Make Money - Your Own Business - "Do Not Listen to the Snake Oil"

How gullible do they think people are?
The only way to attain instant riches is to win the lottery - anything else requires hard work and dedication. Constantly firing out huge six figure earning figures as your marketing plan does smack of perhaps inflating the truth. Do these marketers really believe that I will buy the idea of hundreds of thousands of my currency in just 2 weeks?

I have bought these packages, fully knowing that what is being peddled will in no way be as represented. So why did I buy into the instant money scheme -I am not buying into the instant money promise, I am looking for information. "Internet marketing is not easy" and I will defend that statement with my dieing breath. It is possible to make money but it requires a huge amount of research, trial and error and yes investment.

The annoying thing I find with these schemes which claim to give you the blue print, is how much is actually left out. I have an engineering back ground and if I was to use the blue prints of the quality which is flaunted as fool proof and a complete guide by the marketing people on the internet, then please do not enter or walk on a bridge built on them as disaster is the only thing to come from them.

I can already hear the shouts of slander, liable, you are disgruntled, and you do not know how to do it. Yes I do not know how to do it, but I am learning and I like the challenge of learning and seeing it to a positive conclusion. I have a website, I have some products on it that I hope to sell, and these are products that I have bought or had recommended to me. They as yet are not paying for the investment associated with the site, but with time and patience they will, I hope, reach that point. It is all down to reaching a market who wishes to buy these products.

How do you reach your market?
Use the internet. A simple statement I know. So how do you turn this simple statement into traffic? When I figure that one out, I will write another article and tell all. Yes all, I will not leave out the secret little key, the special little thing that triggers a flood of traffic to my site. Be aware that there are many people making money from internet marketing, and they will not tell you fully how they do it for fear of reducing the flow of traffic they get, and then by default their profits. Remember that special offer they proffer, is just for the beginning of the blue print, then there is the extra bit needed for building on it, then you have to buy this other piece of the puzzle, see a pattern here - before you know it to get the FOOL PROOF BLUE PRINT you have spend many hundreds of dollars and even then there is always a bit left out.

I recently read an article from some one whose writings I enjoy reading, and thought I would invest in the product being advertised. Unfortunately it turned out to be just the same as the rest. I was skeptical and trod lightly, but I thought if for no other reason perhaps this will give me information on how to get a boost in the world of internet marketing. What made me wary was the claim of fast cash - make money in two hours - big incomes for little or no return. The second I hear these statements I KNOW it's a losing project.

The way to get traffic is to design your site to be search engine friendly. I found a great product which does this, and by comparing the recommendations from this with what I have read in books by people who I greatly respect after trying and seeing their advice work I have started cleaning my site up and making it rank well. I have not released my site fully onto the internet, but already using keywords from the pages I have - they appear on the first or second pages of Google �. Now that is impressive.

Unfortunately we are constrained by the search engine sites way of doing things, so the other ingredients they require to give a good ranking are links into your site. How do you get these? Well lets see, you can spend hours searching for another site which will agree to link to you or you can write articles, like this lol, this article will not link to my site or a landing page as it is not that type of article. This article is hopefully a warning to those ready to lay out big sums of money on offers of "business in a box", "large returns fast" and any other hook line the marketers dream up.

You can try PPC (pay per click), I did this and it was beginning to work. The trick with PPC is that you have to get the keywords right, then you have to run the ad for a while and collect data on the times you convert so that the dead times (times when no sales come from clicks), can be filtered out. Unfortunately for some reason I got banned from Google �. I did not have a website at the time and my ads sent buyers to the landing pages of the vendor (an idea I got from a marketer, which I paid for). I was honest in the ads I put up, but even after many requests for a straight answer as to why I was being banned, Google would not be specific. I was lucky enough I guess on this venture into internet marketing that I ended up losing less than 200 dollars. Had it continued it would have become profitable.

Another thing which helps to rank your site is age. This I find a little strange, given the main reason people search is relevant content, but it is a search engine requirement, so register your domain and get it hosted fast, even if its not ready. Can't hurt and it ticks that box. Be careful how many times your keywords are used in the content, search engines will rank you down as spam or consider the content not to be overly relevant. Same goes for the description and content meta tags.

I am not moaning, just giving the other side of the story.
Interesting point - I bought a package, paid nearly 300 dollars for it, followed all the instructions to the letter, I even copied, yes copied some of the PPC ads which came as part of the package and got banned on Google �. When I went to find the vendor - they had been suspended from the place I purchased the package from - I do not know why - but it makes me wonder. I have bought websites from internet marketing vendors which are guaranteed to bring me income within 48 hours - the most recent was about a month ago and I am still waiting for the first sale, and I cannot find the site I paid for anywhere on the net?

This all sounds like I am moaning and being down hearted, far from it, my intention here is to say "it is worth a try, just do not waste time and money on the FAST return promises, the big incomes, the work only 2 or 4 hours a day and live in a big house, it is not there, well not in the packages that is"

The reason I do believe it is possible to eventually make an income from internet marketing is the companies who provide us, the affiliates, the products; these companies tend to deal with sales and returns in a very professional manner and they provide a ready source of new products. I have a fantastic experience of some of these and can from first hand experience say they do a Stirling job.

Money Making Landing Pages

There are tons of systems designed for helping network marketers earn money on line.

The question is, what works?

Let's explore what an effective landing page - lead capture page should contain.

You have 2 options.

1. You can construct your own landing pages and tie them in with your sales funnel or directly to your MLM
2. You can participate in a marketing mastermind group that provides you with high converting landing pages and a training platform.

I recommend the marketing system, even if you have knowledge marketing on the web and believe you can write good ad copy. A system will give power to your team and train the rookies.

When creating your own landing pages or evaluating a marketing system and the resources it offers there are six things to look for in the layout according to David Garfinkel.

1. COPY - Three essential elements
a. Compelling Headline With Benefits
b. Bullets Describing Appealing Free Information
c. Good Opt In Copy To Eliminate Fear

2. COLOR - Bright background color may be appealing but is not the right choice for conversions. Dark blue, gray or white work great with most audiences.

3. DESIGN - The look and feel of the lay out is something to consider but by far your ad copy and offer are what will drive your entrepreneurial audience. Now, that's no justification for being sloppy but spend more time on copy then design. Don't sweat the small stuff.

4. OFFER - This is where the rubber meets the road. The bulk of your ad copy is here. The value of your offer must be more compelling than the need to safeguard their email address.
a. What your offer does for your prospect is more important than what it is
b. Build curiosity - build desire
c. Skip details

Tim Erway points out that the central thing to focus on here is making sure the offer is perceived to be more valuable than the privacy of the email.

5. PRIVACY - On top of offering superior value, place your privacy statement close to the opt in box.

6. OPT IN - The opt in submit button should be enticing in nature. Something like "I Want In" or "Free Instant Access"

If you are new to the world of on line marketing or have had a website with hardly any results in driving traffic to it this may seem a little overwhelming. My first reaction was excitement and uncertainty.

I can assure you, your third grader could do this. YOU can do this!

The Pro's and Con's of Starting an at Home eBay Business

There are a million and one ways to make money part time. And in this economy who doesn't need a little extra (or a lot of extra) cash in their pocket! That's why I've decided to start a series of articles where I lay out the pro's and con's of different kinds of part time businesses that you can do with a limited up front investment and in your spare time.

eBay is one of the most visited sites on the internet. People visit eBay every day looking to buy very specific things. So naturally it's a great place to make money. They key with eBay is to sell things that people are going to want enough to bid on and even possibly go through a bidding war with others. You want to find unique, vintage or one of a kind items with a lot of value in them. If you can do that you can make good money on eBay.

Here are a few pro's and con's of starting an at home eBay business...

Pro's

- Sell as many items as you want. You can have lots of auctions going at once which means that you can have the possibility to make a pretty consistent amount of money all through the month.

- Work from home. You can work your eBay business totally from home which is a major plus for a lot of people.

- Little effort. Once you put your items up for auction there is little that you have to do to maintain them. The only really annoying thing is shipping, that can be a bit more time consuming.

- Possibility of making a lot of money on one sale. If you're selling something that people are willing to pay a lot of money for you can make a lot of money on just one or two sales. If you're selling lower priced items you can still make good money you're just going to have to have a lot more auctions going at once.

Con's

- Shipping. Shipping is a hassle and it costs money. It's annoying going to the psot office all the time and making sure everything gets shipped on time and packed correctly.

- Finding the right items. The biggest key to making money on eBay is finding and selling items that people are really going to want to buy and spend a lot of money on. You can't just throw anything up there and expect to make money from it. If you have the right items in your auctions you're going to make a good amount of money and if you don't you're going to be disappointed.

The hard part is that there are so many different components that go into making a niche "right". Today we're going to discuss how to narrow down your niche and some indicators that your niche is specific enough.

The goal is to define a niche specific enough that it's unique and allows you to create highly customized products and services, therefore outperforming the competition without cutting out so much of the market that it can't possibly support your business. You probably already have a niche selected for a your home business online opportunity or perhaps a few ideas, and you may be wondering how can you tell if any of these options are up to par? Here are some easy techniques to help you determine if you have selected a small enough niche.

Is your niche specific enough?
Are there several large competitors pursuing exactly the same niche market as you are, with the same angle?
Do you find that you frequently need to "tone down" your marketing and products so that they will be acceptable to the ENTIRE niche market?

If you enter a long-tail keyword (keyword phrase) into your favorite internet search engine with "parenthesis" are the results a long list of your direct competitors? (Note be careful here sometimes companies related to your business can appear to be direct competition, but when you take a closer look you realize that they're not.)

If you enter a very specific long-tail keyword (phrase) into the Google keyword tool do you find that the local search volume is over 100,000? (Just search Google keyword tool to find it.)

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions you should probably consider refining your niche.

To help you here is an example of the niche market from my last online coaching business, "independent financial advisors, earning between 100k - 300k gross per year that are interested in specializing in helping retirees minimize the taxes on their IRA distributions."

It may take some time for you to identify your target client this well, but if you focus on identifying the traits of your best clients you will begin to see patterns. It has always helped me, to design my "target market" around my ideal clients and create my products and marketing as if I were only writing to them. Of course, there are always people outside of that scope who become clients, but the point is you do not need to actively pursue them.
If you already have some clients an easy way to refine your niche market is to find out more about your existing clients. Conducting a survey or sending a questionnaire is a great place to start.

To build a highly profitable passwords website you must first select a niche that is specific enough that you are able to enter the market and quickly become the recognized authority, but still big enough that it can support your business.

To help you with the process write down everything you can about your ideal client (it can be one you already have, or if you are just getting started one you would like to have). Make sure to include any personal things that may seem irrelevant.

- What sports to they play/watch?
- How do they vote?
- What values/principles do they value?
- Are they married? Are their children at home?
- Where do they shop?
- Do they travel frequently?
- What do they earn?
- What are their highest priorities?
- What are their biggest challenges and fears?

Knowing this information allows you to communicate with your clients and prospects on a personal level. This is only possible because your niche is specific enough that most of the people within it have many of the same qualities. By narrowing your niche to a very specific group you empower yourself to become the super marketer, able to carry a conversation like you have known each other for ages, and all you had to do was get really clear about who you are working with.

Business Continuity Program - The 1st Step Towards Success

If you want to ensure that your business continuity program will be successful you need to make sure you get started off in the right direction. That means having the right niche. There is lots of talk about choosing a niche, but the same old questions remain:

- How do you know if your niche is specific enough?
- Is it a hot hungry market, motivated to change?
- Are the people in your niche interested in the benefits you provide?
- Is your niche too small?

I will address those questions today.

First of all how do you know if your niche is specific enough?
There are a few helpful questions you can ask yourself:
Are there competitors that are focusing on the exact same niche as I am? If so, how many and how large are they? If you can name several large competitors focusing on exactly the same niche as you are then you probably haven't narrowed down your topic enough.

Here is an example of the niche I built my last membership website around, "independent financial advisors, earning between 100k - 300k gross per year that are interested in specializing in helping retirees minimize the taxes on their IRA distributions." Your niche should be just as specific.

Is it a hot, hungry market motivated to change?
To answer this question you may need to do a little research. Take a look at the buying habits of your niche. Are they spending money on products to solve their problems already? Is the broader market that the niche is part of thriving? Join newsgroups and chat rooms where your potential clients congregate and see what they are saying.

Are the people in your niche interested in the benefits you provide?
Again the social networks; newsgroups, chat rooms and twitter can be good indicators. If things look positive then conduct a little marketing and attempt to build a seed list of interested prospects. If you can't get anyone to subscribe to an Ezine for free information or respond to ppc or a trade magazine advertisement then you may need to take a slightly different approach or choose a new niche entirely. Once you are able to build a seed list you can communicate with your new prospects and find out what it is that they are looking for.

How can I tell if my niche is too small?
There are a few easy indicators. Of course if you are unable to build a seed list of interested prospects that may be one indicator that your niche is too specific, but that could also be your marketing method or approach. Other indicators are to search several different keywords using Google's keyword tool (to find the link just Google "Google keyword tool") and see what the results are. Another option is to just type key phrases into multiple search engines and see what, if any competition pops up. A little competition in the same niche and/or closely related is a good sign as it means that there is likely money to be made in that market.

What's next?
Now you can apply these techniques to your niche to see if you are on the right track. If you are congratulations. If not, don't panic, many successful businesses have started of making changes before finally settling down. Just don't make the mistake of attempting to convert the people in a niche to your way of thinking in order to sell your services to them. It's far easier to find a market that wants help and learn how to serve them.

My experience creating profitable members only websites has shown that there are several powerful success strategies that you can employ to turn your membership website into a massive automated coaching income.

Get picky when it comes to your niche.
Specify who you are looking for in as much detail as possible. For example in my last members only website the niche was, "Independent financial advisors, earning between 100k - 300k gross per year that are interested in specializing in helping retirees minimize the taxes on their IRA distributions." Your niche should be that specific too.

Focus on your prospects first.
Begin by building a small lead list so you can determine if there is enough interest in this particular topic and/or if you are focusing on the right problems/benefits. As you come in contact with interested prospects talk to them about what they are looking for and apply what you learn.

Behave like a marketing machine.
Creativity is an asset but don't be fooled into thinking you can behave like an artist. You must be an organized systematic marketing machine. Consistently recording all of your results and making small modifications to your best marketing pieces and testing the impact of those changes so you can continue to improve.

Invest in online interactive tools.
Interactive tools get your subscribers involved and some even keep them coming back to your website regularly. Constantly look for new ways to add value to your membership website with interactive tools.

Consistently search for the perfect joint venture partner.
Finding the right joint venture is a little like dating. If you just sit back and wait for the perfect partner you could be waiting a long time.
