highly recommend that you buy a large drill press with a #4 Morse taper spindle and as low an RPM as you can find. This will permit you to drill very large diameter holes in most materials, including steel and cast iron. I would also highly recommend that your first lathe be a large, heavy-duty, used model with a 16 inch swing and at least 42 inches between centers. You will reduce your machining time by half as compared to the smaller new machines available on the market. Many of these older lathes are massive in size weight, but that will greatly reduce vibration and give you much better finishes on your work, so dedicate as much floor space to this machine as you can.

The last factor to consider when setting up shop is cost. It pays to shop around and always get as much value for your money as you can, so don't overlook the many benefits of buying good used machinery. eBay is a great source of used equipment, and at the very least a great place to find out what used machines are worth and how much they are currently selling for. I was able to find a very nice #3 Warner and Swasey turret lathe on eBay a few years ago for under $300.00. Large used engine lathes are abundant and very affordable, and you can even find these in your local Penny Saver type magazine if you keep a close watch. Finding one locally can save you lots of money on shipping costs. If you can afford to purchase a new milling machine, this is the smart way to go. The mill is the most used of the machine tools and the majority of used mills tend to be very well worn out. No matter how low the price, a worn out mill is unreliable, produced inaccurate work, leaves very poor surface finishes, and is a very poor investment.

When Overhead Equals Underpaid

At one point in my life, I was impressed by things like fancy office buildings. Then I got educated!

Here are some things to look out for in an MLM company, which also apply to some traditional companies:

Big fancy office building
Big fancy sign
Extensive grounds and landscaping
Expensive decorating
Big staff of customer service representatives
Corporate jet
Payment fees or odd payment methods
Let's tackle the office building first. This is largely a matter of prestige, and not too surprising when you consider the personality type of many corporate leaders. Just as they seem to need expensive jewelry, expensive clothing and shoes, a fancy sports car, and membership at the most exclusive golf country club, they want their office building to scream "we are wealthy."

Whom do you want to impress? If your company does most or all of its business on the Internet, and no customers have a need to visit your office, why would they care about a fancy building? In fact, might they assume a fancy building means a higher price for the product? Employees want a nice and comfortable office, but they probably care more about a decent paycheck. Distributors want good commissions, and may never visit the office in person. The size of the staff will dictate the size of the office space needed (more on that later) but it still doesn't mean you need a fancy building on separate grounds.

The signs and the landscaping go with the building. If you rent space in a building with multiple tenants, the landlord does the landscaping (probably just enough to make it look decent, not outstanding) and you share outside signage or maybe just have a small sign inside to tell people your suite number.

Decorating can be outrageous either way, but the people who want the prestigious building usually want fancy decorating too. Do they have a big fountain or waterfall in the lobby, lots of exotic plants, marble floors, or skylights? The initial cost is high, and there is ongoing maintenance for all of these fancy trappings.

Companies do in fact need some customer service representatives. But how many? Every viable company now has a website. The more customers can order online, submit questions via email or find the answer in a FAQ section, the less people you need answering phones. As much as I despise them sometimes, even VRUs (voice response units, those pesky computers that answer the phone and try their best to keep you away from a live person) have their place in streamlining operations. But some companies have made it TOO hard to reach a real person. So you do need a balance to keep customers happy, but in today's computerized world you should not need very many people answering phones.

Do you need a corporate jet? In one traditional company I worked for, we learned that the president of the company was using the corporate jet to drop in on golf tournaments where his son was competing. In another company, despite having big offices in 2 cities and needing people to go back and forth all of the time, they did a study and decided that using commercial airlines was far cheaper than keeping the corporate jets. They sold the jets.

If you are a distributor for an MLM, does the company assess a fee from every check or deposit? Traditional companies do not, because it isn't necessary! Does your company deposit your commissions to a debit card instead of sending you a check? It might sound cool at first but let me tell you why they do that:

They earn interest on the money you haven't used yet, instead of you earning it
They keep anything left in the account for too long, or after you quit
The first one is obvious. Of course if the company mails a check, they get interest on the money during the mailing time. But once you deposit the check, if you don't need the money right away then you can earn interest on it. It might not be much but why shouldn't you get that money instead of them? The second issue is one that I just realized recently. In some places you can't use a credit or debit card to pay part of the price and pay the rest with another card, or cash or check. Any some businesses have a minimum purchase requirement to use a card. So if you have just a few dollars left on the card, how do you use it? If you transfer the money to your bank account, they assess another fee. So if you have $1.51 on your card and the transfer fee is $1.50, would you do the transfer to get 1 cent? Most people won't! So where does the $1.51 go? Knowing the dropout rate in MLM, think how much money could potentially be left on those cards, and where does it end up? I don't know the answer, except that it does NOT end up with the distributor!

Breaking the Employee-Slave Mentality

You may consider me harsh for making such a statement, but the truth remains: the majority of Americans will remain slaves to the "Rat Race" system for the rest of their lives. I speak with a lot of people on a daily basis who say that they are serious about starting their own Home Based business, but they never actually take action to begin the process. As I meditated on the subject, trying to figure out "what was wrong with people", it dawned on me: We have been trained to think like slaves!

From the time we were school age children, we were taught to go to work for someone else-in hopes of getting paid for our blood and sweat at the end of the week. We had no control over what the employer "decided" to pay us, nor did we have any say as to what type of hours we would work. We were taught to be "dependant" on others. This type of mentality is no different from the mentality of a slave. Slaves were forced to conduct hard labor for little pay (if any), while the "master" made a fortune, took exotic trips, and sent his children to private schools. For those who may think that I'm going overboard with my analogy, consider this: Who tells you when you can spend time with your family? Who tells you when you are "eligible" for time off? Who dictates to you how long you can take a lunch break?

Are you starting to get the picture? Most people don't even realize that they are snared by the way they perceive. If a person doesn't believe or know that they have a problem, they won't consider getting treatment for the problem, thus, remaining in their sickening state until they die. Why not start a home based business for yourself? Why not take control of your own income, rather than let someone else tell you what your worth? Doesn't it make sense that you should be the one who decides how much you will be paid? Shouldn't you decide when your going to spend time with your family? If you desire to change the course of your life, you're going to have to change the way that you think. Entrepreneurs think different compared to employees. Employees complain that "there are no jobs". Entrepreneurs create jobs by starting businesses.

I am aware that there are some people who will never change the way that they think, no matter how many offers I make to them or how many articles I write, they will continue to embrace the "employee" mindset. I don't mean any disrespect to those who decide to work for a living: there's nothing wrong with that. After all, I need someone to carry my bags up to my luxury suite. I need someone to cook my three course meal. I need someone to fly my privately owned jet. I need someone to program my computer. I can go on-and-on but I think you get the picture. Which side of the road are you on? Do you want to determine how much income you are going to make this year? Or, are you satisfied with your safe secure job?
