Tips for Setting Short Term Goals and Objectives in Your Work at Home Business

The easiest way to establish what your short term goals will be is to make a 1 year (long term) goal that can be broken down into each month of that year. Now that you know what needs to be completed in that month, break that down into weekly tasks and then into daily tasks. Let's look at an example of how this will work in the business model I use.

Your 1 year (long term) goal is to earn a minimum of $150,000.00. With that established you know that you must average $12,500.00 per month or around $2,885.00 per week. You have now defined what you want to earn, now you have to figure out the number of leads and products that you will have to sell in order to meet this. Statistics have shown that 3 out of every 10 leads in your system will purchase from you, netting you (in my model example) at the very least $450.00. This is far from your weekly goal that you had established, but there is a twist and this is why it is important to have plenty of quality leads in your system. Statistics have shown that the 2 of the 3 that originally purchased from you will upgrade to a higher product or service that is offered. Now the next product upgrade available nets you a profit of $1,000.00 per sale. Now your weekly total is up to $2,450.00, still shy of the goal that we established. But wait, it still gets better. Again statistics have shown that 1 of the 2 that upgraded from the original purchase will upgrade again. Your next highest product or service earns you a $5,000.00 profit which brings your weekly total to $7,450.00 which far exceeds our weekly income goal. These figures are not far fetched and are very obtainable but they are based on the best scenario. For this example, our business model still has others products or services that can be upgraded to with even higher profits. So, for this example, just by having 3 out of our 10 leads purchase from us per week has the annual potential of $387,400.00. Wow!

This example does and will not work for everyone's particular business model or system. What I am trying to point out is the importance of establishing your long term goal in order to set your short term goals and objectives. Once you have determined exactly what you want and desire in your long term goal, break it down into smaller ones.

Understanding that this process must happen is vital. Everyone has big dreams and goals, but realistically, these goals cannot and will not be achieved overnight. The First Step To Success In Your Online Business, Even If You Are A Late Bloomer Baby Boomer

Not too long ago, I visited a delightful older woman who works magic with flowers. "Lovely flower garden," I told her, "but what about that one over there? Nice foliage, but no blossoms."

"Oh, that one is a late bloomer. Doesn't do much over the summer, but puts on quite a show come fall."

At that moment, it occurred to me that she had described me. Having spent nearly all my life planning wonderful projects instead of doing them, I had recently succeeded in realizing a dream that had been on my priority list for years. But it hadn't been so long ago that after having raised my family I was looking forward to my husband's retirement in a few years. Then when the economy tanked, our personal financial world was rocked. Until then, we proverbial "Baby Boomers" thought we had it made. The interesting thing is that our financial crisis served to motivate me to actually pull it all together and do something I'd only dreamed about until then, which was to learn marketing and build my own business that I could conduct at home. So I took that first step. I wrote from the heart, expressing all the emotion that propelled me in the first place. While allowing my growing passion free reign, at the same time, I tempered that passion with realistic expectation; then I pared it down, refined it and finally established my "Why." In one moderately short paragraph I spelled out precisely what my driving force was and I expressed it clearly, fully and honestly. Once I got over the first major hurdle by determining why I wanted to be successful, I moved easily through the next step, and the next, and the next. Indeed, like me, you will find that once you trigger your innate motivation it is similar to "follow-the-leader" in which you simply do what your leader does! So, find a successful leader and the rest will be easy as long as you remain focused.

Maintaining focus is crucial, so do not allow yourself to get sidetracked by asking yourself "Why did I wait so long?" Instead, simply move forward, recognize that some of us seem destined to shine later than others and enjoy the fruits of your labors. And one more thing: Don't be intimidated by the young people who have created the latest genius methods for Online Marketing success because they know what they are doing. And very soon, you will too! It's not necessary to experience a crisis (like I did) in order to spur you on, but you do need the desire. It is that desire that you will formulate into your "Why," which is the key to getting even us late bloomers started.

Remember, even those of us in the "Baby Boomer" category are still teachable and will discover how gratifying and rewarding it is to learn something new while relishing the joy of success in the dynamic and exciting field of Internet Marketing. All we need to do is take that first step!

Home Business Tips - How Long Until I See Results?

I have to be honest. Whenever somebody asks me this question, and it happens often, I am stuck somewhere between a smile and a sigh. A smile because it's asked so often and a sigh because the answer isn't what people want to hear. The truth is, there is absolutely no way to tell. And anybody who tries to guess is a fool at best and giving dangerous advice at worst.

Okay, but why is this question impossible to answer? That's where, hopefully, I'll be able to give you some answers that WILL be of use to you and WILL actually help you with your home business.

At the top of the list is your own ability to run a home business. Contrary to that saying (and I have no idea where it actually comes from) not all men are created equal. Some are smarter than others, some work harder than others, and, like it or not, some have more money to invest in their business than others. All of these factors are going to contribute to how quickly you'll see results.

Then we have the issue of the actual market you're tackling itself. Some markets are wide open and others are highly competitive. Some have a great demand and others have very little demand. Some have very little free info available and some have a ton of free info available. All of these factors are going to contribute to how quickly you'll see results, if at all. In a very competitive market, where you're going up against sites with seven figure a year advertising budgets, you'll be lucky to see a dime come in let alone a significant income.

And finally, there is something called being in the right place at the right time. Some markets will be viable one day and then, because of new technology or something else, are dead the next day. Think of all the products and services that have come and gone over the years. That's why you always have your best chance if you target a market that is evergreen. The downside to doing that is that there will probably be a lot of competition in that market.

So the answer to this question, "how long until I see results?" is simple. There is just no way of knowing given all the variables involved. Having said that, if you're not seeing at least some income come in within six months, you're probably not going to. That has been my experience.

And even that isn't written in stone.
