Your Home Based Business Will Go Down the Tube Big Time If You Do This One Stupid Thing

This is no time for nonsense. So, let's get right down to business.

One early Sunday morning my wife wanted to take advantage of a special sale at one of our local retail stores. Not being the type to want to fight the crowds at 8:30 AM, I decided to wait for her in the car and listen to the radio.

Right from the beginning I was captivated by an infomercial. A "doctor" that I never heard of was being "interviewed" by someone about his revolutionary product that was a combination of vitamins, minerals and his "special protein formula". For over half an hour he went on and on about the supposed benefits of his unique, soon to be patented, exceptional product.

Everyone who has ever listened to an infomercial knows what came next.

For the first one thousands callers only, they would get a "special deal" on the price and the shipping just because they were unfortunate enough in my opinion to be listening to this nonsense on an early Sunday morning. Does any of this sound familiar to you?

What do these promoters think we are----brain dead?

As the infomercials always say, "But wait, there is more".

After "doctor #1" finished his 30 minute pitch, I couldn't believe what happened next! Another infomercial started with "doctor #2". His pitch was similar to "doctor #1". This time amino acids and antioxidants along with his "special formula"----gosh, where have we heard that before----would bring your liver back to life, make your colon like new and give you more energy than a five year old at a Memorial Day picnic.

Give me a break!

I just had to write about this for you because a lot of home based business owners make what is, in my opinion, a decision that is not really in their own best interest. Like these infomercial pitches, many home based business owners may get people to buy their products once or twice, but after that its "hit the bricks" and go out to find new customers.

The fact is, building a long term business with repeat customers is just about impossible if you are only selling that "specially formulated" stuff. People lose interest real fast when they see that what they are buying really has no benefits.

Do you really think that this is smartest way to run a business?

We can all agree that it makes more sense to have a home based business that sells things that people need everyday, always buy and are familiar with, rather than trying to sell them something that is unique and special. Stop kidding yourself about how you're going to "make it big" with some "special secret formula product".

Obviously, you don't even want to try to change people's buying habits. Experience shows that there is a better way to build a home based business.

In a future article I'll show you what you should be doing.

I love helping people make their dreams come true with a home based business. http://www.youtube.com/user/HomeBizDream

Toothpicks to Dollars

Woodworking Projects For Cash

The right woodworking projects put money in your pocket. If someone needed a toothpick, and you carved one, you could sell it. If you made a drink tray or a beverage cart, could you sell it? How about if you were a licensed contractor and someone wanted you to build a house, could you make money at it? Usually woodworking projects are on a much smaller scale than building a house, but any of them can make you money.

Let's look at smaller projects that can make you money. A friend of mine makes a tool chest for kids. It's shaped like a covered wagon. He has a waiting list, he can not keep up with the demand. He makes a nice profit on each one. Small money making projects are almost endless. You can make custom things to order or mass produce popular items.

I see a lot of woodworkers selling projects they build on the side of the road. A unique garden addition was an outhouse with a moon on the door. The outhouse was about 2' square and 5 foot tall. It was painted to resemble wood boards with a door and crescent moon. The price was $125. Another woodworking project I saw was light houses. There were several different sizes and some were lit. I'm not sure if they were replicas or good looking plans built and painted.

Making larger items can bring in profit on a larger scale. A friend of mine makes log swings and chairs. He gathered wood in the fall and early winter. He built the log swings and chairs all winter and sold them in spring and summer. He sold out every year. Another woodworker built a variety of picnic tables. A bare bones regular picnic table sold for $119. There were several places that sold pre made wood sheds. I saw prices of $600 and $800 on medium sized sheds.

The list of woodworking money makers is endless. There are people that want a bench in their garage or plant shed. Bookcases, shelving and cabinets are more possibilities. Outdoor projects could include benches and storage cabinets for grilling. Customers requests and your imagination are what can put money in your woodworking pocket.

If you find a very popular product, you may want to mass produce it. With some thought you can come up with some ways to hold your wood in the same place every time. Making 5 or ten or more of the same thing, can cut down labor time. If you set up a saw to cut a certain length, cutting a lot of pieces can go by fast. Cutting each piece separately takes much more time. Making jigs for drilling holes in the same place every time makes assembly much quicker.

So what's the secret in making money from woodworking? Find something people want and you can build. Make a few and test to see how well they sell. Make variations in wood, colors and designs. Streamline the operation for maximum efficiency. Find as many markets as you can to sell to. Make a bunch and sell, sell sell.

So you have an idea that people will buy what you build. Check out what people are buying. Build what people want. No matter what you build, you need plans. Find over 13999 projects in full detail at [http://www.woodprojectsforhome.com]http://www.woodprojectsforhome.com. You can draw your own plans yourself if you have the time and knowledge. The Dilemma to Work From Home Or Not

There are several people who are at the cross roads where they need to decide whether they should work from home or not. Although in your heart deep within you might already have the answer for this. You might know that you have got the answer for not being trapped in a nine to five job and would love to have more choices coming your way.

The first thing that you must do is to look at your finances really carefully. Once these have been taken care of then you will be free enough to devote time to your work from home business. Remember that the first few months, when you are setting up the venture you might not be able to make any money. Be prepared for that and have enough savings to be able to meet any contingency in life. Take into consideration all the expenditure such as the groceries, insurance, rents, telephone bills, transport, car upkeep and all the other hidden expenses too.

Finally, always have a plan B handy. In case after devoting say six months or a year to your online business if things don't seem to work out the way you envisaged then you must have an alternative and ready made plan to fall back on. Also, during different phases of one's life what might seem right now might not be so appealing at another point of time. Will you have some plan ready to be able to fall back on it at that time? You might also want to opt for a job that enables you to have a full time job and yet at the same time be able to work from home at times. This will ascertain that you are able to make the best of both worlds.

To decide to work from home could be a tough decision and you will really need to weigh your pros and cons well enough before you decide to take the leap of faith and once you do so stick to it in order to make it work for you.
