Let's start off with a figure, though I am not sure how they came up with it. Probably the same way that they come up with 97% of home business owners don't make any money. According to statistics, Google's Pac-Man day cost businesses world wide about $160 million in wasted man hours. These were people at work who were playing Pac-Man instead of doing their jobs. Amazing how Google can have that big an effect on things. But tell me something. Were you one of those people?

I have a confession to make. I was. I played about three games of Pac-Man and it took about 20 minutes of my day. No, I'm not very good at the game. Otherwise it would have been a lot longer. Point is, that was 20 minutes that I wasn't working on my business. Now, given that I make six figures a year and 20 minutes isn't that big a deal, it really didn't affect my day much at all. I probably would have wasted that time doing something else. And that brings me to my bigger point here.

How much of YOUR day do you waste doing things that aren't related to your home business? I'm not talking about the things you have to do like eat, chores, or whatever things you have around the house that need to be taken care of. But too much play doesn't get the job done.

Truth is, way too many home business owners spend less than two hours a day on their business. I have a news flash for you. You can't create and run a successful home business on two hours a day. Heck, when I first started, working 14 hours a day, it took me months to finally build a solid business. Sacrifices had to be made if I was going to make it quickly.

Network Marketing and Facebook Games

I realize everyone needs entertainment, and if you want to place Facebook games with your personal friends and family, enjoy. Send them hugs and kisses, candy, cookies, cafe neighbor requests or whatever.

When I connect with other network marketers on Facebook, I:

Look at their profile to see if we have common interests
Look at their recent wall posts, and the groups and fan pages they belong to
Thank them for being my friend and try to start a conversation based on common interests

If you are in MLM/network marketing, and you reach out to other network marketers to build relationships based on this common interest, pay attention to what their profile tells you!

This all comes back to how you should approach relationship building. You should be looking for ways to add value to the other person's business or life. You are NOT adding value by sending this stuff. You are wasting their time and possibly annoying them! If they don't play games, they will not respect you as a serious business person if you attempt to engage them in games.

An extra clue would be if they are a fan of "I don't care about your farm, or your fish, or your park, or your mafia!!!"

In a traditional job environment, you work during working hours. You play games and chit chat on breaks. I know, MLM is not a traditional job. We are in this business largely because we dislike traditional jobs. We don't want someone telling us what to do or when to do it. But we do want to make money, right?

The only way playing games could possibly be part of an income-producing activity is if it builds more know, like, and trust into the relationship. And it will only do that if the person actually likes playing these games. If you see that they play games, after you have built a relationship, ask if they want to play. But do NOT send these invitations to people unless you KNOW they are interested!

If you spend quite a bit of time playing games, you need to ask yourself why. To me, it is the same as counting your paper clips, sorting your papers, and running errands that could wait. You are getting ready to get ready to work. You are avoiding the real tasks that could build your business. Think about it!

I have written on this before. I'm sure I'll write on it again.

Here is yet another example of why this is so true!

I'm not much of a video game guy but I do have a PS3 and enjoy the 'Shoot-'em-up' games. I particularly enjoy the Call of Duty series.

I was playing Modern Warfare 2 the other day with a friend in Special Ops mode.

We came upon a particular section that gave us a LOT of trouble! We probably played it 30 or 40 times and never even got 30% through the game! Plus, it just kept getting harder & harder.

We were even playing on the easiest level. Talk about frustrating!

We tried everything. We thought up multiple strategies. Nothing worked!

We both got very frustrated. My buddy got so frustrated that he refused to ever play that level again.

I, on the other hand, am much more stubborn. I refuse to quit.

Another buddy came and we decided to play this particular level. We played it for over 10 hours (not consistently). All of the strategies we tried didn't work initially.

When I played this level with the first guy, we kept trying similar strategies and we always had similar outcomes. Why did we expect anything different?

Insanity!

When I played it with the other guy, we started having some successes. We changed our strategies and were able to get a little further. When something didn't work, we changed it. When something did work, we expounded upon it.

After a long time playing that stupid game... WE WON!!!!!

Why did we win? - 2 Reasons:

We didn't quit
We learned from our mistakes and made changes until we found something that worked

I suppose another option would have been to search for some type of cheat or hint or something. That would have saved us a lot of time I'm sure.

When it comes to our success in Network Marketing, or anything else for that matter, these same principles apply.

Don't quit, learn from mistakes, seek out assistance and information.
