Work at Home Moms Sometimes Need a Dose of Confidence

Moms who work from home sometimes need to give themselves a boost because, frankly, there's no one out there who's going give you an award for Superwoman of the Year (even if you deserve it).

Work at home moms are the underclass of the working world, then unsung heroes, and a bit of an enigma to those women who are at home, but not working. It's an in-between breed of women that has the best - and the worst of both worlds.

If you're are a work at home mom, you should stand in front of the mirror at least once a day, look yourself straight in the eye, and tell yourself how amazing you are. You're staying at home because you want to be there for your kids, and you're managing to bring in some needed money into your family coffer. Maybe you're even the sole bread-winner.

If you are a work at home mom you are:

---Amazingly organized. How many people do you know who could breast feed and write e-mails at the same time? It's an amazing feat that should be recognized on a professional level. You manage to work, take care of your kids, husband, and home and you're good at it all (or at least adequate).

---Probably in your pajamas longer than you should be. You stumble out of bed, your kids are still asleep, and you know this is the best time to get some work done. So, still wearing your PJs, you head to the computer and start working. Kids wake up. Take care of them. Nap time. Go back to work. By the time you have a moment to yourself, you look down at 4 p.m. and see your fuzzy pink slippers poking out of your flannels.

---Not taking enough "me" time. Me time. What's that? For a work at home mom, it may mean a two-minute shower or a bathroom break. Don't worry. Once your kids are a bit older, you may be even to sneak in a five-minute shower.

---Asked to do things for other people. Many people believe that just because you work at home, you have all kinds of free time, that some work-fairy is coming into your house and working, taking care of the kids, and cooking dinner. You have to put your fuzzy-slippered foot down and say no, you cannot do errands for other people just because they have "real" jobs.

If you are a work at home mom, recognize that you are an amazing mom, woman, and worker. That's your mantra, so make certain you tell yourself that each day. Be One of Us!

"Honey, can you give me 2 hours to work and we will play again, okay?" This maybe what a Virtual Assistant Mom tells her 4 year old daughter...Cool huh! Are you still wondering if virtual work environment is for you? Let me give you a glimpse of what a Virtual Assistant's day is like - and be the one to judge. This is a schedule of a VA-friend who happens to be a mother also.

7am - She will have breakfast with daughter and husband. Fixed her daughter and sends her to school.

10am - After the coast is clear (lol), husband is at work, daughter is at school, she will start working for 4 hours as a SEO Specialist. She may take a break to have her lunch or have it after her shift.

2pm - Daughter will arrive and attends to her. Play and even takes a nap with her.

4pm - This is what she calls, 'daughter time'. An uninterrupted 3 hours of play, stories, tv, swimming or whatever they would want to do.

7pm - Dinner with the whole family. Dad arrives from work, chat about the day for all of them.

8pm - Tucks daughter to sleep, kiss dad goodnight.

9pm - Work for another hour for a Data Mining project.

You can see in her schedule that she has about 6 hours work as a VA and yet it does not interfere with her "Mommy Duties".

A Stay at Home Mom's Guide - How to Bring in Real Cash From Home

In today's times where the cost of quality child care has sky rocketed and the job market has plummeted, more and more moms are choosing to leave the rat race in order to stay at home and care for their children. After all, what's the point of getting up at 6am and commuting five days a week to a job that only pays $400 a week and hand over $300 of that to a day care? It doesn't take a math genius and a blackboard filled with equations to figure that one out. The one thing that most moms just can't seem to figure out, is how they can bring in a little money each month in the scarce amount of free time that they have. For a lot of families, even a little bit of money can make a huge difference.

Unfortunately the search for legitimate work from home opportunities often leads down a path of scams and multi-level-marketing sales pitches; which only serve to discourage moms and further waste their precious time. I'm here to tell you that if you look in the right places and listen to the right people, there are indeed legitimate opportunities out there. As an experienced stay-at-home mom of three children, I have spent years and countless amounts of time and energy finding the opportunities that I'm about to reveal to you.

Most women already are aware of companies like Avon, Tupperware, Party Lite, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, etc., however, most women are turned off at the mention of their names because they think they have to beg their friends and family to buy the products to earn any money. In the past, that would have been true. Many of these companies offer a fairly low start up investment and also include a free website to base your sales out of. With a little knowledge about promoting that website, you very well may never need to hold a product party or sell not one thing to a member of your family. If you decide to try this route, I suggest frequenting online mom forums or online communities. You can advertise your website simply by creating a signature line with your website's address on your profile. Each time you post in a forum, you're getting FREE advertising for your online storefront! If you are a bit more aggressive, you can try listing your products on online free classified sites such as craigslist and fijiji. Even if the thought of face to face sales turns you stomach, these companies offer a great opportunity for bringing in extra money every month without knocking on your neighbors' doors.

If you are familiar with the basics of eBay or even craigslist, there are quite a few opportunities to make extra money from home here too. If you frequent either of these sites, you'll soon learn that there is a very high demand for baby items, baby and children's clothes, and certain toys from makers like Little Tykes. I made quite a decent income simply from visiting thrift and resale shops in my area and finding baby and children's clothes that were still new with the tags on for $3 or less. The same could be done at yard sales too or better yet, on seasonal clearance racks at stores like Gymboree, Children's Place, Gap, etc. You can quickly gauge which brands of baby and children's clothing are selling on eBay by doing a search and seeing what percentage of each brand have bids and by taking a look at the winning bid amounts. Be sure to do your homework BEFORE you go shopping though. You need to know what is selling and what isn't and for how much, otherwise you could just be wasting your precious time.

Another great way to earn money from home is to list your talents on a site like elance.com. Elance.com is a website for people who wish to do freelance work from home. This website is an absolute GOLDMINE of legitimate work from home opportunities for anyone who is willing to work. Of course, the more you have to offer, the more you will be in demand. You can offer services as a virtual assistant, customer service rep, data entry, answering telephones, event planning, web design, programming, typing, etc. The list is way too large to list here. All you need to do is visit elance and create a profile, you can list your skills, job history, references, and you can even take skills tests to verify certain skill sets. You can then bid on jobs that have been listed by people and companies needing help.

Even if you feel like you don't have very much time at all to make extra cash, there are more opportunities than you can imagine. One of my favorites is to list yourself on the databases of market research companies. A quick online search of market research companies in your area will give you a list of the companies and their websites. You can simply visit these websites and find where or how you can get listed in their database. Once you do, you'll likely receive phone calls or emails of market research opportunities for which you qualify. These opportunities are usually quick, fun things that require a bare minimum of your time and a quick opportunity for a nice amount of cash. I once picked up a free six pack of diet soda and took it home. Once I drank them, I completed an online 20 second survey that made me $25.00. Another time I did a diaper study and earned $120.00. It was easy money and I was smiling all the way home. The more databases that you can put yourself into, the more opportunities you'll have for quick cash.

I always recommend to any stay-at-home mom, that they frequent online mom websites and communities as often as possible. Not only are you able to stay connected to the "real world", but these sites offer an array of hidden opportunities to not only save money but to make it as well, IF you know where to look. For example, just by visiting forums on these mom sites you'll soon learn what the needs are in your area and you can then begin to offer services to fill those needs. Often times one of the biggest needs is child care. If you're willing to care for another child every day, or even infrequently this is ALWAYS an opportunity for money. If this type of thing interests you, you can always list yourself as a caregiver on websites such as Care.com. This is a website that connects caregivers to people needing care for seniors, babies, children, and pets. You can create a profile for free or pay a little bit of money to get a background check listed for yourself, again making yourself more "in demand" and appealing to those looking for help.

By no means are these the only ways of bringing in extra cash. These are simply a few that I have found to be the most appealing. You can choose to do only one of these, or some combination of any or all of them. I hope these ideas have given you new-found hope or even inspired you to find your own way of making money from home. You can indeed have the best of both worlds, being available for your children as well as contributing to your household income.

How to Balance Being a Stay-At-Home Mom and Working From Home

Only a stay-at-home-mom of a baby or toddler can really understand the real predicament behind finding a job suited specifically for moms. How can you contribute financially to the family coffers and not send your child (or children) to the daycare, giving them the attention that they deserve? With one child you could perhaps get away with 50% of your salary after daycare expenses, but with two...three? Even persons with no such obligations such as children, are complaining about a tough job market, and people seem to be working for less and less. Taking all such things into consideration, even getting a little work done at home and making a fraction of the salary you might have made at a full-time job starts to tip the scales of this equation.

There are a few pointers to take into consideration, however, to avoid some very common pitfalls typical to all entrepreneurs. Start by being realistic, only you know your children's schedules and details like when they nap, how long they nap, what time they go to bed and how long after that you are willing to stay up to work. From here you can efficiently manage your day, right? Well, the truth is only if these schedules are reasonably fixed. Therefore, for your own success and sanity, it would be wise to try to implement a reasonably strict routine - and besides, you will quickly find that all young children flourish with routine. Also, if there are household tasks you prefer to do while your child is napping, remember to factor those in too.

Then once you have established the time you have available for each of your obligations, dedicate yourself fully to each task at hand. When you are busy with your job, do whatever it takes to focus fully on working efficiently and getting as much work done as possible, and equally when you are spending time with your child don't count on squeezing in bits of work here and there, trying to complete tasks that you should rather spread more realistically. You will quickly realize the trying to work while your child is awake is not only frustrating, but you will constantly be distracted and you will just feel guilty for getting frustrated with your child all the time.

Once again, be realistic about the goals you set, biting off more than you can chew is a guaranteed way to make you want to give up prematurely. Unrealistic goals is likely the main reasons why jobs for stay-at-home-moms is often considered a myth and methods claiming it is possible, considered spam. Remember, most any businesses require some investment, whether in time or money, to be successful and take time to establish. So to get on the right path to success, in a nutshell, start by determining a realistic amount of time you can spend on it and don't expect to be making millions overnight.

There are many [http://www.best-jobs-for-moms.com]home based businesses worth taking into consideration. For some helpful advice on the best options suited to your needs and more guidance on finding success, visit [http://www.best-jobs-for-moms.com]http://www.best-jobs-for-moms.com.

Hobby For Stay at Home Mom

When you are a stay at home mum, it can be very difficult to make ends meet. Many stay at home mum's make money using their computers on the Internet. However if you are just starting out and want to find a way to make money online, make sure that you follow a strategy that works. There are many scams online especially for work at home mums.

One way that I know about and which worked for me was a web site called Squidoo. This is a free web site where you can write about your interests in life. You can apply to become an affiliate with Amazon.com, eBay.com and other affiliate programs. These web sites then pay you the commission each time someone buys something after reading your squidoo site and following your link.

Squidoo also pays money each month to people who have Squidoo sites high in their ranking. The best way to get started is to go to Squidoo.com and read all their information.

The next thing to do is to go to and look at other people's Squidoo sites to get an idea of how to get started. It might take some time to earn a good amount of money each month, however if you persevere you will do it.

I made over 100 Squidoo sites and at one stage was making more than $700 per month from Squidoo. Although I haven't been working on my Squidoo sites for many months I still have an income from them each month. This is one way that I know that is genuine and does pay and can get you started in Internet marketing.

For many mothers who are at home with children, this is a great way to make extra pocket money each month

Mom Works From Home

As a mother who has been home raising my son for three years now, I am finding it difficult take into consideration going back into the rat race. My son will start school during the Fall and that was to be my cue to return to work.

As everyone knows, the economic state that the world is currently in at this time, ensures that moms and dads should be in the workplace to make ends meet. The prices of everything we purchase goes up yearly, as do the taxes we pay. It is difficult raising a family in the current times.

It used to be that the dad would go to work each day in his 9-5 job, and mom stayed at home. Mom's job was to be at home with the kids, cook, clean, laundry, homework, etc... In current times, mom is expected to perform all of the above, plus head to a 9-5 job. That is a large change in only 50 years or so!

In my opinion, children are different now, because mom and dad are not around as often as they used to be. Almost everyone wants more time and money to be able to do the things they wanted to. Most times mom and dad are stressed over work/money issues and the children do not get the attention they need.

Personally, I did not want this for my son. He is my one and only. I need to be able to be there for him as my parents were there for me. My mom worked evenings and weekends in order to be home with my sister and I throughout the day. My dad worked during the day and infrequently on weekends. We never went to a babysitter, unless you count grandparents.

I decided I desired to be a mom who worked from home.

I did my research, and tried a small number of things. The majority of them had me cold calling people, or pressuring people into buying, or even considering the products. People will not speak to me anymore because I have bothered them so much. Not that I mind, because some of the folks are better off at an arm distance away, but that is not the point. The point was that I alienated myself from these folks simply because I was trying to earn commissions on the products, to ensure that I was not losing money anymore. This was unfair of me to do to the people around me.

I started getting desperate. I discovered Mike Dillard's materials and I read them hungrily, as I wanted to learn how to market myself. I noticed one big theme was that I needed to have the ability to market myself, in order to bring people to me. That is when I found a business I could work from home.

The business allows me the privilege to enjoy time with my son, while at the same time earning an income. I might take him into the park through the day while all of the other parents are at work. I meet all caregivers in the park, but I am the only parent there playing with my child. Let me tell you, it is a wonderful feeling for me. I will not be going back to work in the rat race, and I'm very happy about that.

Being a Stay At Home Mom and an Entrepreneur - Is it Time to Consider a Babysitter Or Daycare?

The choice to work from home is mostly a second calling, which comes after being a stay home mom for a while. The choice to be a stay home mom is a noble one, sacrificing earnings for the more vital things in life: being there for your youngsters. Nothing in the world could ever replace being there for your child's first step, first word and so on. Yet the economy is awfully unfair to single earning homes or worst yet a single parent.

A mom will desire to provide for her children and will explore the options of working. Mom not wanting to leave the house and not wanting the children to be watched by strangers leads to only one option. That option is to work at home. Not just working at home for someone else, but working at home as an entrepreneur. Luckily, the web has opened up many doors for this opportunity, particularly the chance to achieve success using your home computer.

Previously a home based business might be selling Avon or something similar. This hardly holds a candle to owning your own home-based business of your own. Being successful as a work from home mom is a thing to be happy with, but it may also be maddening and stressful. Mixing work with being a stay at home mom sounded like the ideal life and perfect scenario, till the work begins. That work now demands more of your time and sooner or later you are entrepreneur who has to "bring her kids to work".

As your work load increases, you may come to the dilemma of do you now go out and hire a babysitter or drop off the kids at daycare. Now you ask yourself, isn't that what I was trying to avoid in the first place. Well that decision comes down to how well you are at multitasking. It is one thing to balance cleaning, cooking, and childcare. Yet being a prosperous entrepreneur often takes preference over the cleaning and cooking, but you cannot put off your child's needs. After their first years, kids are capable of keeping themselves entertained for a short time. It is vital to keep youngsters confined into a safe play area, yet to also be in a position to keep an eye fixed on them while you are working. It is one thing to target work, but it is another thing to deprive your youngsters of the needed attention.

There may come a time when you don't make that much and you need more time to work. Now you need to ask yourself: What's more important? Well the time you need to allocate depends on your child's age. This is a vital factor to take into consideration. Young children, on one hand, are way more demanding. A baby, when awake, can only entertain themselves for short amounts of time. Toddlers can entertain themselves much longer, but even if they do not ask for it they do need more interaction. Older kids are way more independent, and if a kid is in class, this is your time to work. If you're working longer hours than your children is at the baby-sitter or daycare. You should be considering revising your list, for your kids and for yourself.

If you're sticking your child in front of cartoons for hours, it's a sure sign that you need to hire a child-sitter or daycare. But how do you feel about that decision, isn't the reason you decided to work form home in the first place is to avoid that scenario. You selected to work from home because it was actually the best of two worlds: being able to remain at home while running a business. A stay at home mom and entrepreneur could be stunned by how successful she has become, and what started as a "hobby on the side" has all of a sudden changed into a career. If you decide that hiring a child-sitter or daycare is a smart decision, investigate your options. These options will also mean that you're still there for your kids, and your kids know you are there, and not wonder why you are not around.

Sending your youngsters to a daycare or to someone else's home is a tough decision, but it'll help you work obviously and without distraction. Your kids will be having a great time, playing actively and learning social abilities in a new setting. Select the best situation that works best for your financial position, your comfort level, and your expectancies.

Selecting the right daycare or babysitter to achieve your dream of being an entrepreneur takes careful consideration. You must consider the money spent, the level of trust and the balance of work and being a mom.
