Attraction Marketing - 5 Principles for Success

The attraction marketing tip of the day from Nick Lang is to work on yourself. Consider who you are most attracted to. I do not mean lust or desire of a physical nature. I'm talking about a different kind of attraction.

The kind of attraction that I'm referring to involves inspiration. Are you inspired by anyone? Who makes you want to be a better person when you are around them? Don't you just have a better sense of self worth and greater appreciation of life when you are with them? You feel attracted to their inspiring qualities and want to be around them and learn from them.

Consider what it is about that person that inspires you. What is it? Is it their pure heart and love for others? Their passion for life? How they make others feel important? Their knowledge and wisdom? How they motivate you? Is it their committment to and belief in a worthy goal? Is it because they know exactly where they are going and believe with everything in them that they will get there, and you feel yourself wanting to be a part of that?

What if you had those same qualities? Can you visualize yourself being that person? Can you picture how your life could change for the better if you took on those qualities for yourself?

Work on these 5 principles every day to develop those traits.

1. Read. Get your hands on anything that will motivate and inspire you. Read material created from the most successful experts in your profession. Look for patterns of success. Do this for 30 minutes each morning.

2. Listen. When you drive, play educational audio material. What should you listen to? Anything that is in line with your ultimate goals in life.

3. Plan. Take time to plan each day to keep yourself on track. What are the most important things you need to accomplish each day. Schedule a time to get those things done.

4. Avoid anything that could slow your progress. Stay away from negative situations, harmful habits, and addictive substances or activities. Don't waste your time on unproductive activities.

5. Connect with a higher power. Whatever your personal beliefs are regarding a higher power, take time each day with a grateful heart and seek for guidance and assistance as you work to become who you were born to be.

I can promise you that if you do these things consistently, your life will dramatically improve in every aspect. Be the inspiration that you wish to see in others and people will naturally be attracted to you.

The Internet Marketing Treadmill

In the past few days we have discussed the state of the Internet marketing business. Let's just assume for the time being that I am right and that the big search engines will continue to slap the gurus when ever they attempt to automate the exploitation of what should be organic search. Under these conditions, traditional SEO efforts are simply not going to work.

I bought a book on SEO a month ago. It was a new publication. I read it completely through last weekend and, honestly, there is very little left in that book that holds true today. I really feel for the book companies and publishers. This can't be welcome news. I think this will tend to affect those who want to get into the Internet marketing business as well. How in the world does one ever get enough information into one's head fast enough to get started. My observation is that the business is changing almost faster than a person can read. By the time you order and receive that $197 course from Russ the Guru, that marketing process has probably gone obsolete.

I think that this is one reason that so many courses are bought and never used. I once ordered a course on "Traffic Secrets" a few years ago. It was a nicely packaged case loaded with CDs and course material. The problem was that the "on-ramp" was just too long. By the time I was one third of the way into the course, I was already getting emails from other gurus who were pointing out the search engine changes that made my stuff obsolete.

Getting started in Internet marketing today is a bit like jumping onto a treadmill that is already moving. You have to watch it for a few minutes to get the cadence, then when you are ready you hop on and immediately assume the pace. At the same time, you cannot take too much time off. If you go away to Hawaii for three weeks without your laptop, then expect some significant pressure to catch up when you return. But this is not to say that it is a difficult momentum to hold. I could keep it on cruise control with about 2 hours per day of concentrated work. We'll talk about what it takes to be organized enough to pull this off in another article.

What I really wanted to highlight today is that the new gold rush is approaching fast. With a mobile market potential out there of over 5 billion people, there is no excuse for anyone not to be able to earn a significant income online. It is easier today than it was last year. But it will require that you abandon some old habits and adopt some new ones. The world will continue to change whether you participate or not. Find your best source of proven and reliable information, then fully endorse it! You will never look back.

Perpetual Traffic Systems - Down and Dirty Part 2

n the last article we talked about the state of conventional Internet Marketing systems, about how technical it is, about how the gurus mostly just play you, and about how the goal posts are constantly being moved by the big search engines. How does the average Internet entrepreneur keep up? Well, mostly you don't. You continue to fork over your life savings - $97 at a time. All that is about to change.

I've already talked about how we build a business based on the traditional Internet marketing model. We'll call it Internet Marketing 2.0. You build solid websites - populating them with valuable content. You become good at on-page and off-page SEO and you demonstrate daily human activity on those sites. In a few months, you will be sitting at the top of the pile! I tried an experiment with a friend a few months back. He's just a kid (35 years old) - part of what I call the "attention deficit generation - ADGs I call them. He wanted to be # 1 on Google overnight. I tried to tell him that it's just not going to happen. He walked away from the domain and so I played with it for a few days. I tuned up the graphics and re-worded the content so that it was keyword rich.

I included proper "alt" tags on all of the graphics. I made good use of white space and I put the opt-in box above the fold. Twice a week I made a few content changes on the site. I used Google Alerts to find me the blogs and forums that talked about my niche market. Every single day I visited 10 of those blogs or forums and made contributing comments - leaving my URL in the author resource box or signature block. After three months this website ranks #1 on Google out of 11.2 million sites. That is nice but let me give you a few statistics that really put this situation into perspective.

A recent study was released showing the click habits of those visiting Google's first page. I was totally blown away to find that in the advertising block at the top only 2-3% of people clicked on those links. The #1 spot achieved between 31 and 45% of the clicks! And every single one of those clicks is FREE! the right side bar ads received a paltry 1% of the clicks.

I called my friend on his attention deficit device and told him to go search Google for his niche market. He was absolutely shocked. I told him that now that it is at the top, he'd better go put some product on it so he can start making money!

I have perhaps oversimplified the SEO parts here in the interest of brevity, but most of it is there. There are a few other techniques I used that help out a lot too.

There are an estimated 1.1 billion people on the net searching every day. If you have a passion, I'm betting that you can get a tiny little piece of that action without too much blood, sweat and tears. I hope to tell you more about how to achieve that in the coming weeks.

Perpetual Traffic Systems - Down and Dirty Part 1

I've been writing about the changes in the Internet marketing business for about a year now. We all know that there are a ton of people out there just itching to get going at this, but what is stopping them is the rapidly changing environment. Just when you think you have it figured out, the search engines change their algorithm and you are left with your $197 useless product.

I find it quite amusing that some of the smarter gurus seem to be beginning to understand that they can no longer sell automated "out-of-the-box" solutions for Internet marketing. Some are panicking, and others are scrambling to put together new $197 packaged solutions. The theme now seems to be that they want to teach you how to get perpetual traffic to your site for free! You and I both know that nothing is free.

Just as a side note, one can tell that they've all been learning from each other. They use the standard tricks of the trade. First tell everyone you must be nuts for offering the product. Then tell them that by the time they finish watching the video, the product may be taken down or sold out! They call this trick "scarcity".

Some nig-nog somewhere decided that if you and I perceived the product to be in short supply, we would try harder to get it. That is like the realtor who wants to put a "sold" sign on a property that sells! When my last home sold, I made the realtor take the sign down. The property is sold and therefore no longer available. If he puts a sold sign on it, it has no value to me. And after all, the sale of my home is all about me - and not the realtor!

I recently reviewed three micro niche marketing systems that claim to be able to make you get all the free traffic you can imagine from a silly little loophole that the big search engines left open. The rich media presentations they use to promote their concepts do little more than try to demonstrate to you how complicated the system is and why you really need their support and services to navigate your way through.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is that they want yet another $197 of your money so that they can send you electronic wares that they know 99.4% of you will never put to use.

Look, the bottom line is that paid search is declining. They've torn up the rule book and burned all existing SEO models. Whatever you do, don't buy a book on SEO that was published before July 2010! It would be pretty much useless to you.

Organic search is now king. This means that you must have great content on your site. You are going to have to focus on content for the first couple of months, and then when your site starts ranking on page two of the biggest search engine, you should shift gears toward refining your on-page and off-page SEO. Of course, hand in hand with organic search you will find the concept of measurable human activity. Human activity is going to be used by the big search engines to grade your page. I am going to talk more about this in detail in my next article.

Cliches and the Art of Niche Marketing

There is a lot of talk lately about niche markets. The term just seems to roll off the tongue without due regard to the implication of the word's understanding. When you hear "niche market", what do you think of? For some people a niche market is where 30,000 people per day are searching for the product. For others, a niche market is where 900 people per day are searching the market keywords. It's all relative.

If you are just starting out in the Internet marketing business, it will be more important for you to go after smaller niche markets at first. When you have $60,000 in your PPC slush fund, then you can start to target the broader niche markets successfully. Remember, you have to outwork the next guy! It's like the hikers in the woods. You only have to run faster than your friend in order to not get eaten by the bear!

If you are coachable and passionate, you already hold the keys to success in your hands. The tools are mostly free and technique is only a few weeks of dedication away from being yours to flaunt. The best advice I can give you is that you look at the world as your opportunity. See possibility in everything that happens. If you are a negative person, change today. If you watch the news every night - stop that now! It will only depress you and there is nothing you can do to change matters. Read "The Secret". All there will be - already is. It is your challenge to see it. When you believe it, you will see it. When the student is ready, the teacher appears. You know the cliches.

If you are on everyone's spam list, then get yourself off it. Use your host's spam filters or change your email. If you are reading this today and thinking that you are no further ahead than you were a year ago, then I rest my case. If you want better results, then make a commitment to change the way you work.

If you fight with your spouse over this stuff then stop arguing. Remember this - in any argument with your spouse, you are allowed just one word. The very next word is the start of a new fight. You can win by focussing on the small stuff.

What really matters in life? If you don't like computers, then don't fantasize about Internet marketing. Do what moves you. Find out what floats your boat and embrace it.

And if you got this far and you still feel like this stuff is for you, then shut everyone out and focus on this for two hours every day. Ask questions of people who will give you the time of day. Take baby steps and before long you will be depositing Internet paycheques into your account.

Finally, recognize the sober reality that if you do all else correctly, you should allow 4 months to build you niche marketing funnel. After that, you won't be able to turn it off! And those days, my friend, are what it's all about!

Targeted Niche Markets

I took a drive up country this past weekend with my business partner. We looked back over the 70 plus websites we have and started to think about where we would go with niche marketing in the next part of 2010. One thing was quite clear when we looked at what we had done this year.

As the search engines tighten their algorithms in an effort to squeeze out the guru marketing tornadoes, the average small entrepreneur is left chasing scant bits of information about how to nail down local markets. Just as the stock market likes a stable environment, so too does the Internet marketing business.

What I noticed about much of what we did with our websites over the past 6 months boils down to a simple formula. We find someone with a great product who doesn't have a clue how to market himself. Mostly we've found these people to be the geeks and scientists among us. Some of them have really brilliant products, but have no way of knowing what potential their markets hold.

One example is retirement property. The whole reason we went up country was to scope out what we heard was a decent piece of retirement real estate. When I got to the property, I was blown away by its awesomeness! It had everything. And the developer had spared no expense putting in paved driveways, offering free geothermal drilling and a range of other stuff.

I asked him how many of these 3 acre lots he had sold last year. He indicated the number was about 12. I was a bit shocked. My search engine research had already told me that over 1800 people per day were looking for properties like his. Since his prices were good, and the location was outstanding, why weren't the sales at least triple?

The developer was a hard working man of the earth. He knew real estate well and knew how to make the best product. He was not so good at getting seen. Granted, he did a superb job of creating a free DVD for his project, but still the traffic had not materialized.

Enter Internet entrepreneurs like you and me. What we do here is perform a ton of keyword research, find the right domain name, register the domain, create the hosting account, choose the platform for the site, write some killer content, include videos, a landing page, a squeeze page, and an auto-responder form, then publish the site.

After that, we go to work seeding the site with content and creating backlinks. As customers begin to find the site, the developer starts to get the traffic he rightfully deserves.

It is a very different environment out there today. We need to understand how it works and we must realize that there are very few who can put it all together and make it work. You are reading this article and that means you are likely one of the few.

Learn to Love Change

Today I created a "meetup" group for a number of local newbies that were interested in creating an online presence for themselves. It seems that everyone is talking about how to make a few extra bucks these days. The economy hasn't been good for quite some time now and it doesn't show many signs of improving anytime soon.

That said, you have only to look at the statistics for numbers of millionaires created in the past ten years to see that the trend is white hot. For those slugging it out in the trenches - those in bricks and mortar businesses, it has to be tough going. One thing I have noticed as a computer analyst with 35 years experience is the most people don't like change. I find this fact so disturbing because the one thing that is constant is that there will be change. I love change. Ask my wife! I never put something back in the same place twice!

The fact of the matter is that people are changing the way they purchase. Every year more and more people are buying online. Ask the newspapers how sales are going? Ask the radio stations how their revenue streams are? You are going to find the newspapers are in dire straights. You'll find the radio markets in tremendous turmoil as they all fight for the little bits of market left. Think about it! Who reads the newspapers anymore? They are destroying forests and polluting the planet to put ink on a piece of paper that brings me the news that I already read 18 hours ago on InstaPundit or PJTV! What's with that?

Look what happened when a small band on pseudo-intellectuals got together to dream up a scheme to transfer western wealth to third world countries under the direction of a "New World Order"! Global Warming was the moniker they tagged this massive malfeasance with in an effort to brainwash you all into believing that humans could actually affect global CO2 levels! Ten years ago, they would have gotten away with it. Of course, the mainstream media all fell for it because unlike you and me, they are incapable of change. It was only the new age mavens of the Internet that saved our collective bacon on this one.

But I digress. The point is that things change. Markets change. It is not that the economy is that bad, it is just that some people don't benefit from it in the same way they used to. What I'm going to teach in our weekly "meetup" group is how to spot the trends and harness the power of change to put real change, and probably bills, into my client's pockets. It is not difficult driving if you know the road. I find the power of mastermind groups like this to be refreshing and stimulating.

When two people exchange a dollar, each walks away with a dollar. But when 10 people exchange an idea, 10 people walk away with 100 ideas. This is the way of the new economy. The sooner you accept it and endorse it, the sooner you will be better for it.

Make Money in a Changing Economy

For nearly ten years I've been talking, lecturing and instructing about internet marketing. From the beginning, my message has been consistent. The internet will completely re-write the rules as we know them. It is no longer the big that eat the small, but rather the fast that eat the slow.

Today you can make an enormous living online. Imagine asking this question back in 1970. "What if you could own a piece of the global distribution rights to the most important anti-aging discovery of a lifetime?"

Back in 1970, I'd ask what you've been smoking! Today, I would be showing you how to positioning yourself in front of one of the biggest megatrends in the history of our economy - and expecting you to get rich doing it!

We have only to look at the dynamics of change to see the enormous opportunity that is before us. In the US, 1 in 10 home owners are in the process of losing their homes. In 2009, 32% of our net worth was lost. Of the top 500 actively trading companies in the US, 8 of 10 did not have enough money in their pension funds to meet projected demands.

In 2010, well over 1 million books are published every year. Americans have access to over a trillion web pages. There are 240 million televisions in the US and 2 million of them are in bathrooms! Online newspaper readership is up 30 million in the last five years alone. More video was uploaded to the internet in the last 45 days than was aired on all of the networks collectively since 1948! Do you think we're changing?

The average American teen sends over 2200 text messages per month. Political candidates raise millions of dollars through social media in just days. The president of the United States raised 55 million dollars in an amazing 29 days. Do you think we're changing?

Ninety percent of the 200 billion email messages send daily are spam. What used to fit in a building, now fits into your pocket. What fits in your pocket will soon fit inside one blood cell.

Trend-spotting is a science today. If you think for one second that you can't make money online, then go back and re-read this article. You aren't paying attention. The world is changing whether you get on board or not.

There is no deep dark secret to getting your share. The formula is out there. Accept that change happens. Endorse it. Live it. Find your emerging market then throw yourself in traffic - metaphorically speaking, of course!

Hey, I Can Do That!

Working at home on your own Internet business can be quite rewarding. Consider the time, effort and expense related to working at your existing job. If you have a 45-minute commute each way, you've burned up 90 minutes before you've even done a single productive task!

Working from home you don't need to travel to some other location. If you really want, you can just hop out of bed and shuffle over to the computer. You're now at work! You can put in an hour or so, then head off to get dressed and have a shower... or not!

You also don't have to insure your car for travel to and from work! Cha-ching... you just saved about $150 a year! You can listen to your favorite music or radio station while you work! You can work as long or as short a time as you feel you need to. If you want to take four-day weekends, you can do so without having to beg for permission!

The very best part of working at your own Internet business is that you can determine your own income. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. If you are a generally lazy person with no ideas, no skill and no personality, then you might find working at your own Internet business a bit of a challenge. If, on the other hand, you are a go-getter - one who is full of ideas and loves to be creative, then you will just love this business! I attend conventions with others who work online and I find that they make, on average, a very decent living. When I attended the last convention in Las Vegas back in July 2009, the income range was between $4,000 and $130,000 per month.

You should be aware that this kind of top end is not common and one should not expect that kind of income. It takes a combination of extraordinary skill and luck to achieve those results. At the same time, you should be aware that if you were working for a local fast-food restaurant or hardware store, you would never be capable of making that kind of income. It could be said that working on your own Internet business is a bit like playing the lottery. If you don't play, then I'll guarantee that you will never win!

You might be thinking, "Ok then, why isn't everyone doing an online business in their spare time?" This is where it begins to get complicated. Many thousands of people reach the point where they make a decision, or show a desire, to create an online business. My research indicates that there are in excess of 700,000 searches per day by people looking for ways to create an online income! You might want to read that last line again! 700,000 people PER DAY want to find a way to make money online!

So what is it that stops most of them from developing an online business? Well, here's what happens. People jump onto their favorite search engine and type in some combination of keywords. They start reading what others have done to make their fabulous online cash flow systems. A week or two goes by, and suddenly people discover they are on two dozen or more email lists (hit lists). These lists are managed by automated robots that are programmed to send you a sales letter every two or three days.

The letters are highly optimized for maximum psychological impact. You may be nodding your head right now in agreement. Don't feel badly - many people end up purchasing thousands of dollars in programs. At first you find it tremendously exciting! You read everything that you can get your hands on. But each of us has our breaking point. As much as you want to win this game, most people don't even get half way through the volumes of material before they discover a roadblock or two that makes success very difficult. People find they simply can't do all of the things called for in the instructions. Not willing to toss in the towel, people then find themselves looking for "outsourcing" options.

The days turn to weeks, and the weeks turn to months as people hunt for the elusive "answer". Before long, the would be netpreneur finds he's wasted a year or more. Overloaded with information and no closer to his dream, the average "joe" entrepreneur walks away dejected and bitter.

There are approximately 30 "internet gurus" out looking for you in 2010. They want anywhere from $97 to $4997 of your hard earned cash. Some of their programs include 12 DVDs, dozens of documents and a very large pile of "Private Label Rights" bonuses. If you recognize this route, then you know what I'm talking about. It is "the" major flaw with the Internet hype these days, and it's called "Information Overload".

If this article does just one thing for you, I hope it is this. Be very wary of information overload. Make sure you walk before your run. Not everyone is skilled at all of the things you need for creating an online business.

The "GURU", for example, has the following skills, abilities and resources: He/she can type 40 to 60 words per minute, he has Adobe Master Suite, Xara Xtreme Pro, Dreamweaver or some other solid website creation tool - such as XSite Pro. He knows all about file transfer protocol (FTP) and hypertext markup language (html). He is familiar with cascading style sheets (CSS). He can create vector graphics and knows the difference between transparent graphics, PNG files, JPG files and GIF files. He understands affiliate links and knows about cloaking links.

He knows about site tracking and he has accounts with Google, Yahoo, 7Search, Bing and others. He is likely an AdWords expert. He has enough cash to blow through $1,000 testing an ad and he understands what "split testing" is. He even has an account with an auto responder service like Aweber. It is also likely that has a premium keyword research tool like Market Samurai to do his keyword research - and he knows the difference between long tail and short tail keywords. He knows what the "net" is looking for on any given day. He can tap into the competition's keywords and he is a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) expert.

Buying a $2000 program is not going to get you to the level you just read about. Buying $5,000 worth of programs and information won't do it either. What will do it is finding a small starting place - a micro niche. Take just a tiny little slice out of this huge pie. Learn how to make a few dollars ($400 to $1000 per month) extra without having to break the bank. Once you get this running, then begin to ramp up.

Come to some of the seminars with us and join the right blogs and forums. One thing you will find is that most of us are very willing to help the newbie along. We need you to be successful so that others know it can be done.

You will eventually learn about domain names and how to register them and host them. In the meantime, find one good source of information and then ignore everyone else. This is easier said than done. I am speaking from experience here! I wasted over 5 years before I finally found the rel=nofollow program that put it all into perspective for me.
