Sales Skills Needed for Your Successful Home Based Business

First of all we need to define sales skills, and remove the negative stereotypes which surround the typical "salesman." Ask anyone who hasnot engaged in a sales career, and often their perception of the sales trade is exactly opposite of that of a successful salesperson.

As you pursue your home based business, you'll want to consistently pay attention to the following.

A. Being pushy and aggressive does not sell. It turns people offand often makes them defensive. Being courtesly assertive and persistent is what your aiming for. This is a skill which anyone can better at. Think of the last major purchase you made where the sales process was seamless. I would suspect your needs or desires were identified, and the salesperson simply provided you a solution which you purchased. Fact is, most home based businesses offer a credible product or service.

B. The expression you have 2 ears and 1 mouth, because you need to listen twice as much as you speak, is key to selling successfully in any home based business. People will tell you what you want if you simply ask directive questions and listen. Avoid trying to give too much information, it will usually confuse most people, and they will not be able to make an educated decision. The great thing about home based businesses is most people who are considering are usually serious about starting something. Identify first what they want, and then and only then, can thedecision if your home based business suits their needs. I can't stress this point enough. The mistake most salespeople make is talking too much, and talking past the close.

C. Let's identify the sales process. On a sheet of paper draw a line. On the far left write "warm-up". In the middle of the line write presentation, and at the far right put in "close". On top of the presentation draw in several arrows pointing to the line and label trial closes. Let's discuss. When you are first introduced to your prospect usually via telephone you want to form a connection and establish rapport (warm-up). Remember, people will purchase your home based business opportunity if they feel comfortable with you. Talk about their past work experiences, their family, goals etc. You'll know when you've established rapport, and then its time to begin your presentation of your home based business. The trial closes are merely questions or comments you ask in order to provide feedback, and hopefully tacit consent or buy in to your home based business. Don't make the mistake of speeding through your business providing endless details. You need to get feedback from your prospect. Think of trial closes as mini closes with a cumulative effect. The more favorable response and interaction you receive during your presentation, the easier the actual close will be. Think of trial closes as the process we all go through before we buy a pair of shoes. We try them on, walk down the aisle, view in the floor mirror from different angles. These are all trial closes which allow you to comfortably purchase the shoes and leave the store. Afterall, most people know their shoe size, but I'm willing to guess in the history of man, no one has ever walked in a store and bought a pair of shoes without going through that ritual.

D. Whether the home based business you are discussing is inexpensive ( a few hundred dollars) or high end ( thousands of dollars), it really isn't important. If your prospect is qualified and properly informed, the decision process is the same. If your presentation was interactive, and tacit consent through trial closes was given, then simply assume he/she will join.

Think of a traffic light between your presentation and the close. Once your presentation is complete, the traffic light will be red, green or yellow. It may be your prospect is not interested in your home based business. That's a "red" light, and it happens, don't beat yourself up. Occasionally the light is "green." Move quickly to the close and discuss financial arrangements. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Most prospects will see a "yellow" light. There's a degree of caution, and they could stop or proceed forward. Usually they see "yellow" because they need a little more information or direction. Success is made in home based businesses by people who can help those "yellow" viewers see "green."

Volumes of material have been written about sales techniques. It is my hope this article has provided some insight to help you increase sales in your home based business. Followme in future articles and I'll reveal more proven sales methods.

Good Luck

MLM Recruiting, How You Can Do It Properly

People often think that MLM recruiting is the hardest part of a Network Marketing business.

Coupled with the drag of actually picking up the phone and the possibility of rejection, leads many people to avoiding this all important aspect of network marketing. The problem is that the whole purpose of network marketing is to build a residual income, and that can only be done by sponsoring new blood into your team. One thing's for sure, you won't build a residual income single handed, you need a team. Period.

You are not going to become wealthy in this industry if you only sell products to customers. You are going to need to continually find new customers or your income will dry up, and who wants to spend their life working as a salesman.

We will only be paid for two types of action in our business. Number 1 is inviting as many folks as possible to watch your company presentation. Number 2 is following up with them.

By devoting most of your time to these activities, you are going to ensure that you develop the walk away income that you are looking for.

If you're marketing your business using the internet then don't get caught up trying to be an internet 'guru', otherwise chances are you will spend the next 2 years learning all this stuff when you could have just picked up the telephone and talked to 1 or 2 people a day about your business. Definately take advantage of the internet and all that it can offer you, do whatever you need to do online, but don't let it distract you from personal prospecting.

So is there a secret to recruiting lots of folks into your business? Not really, the key is simply to get a lot of people watching your presentations and that really is about it.

Here are some tips to help you along

You need to come up with a reliable way to find new people to talk to about your business every day. One of the easiest and most efficient ways to do this is online. You generate targeted traffic to a marketing system and convert them to leads.

Deliver presentations to as many people as possible on a daily basis. You can do this on the internet also, there are various methods of doing this like videos, Skype, webinars, conference calls etc.

If you really want to take things to the next level then you should be doing your own presentations, this elevates your status massively in the eyes of your prospects, and everyone wants to work with a leader. Since I started doing my own presentations I've sponsored more people. If you are not ready to start doing presentations, then either get ready now, or just start doing it. There's no point in procrastinating, do you want to be a leader or not? The best way to get over fear is to face it head on, just start doing your own presentations.

Personally follow up with your leads on the telephone. You can't rely on 'automated sign ups', whilst these can happen, it probably won't happen very often. MLM recruiting requires you personally connecting and following up with your prospects, a signup will most likely happen AFTER they've seen the presentation and you call them to close the sale.

You must master MLM recruiting if you are going to build a successful business. It's a learning curve and one that will pay you dividends once you get it right.

Types of Webinars and How to Get the Most Out of Each

I'm tired. You see I just spent two hours in a strategy session trying to explain to someone that trying to use a webinar for the wrong purpose just won't work. And that expecting to get one result out of a webinar while telling your client you're providing something different is a fool's game.

The problem is that there are too many different types of webinars. We tend to use the word in a helter-skelter catch-all way.

Unfortunately, to get the most out of each we need to know what each is and when to use it.

There are two main groups of webinars -- those whose purpose is to train and those whose purpose is to sell. And ne'er the two shall meet. Now that doesn't mean that you can't use training to sell. You just can't use a training webinar to sell -- unless it's a hybrid which is a selling webinar.

Let's try going down one level and maybe it will become clearer.

There are four basic types of training webinar:

1. Lectures are single direction training. That is the host is providing the information and the audience is receiving it. Frankly getting the most out of these is a matter of recording them and selling them as DVDs or digital products.

2. Seminars are two way directional training. They are characterized by questions, answers and discussions. Getting the most out of these involves having a backup plan for when people don't answer!

3. Interactive webinars are the equivalent of the tutorial. They take the interactivity of seminars to the furthest extent and focus on discussions. Unfortunately, they don't work well for most situations. Leave them for departmental meetings.

4. Workshop webinars are basically demonstrations of a tool or technique. Typically they are a variation of the lecture although they can be effective as a mix of lecture and seminar. These work well for demonstrating computer based software such as Word or PowerPoint or WordPress.

Getting the most from any of the training webinars involves planning the course. Like any course they need to follow a firm script.

There are two types of sales webinars:

1. The sales presentation focuses on identifying the benefits of a product or service and why the customer should buy. Effectively it's a commercial. Getting the most from this type of webinar involves two elements both focused on the customer. The first is entertainment. Keep the presentation light and fast. The second is interest. The subject and everything else in the presentation has to be focused on one of the client's motivators. Otherwise like any other sales presentation you'll lose the customer.

2. The hybrid mixes selling with teaching. Effectively it gives a taste or sample of the training you will get and then sells you on the service. The trick here is twofold. First you need to realize that this isn't a training session. Second you need to make the customer aware -- from the first -- that this is a sales presentation which will give them information. Why? Because if the customer thinks that they are about to receive training and they actually receive a sales spiel they will object. You will lose them. They may sit through the presentation. They may even listen. But they will leave thinking you lied to them.

Getting the most from a sales webinar involves keeping it light and entertaining. And it requires you being up front and honest with your customer.

How to Get Full Website Customization Easily

Presentation is everything these days no matter if you are heading to a local hotspot or a job interview. It seems as though first impressions are more important than ever. The same can be said about website customization. When the Internet was first becoming popular, the best sites were those that offered all the bells and whistles and that were full of animations and graphics. Today, people are trending more towards the simple designs with good navigation capabilities.

Sure, you want your website to look good and that is still very important as visual presentation can make or break any site, but you do not want it over done. So how can you find that middle ground without overdoing it? The following are some tips to creating a customized website easily:

Themes - There are many themes for websites that are offered on publishing programs but you can come up with your own if you stick to some very simple rules. The first thing to remember is to keep it simple. Choose colors that are on the same color scheme and that do not clash. The following are some other handy rules:

Colors - Colors should be in the same shade when possible. Do not mix a hard dark blue with a soft mellow green. The colors are not always seen by the human eye and can actually distract from the information you are offering. You do not want your colors to clash either. Just because you love lime green and purple does not mean that makes for a good presentation.
Background - You want to make sure that you have the correct color font that can easily be seen with the background color you have shown. For instance, if you are creating a black background then you want to have white or bright yellow for your font. You want something that is easy to see and read.
Purpose - Of course there are always exceptions. If your website is intended for a sports team that has clashing colors in their logo then of course this can be alright. At the end of the day, if it looks horrid to you when you are designing it, it is probably met with the same reaction when you post it.

Fonts - Sure it is great to have really decorative fonts on your website, but you want to make sure that they can be easily read. Only use one or two different fonts or else the site looks too busy. One for links and one for information is perfectly reasonable and can tie in the rest of the website nicely.

Presentation is everything and you do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on a web designer if you keep the above tips in mind. Keep it simple and make sure your colors and fonts match. That is all there is to building a great looking website that presents your products or ideas in a pleasing manner.

Dealing With Rejection in an MLM Business

Introduction

With the year coming to an end, so comes the great festivities Christmas, New year, a time to spend with the family, reminisce time and of course a time of sharing and giving. But in the midst of all this we cannot be oblivious to the fact there are families preparing themselves with a barrage of excuses to the reject of the wants of their children if not themselves.

WHY?

Simply, they don't have the finance to buy it, they will tell them not this year, it's not your age, we got something better for you. Worse is when your kids says, My friends has it why can't I have it, and the parents look at each other coming with their best excuse ever packaged just for this moment. Though this may seem a funny scenario, it actually is not for the family saying it, it does hurt to want to give yet not able to and to know the excuses are becoming harder.

T he rejection you give your child is actually a rejection you keep reinforcing within yourself, that you just cannot change your situation.

I have seen many people join MLM businesses with the idea of changing that very situation, but what unfortunately they bring along is their mindset of not being able to handle rejection or to stop making excuses. It's like a virus they bring along.

Rejection is the immunity that Builds our inner strength.

How does one face rejection, overcome it and make it a tool for change?

There are many articles on rejection, talking about how to overcome it. Truth is, overcoming rejection lies not in the reading but in the practicing. That does not mean I am saying go out there and find a rejection, the point here is, do your best, but if your best gives a result of rejection then you need to ask yourself why.

Was it the client?
Did the client have the money?
But if the client needed the opportunity why would he not take it?
Was it me? Was it my posture, my Breath, my dressing?
Was I too long in my explanation?
Was I not convincing enough?
Did I come as being unsure?
Was it my presentation?

Remember one thing, before you start blaming the business which usually comes in the beginning with rejection, the plan or the product, you need to do some research, ask yourself: Are there other members in this business facing similar issues, are there millionaires or successful people in this business. If so, what are they doing differently that I am not doing. If there are successful people in this business then blaming the business is not exactly going to get you what you want. If simply means you to have to look within you.

Where am I going wrong? How can they make it and I cant? If you look at the 10 reasons above, the last one was the presentation, the rest were questions very much related to yourself and your abilities.

How to deal with Rejection.

At times, it does not hurt to ask the prospect who just rejected you, to find out why. Simply ask them:

"I am not going to ask you to join, but for my sake, please can you tell me why did you not join and be honest. Was it my presentation, was it long, was it understandable, was it expensive or was it just my approach. These questions am asking you are going to benefit me in I understanding where I need to improve for my next presentation."

Don't be hesitant to ask these questions. Remember one session of finding out what needs to be corrected can drastically improve you to get 5 other presentations instead of losing them. So empty your cup, be humble about it and learn from it.

Tendancy with rejection, it brings forth the Ego Army, defensive walls go up and the tone goes up hoping this last tactic of forcefulness will get it. Big difference from being stern to the point presentation and one that is lousy with a gun in the head kind of presentation. If you don't sign up then....

Its good to be stern, to the point, put your facts in a logical manner, gain the interest of your prospect rather than continue with an already distracted client. At that point of presentation, there is a power play going on. I want to sell you something and the prospect is saying you are not going to get me to buy anything.

So what do you do in this situation? Forcing past his ego with your ego, is not the solution, it's more like two laser beams clashing to see who passes through first. Key aspect here is to start off humble, gain rapport, gain respect. Melt the ice to a level where beginning the presentation comes naturally and attentively.

Idea here is not that being humble is a sign of weakness but rather gathering strength to be stern at the right points, usually the closing and handling objections. Maintain your energy levels. At every stage of the presentation, try to maintain your natural smile, it has both a soothing and a comforting feeling, be natural with yourself and not a hypocritical conniving sales man like smile.

Enhancing The power of rejection.

I will like to share a technique I use just before a presentation, to help me go through it and be in control of the presentation, handle objections and how to handle rejections. Before a presentation, much before I present I ask myself why I am doing this presentation. Why do I need this signup?

Because I am sick and tired of being sick and Tired.
I am tired of making excuses and blaming others for my state of affairs.
I am tired of looking at my wallet all the time and count the cents.
I am tired of receiving bills.
I am tired of making excuses to my kids.
I am tired of looking at catalogues, I want now.
I want my dream car, my dream house, a family vacation.
I want to fire my boss.
I want to live an extraordinary life and not an ordinary one.

These powerful sentences create a force in me that it makes me present with such intensity, I visualise what I want, with no bars hold, I present intently with all intensity, that I am not going to take no for an answer. Even the prospect can relate to you, see the passion in you whilst presenting, your tone set up to a point where the prospect feels and knows you are not kidding around. Even after that, if the prospect rejects you, you don't feel sorry or depressed for yourself, you feel angry, because this rejection is not a mere NO, it's a NO to your dreams, a NO to what you want. Instead of going one step close to your dreams that NO set it apart, back to the drawing board.

Use that energy to fuel you to make you go to the next presentation with the same intensity, same passion that you will eventually get your Yes and what you want. Remember feel sorry for them for not joining you to change their lives and always know this.

"A critic is a legless person teaching others how to run"

Use rejection as a force of energy and not a depressor.

Webcasting - Moving Off the Printed Page

In some ways it's increasingly difficult to connect with customers in this Internet age - attention spans are at an all-time low just as competition becomes more and more fierce. Many organizations are moving beyond the traditional methods of marketing and communication, leaving brochures and takeaways behind for more engaging and current strategies. One such strategy is the increased use of corporate films.

Corporate films are used for a variety of reasons - as sales presentations, introductory statements or advertisements. Often they work in tandem with a live presenter as an illustration of their remarks. Corporate films can take what would normally be un-engaging data and transform it into a compelling presentation through the use of humanization and animation.

Humanization is the use of individuals to attach personality and empathy to products. While this is possible in traditional corporate media, film is where it truly has a chance to shine. By embedding the narrative of a company into a human being's narrative, the impersonal becomes personal. This can be accomplished both with actors and with corporate personnel - each has advantages and disadvantages. Actors guarantee a professional performance, but if they are portraying corporate staff there can be some disconnection when it comes time to close the deal. Non-professionals lend reality to the project, but often take more time and coaching in front of the cameras.

Animation is another useful tool that is native to film. Instead of un-engaging masses of data, animation allows businesses to present facts and figures in ways that are visually stimulating and lets presenters focus audience attention on positives in a way that is pleasant and unobtrusive. Visual stimulus is an important tool in engaging the learning centers of the brain, so well-conceived animation can stimulate those centers and encourage data retention.

If your organization is considering developing a corporate film for a sales presentation, multimedia project (such as a promotional CD-ROM or website) or other event, there are many companies that can assist in its production. Spending the extra cash for an experienced production agency can make all the difference in effectiveness.

Attributes of Effective Business Presentations For Your Home-Based Business

You have started a home-based-business but now you actually have to go out and talk to humans to sell your product or service.

Worse yet, you have to talk to GROUPS of humans.

That would be great except that you are VERY NERVOUS in front of people.

Let me help you out. Once you know the attributes of effective business presentations for your home-based-business you can watch your results in front of people soar.

Attribute 1: Know your product backwards and forwards

We stumble in front of people often because we do not know our product or service. You have a lot of resources including those that are in the business with you, the company itself and the internet. Remember that if you know what you are talking about, that should ease your mind.

Attribute 2: Understand why your audience is there

You got in the business because of a presentation you got. What was your mindset going in? What were YOU expecting to learn? What made YOU respond? Try to put yourself in the shoes of the audience and that will give you a leg up in delivering your presentation.

Attribute 3: Remember, people care about themselves

This sounds like a negative but it is not and it dovetails on #2 above. All of us wonder "what is in it for me," when doing anything. You do it yourself. When you looked to buy a dining room table, for example, would you respond better to a salesperson that asked you how much you had to spend or would you respond better to one that asked you in-depth questions about the layout of your dining room, how many people you had in your family, etc.

Remember, people what to know what is in it for them, so make sure you make your presentation about THEM and not what you want (obviously, a sale). The old axiom that says "give them what they want to get what you want" certainly applies here!

Attribute 4: Be real and be you

You do not have to be a cold, hard, fact giver. People buy from people they like. You have GOT TO BE LIKED to deliver a good business presentation. You have the potential to have a lifelong relationship with the people you sell to so just be you. Be the professional you, of course, but do not be afraid to let YOU shine through.

There are more attributes of effective business presentations for your home-based-business found at http://www.betterpresentations.biz and it includes a free chapter!

Jeff Biletnikoff has been in media (radio, TV, internet, newspaper) for over 20 years and has been involved in hundreds of successful business presentations. Jeff has also been an MC and stage actor as well.

How to Start an MLM Company - Tools to Succeed in MLM

Do you know somebody who knows somebody? Then you have a network. That's how business is done today. Even large companies are using traditional recommendations as sales trick. Multi-level marketing is experiencing rapid growth in Sweden and in the rest of the world. MLM companies offer people an alternative or complement to earn extra from home. Becoming a distributor or retailer of a product can be a tough task. The companies are talking about big revenue opportunities and a richer life. The Quadra-Plan, PayGate Accumulator and Compensation-Plan. Compensation plans that provide compensation for your own and your team's sales. There are also a bonuses, like cars and travels.

Is it pyramid schemes or serious business? According lotteries are illegal pyramid schemes in Sweden. On the other hand is borderline difficult because of the law. Many choose to try their luck to earn extra or over time to work from home and being in control of their time.
