Take Action, Overcome Procrastination

Leaders take action and initiative, they do not wait for everything to be perfect. Procrastination is sneaky. Do you waste time getting ready to get ready by organizing your desk and office? Do you allow household chores to distract you from implementing your To Do list? If your day changes are you powerless to adjust your To Do list?

Sometimes home business owners use unconscious excuses to avoid tackling tasks that take energy such as helping a newbie team member because it is not necessarily revenue producing. The entrepreneur may hesitate doing that which they don't enjoy, such as performing key word searches for their next promotional action. Doing nothing produces a WHOLE lot of nothing. Resisting solving a messy problem means the problem will persist. Or, hesitating over stepping into a new area of training they do not understand.

All of these obstacles are easily overcome by 1) noticing they are occurring, 2) just breath and take one step of action which will lead to the next and the next and suddenly the obstacle is removed, 3) avoid feeling guilty that you have allowed obstacles to delay your results, keep your momentum moving forward and reap the benefits. If you expect something different you need to DO something different.

Finally, at the end of each day create your To Do list for the next day. Make a commitment to yourself to complete three revenue producing activities every day for 90 days. Stick to this schedule. If you miss an activity then do four the next day. After 90 days reflect back on the activities that were "cash cows" versus "dogs" and eliminate the "dogs".

Just take steps forward. Don't guilt trip yourself about having been blocked. Just move forward. Don't be concerned about lost opportunities. Focus your energies on what works.

The Shift Newbie to Next Grade

For one to be successful on the internet it is as we have found out actual a lot of hard work. We have things we need to do all the time to stay on top of our business. Whether it's writing articles, blogs, or advertising or promoting our business. Our time spent working at each or all of these daily to get our business out into the mainstream.

I think if you have managed to stick it out for at least three months, have done your research, and have built up a small presence on the internet, then you can loose your newbie status. It is actually up to you to say to yourself, hey I've passed the first test, grade or whatever you wish to call it. I am not an expert, but I am no longer a newbie.

Although to make that decision is really up to you, for what one person views as their own growth, may not necessarily, be your standard of growth. It may only come when you have made your first 100 or 200 or whatever sales, or an amount of $$$ in your bank account that you feel you are able to say, Hey I've graduated from Newbie to Next Grade.

You can't stop the work though with this new found graduation, although you feel you have climbed to the top of the mountain, you need to look at the next one in front of the hill you are on. Look once again at that goal list, adjust it if it needs adjusting. Maybe some of the things in your original list, have changed, especially if you had dated goals. It may have taken you less or more time to get here. Make the changes, then look at your new goals, you want to move forward, to the next step in your business.

You may be ready to branch into other avenues, to grow your business, to reach the next level or grade you have set yourself. Up the game, if you are making some $$$ remember not to go out and spend it all on a celebration, some of it needs to be fed back into tor business. Maybe buy that software that will help automate your business better, or get that training package, which will help you move on. Or pay the people you are outsourced, hosting etc. what is helping you grow your business is better than blowing it all on a celebration.

Once you have established yourself, and you are seeing regular $$$ coming in from your efforts, save a portion of this for the celebration, then make it really worthwhile, take the family away somewhere for a weekend or do something really special, which will be far more enjoyable than a quick celebration. Especially if this is one of the reasons you started your home business in the first place. Afterward's you will come back with renewed energy to put into growing yourself and your business, so that you can do that more often.

Another very important factor which you need to acquaint yourself with is about Taxes, wherever you are in the world if you are making money the Tax Man will want his share. Find out now so as to save you and your family a lot of heartache later on. Every country is different, but in most I think you can claim something back especially if they pertain to your business. Working From Home Full Time

Have a system:

It's always good to have a system in place which brings in a consistent income. Initially when I started working full time from home, things went well in the beginning but soon I hit a cold streak and things went downhill really fast. I had no money saved for my general business expenses like web hosting and when my hosting went down, soon I had no websites up making income as well as I had no place to put websites for my clients. Soon I maxed out my credit cards and it took a long time to dig myself out of that financial hole. This leads to my next point.

Calculate how much money you will need for 6 months:

Meaning if you made $0, could you afford to live off your savings for 6 months? There are always unexpected expenses that come up at seemingly the worst times so make sure you have a ton of money saved up. Think of gas, food, business expensives, rent, mortgage, phone bill. Do you have a family to feed? This may seem like common sense but once you sit down and compile an actual list, the amount of expenses you actually have will surprise you.

Have a back up plan:

Many internet marketing free lancers will jump from one money making method to another. Many of these methods work well for awhile but then crash when the market gets over saturated. If you happen to be doing something similiar, make sure you at least have some assets to sell off. For myself when my income slowed down, I started doing logos for companies as well. It certainly wasn't a substantial income but it was enough to pay my bills and feed myself until I got something else up and running.

Always be frugal, even when things are giong well:

Just like many Americans, I got into the habit of "The more money I make, the more I can spend". I noticed that when things were going well, I started buying more and more things which normally were out of the budget. I started saving less and when the next cold streak hit, I was really screwed. You might be having your best month ever but remember that things can fall flat the next month. Once I had a month were I grossed over 5 figures while the next month was only about of third of that. Some of the products I was selling tanked because the publisher decided to change some of the "program terms". Remember you're always at the mercy of the publisher if you do affiliate marketing so keep that in mind. The bottom line is these companies can screw you over with no warning and there's nothing you can do about it. Last year I was running a very successful campaign with eBay, they flipped their whole program terms around and my earnings went from a couple thousand a month to about $150. I was upset but couldn't do a thing about it.

To this day, I'm still blessed to be able to travel and work from my laptop but it's not all fun in the sun every day. As a freelancer, the only person that has your back is yourself and there are many dangers which you should keep in mind.

Getting Your Online Business Going

I have spent literally hundreds of dollars buying many products that promise to make me a millionaire overnight. Yes it is true that people are making hundreds of thousands of dollars per month through their websites be it direst selling or affiliate. BUT nor everyone!

Most people stumble their way through buying this product, then the next one, then the next one but still no progress.

Why?

The plain fact of the matter is that to be successful you need a vision, a plan and dedication and then and only then if you have a good product well marketed will you be successful.

This takes time!

I have four basic rules that I apply to anything I do:->

1) I get inspired. Not just a vague idea of what I want to achieve but a real vision with lots of detail about the outcome. How I will feel, what I see and hear around me to the point that I convince myself that it has already happened. If you have seen the secret you will know what I mean, if you have not then get a copy and watch it, what I am saying will then make sense. Remember to put a date when this will be a reality. i.e. It is the 22 june 2012 and I am feeling.....

2) Take action. DO something, if you take no action you will definitely not achieve anything more than you currently have. As I said, once you have the vision, create a plan of the key things you have to do to achieve your vision. I do not mean a blow by blow detailed plan, just the key steps. The way to do this is to divide the time between now and when you will have manifested your dreams by 2. At that point what will you have already completed (write it down), then again divide the time between now and the midpoint by 2 and decide what you will have done by that point which supports achieving the mid point. Repeat this process over and over until you have a 1 week step defined. THEN DO IT --- TAKE ACTION, do those things you have written down. You are now on your way, the rest will take care of itself.

3) Enjoy the results. The first thing to enjoy is your vision, then you enjoy having a plan, then you enjoy the success of achieving the first week then the next and so on. Review your progress on a weekly basis and only adjust the details for the next weeks actions. It is amazing how quickly the time flies past and before you know it you have achieved your vision. After all you are living in the moment with purpose.

4) Seek an expert, a coach or a mentor to help you. Remember when you learnt to walk? Well probably not, but you certainly had many people to help and encourage you along the way. They showed you the tricks, they encouraged you, they picked you up and got you going again when you stumbled or fell down. So find someone who has already done it successfully to be your support and speed your progress up. Share your vision with them. If they are good, they will give you many things to get you going but do not expect to get this help for free. There is no such thing as a free dinner. But as I said if they are good, it is well worth it.

I have followed these rules and am really enjoying my journey and getting the rewards I planned for. I? have a fantastic coach who I speak to every week, at least once by phone all as part of his minimal monthly charge.
