Everything You Need To Know About Your Camping Trip And The Food You Eat

The best accessory to bring when going on a camping trip is a private label luggage. This is because this type of luggage will be able to help anyone get to transport their items especially if they are hiking. With the use of a telescoping handle system, it is now easy to go camping as there are a lot of ways the activity has been made easier.

One of the common problems in camping though is the food that should be brought to the campsite. This problem is shared by people who have never gone camping before. As a result, they think it is okay to take raw meat along with them. Sadly, this is not recommended as there are a lot of issues that can occur along with it.

The biggest issue that occurs when bringing raw meat in camping trips is the fact that it can get contamination. Raw meat needs to be stored in a certain temperature so that it does not expose itself to bacteria growth. But because there are a lot of hiking trips that do not bring a portable freezer, these campers expose meat to bacteria. It grows rapidly at temperatures above 140 F and below 40 F. Once this occurs, the meat is exposed to its Danger Zone. As a result, bacteria rapidly multiply and can easily reach a dangerous level in just a couple of hours.

Raw food is not a good idea to bring when camping as it is hard to keep them fresh. If there is no sufficient cold source, raw food can easily become rotten. This is why it is better to bring pre-cooked meats and even canned goods during camping trips. Meat can be cooked before leaving home and frozen. These can then be stored in an air tight container and brought to the campsite. When it comes to eating time, these foods can simply be heated so that they can be warm again.

As for the water to be used for washing and cooking some pasta dishes, it is a good idea to boil the water properly before using it first. This is if potable drinking water has not been brought to the campsite. Once the water is boiled, the microorganisms can be killed properly. It can then be used for washing dishes and even cooking food. In addition, it can be used for drinking coffee. Another option to boiling water is to make use of water filters and water purification tablets.

The safety of the people joining the camping trip needs to be observed at all times. Even with the food they eat, it is important to make sure that they eat safe foods that are free from any bacteria as these may cause some health problems. Water needs to be filtered properly as certain diseases can arise from poor practices. The importance of observing these can lead to the success of the camping trip. It can even make or break one person's experience in camping, especially if it is his first time.

Live Healthy By Dehydrating Raw Food

The dehydrator operates at temperatures between 95F-155F, by keeping the temperature low below 115F it will help ensure the preservation of the vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are in your food. The average cost of electricity used by the machine is about 4 - 5 an hour so you can run the dehydrator affordable 24 hours a day and it is very easy to clean.

Use yours to make simple but tasty foods such as:
- granola and granola bars
- vegetable/flax based breads, wraps and crackers
- nut loaf and pate
- raw vegan cookies or scones
- fruit leather
- everyone's favorite...apple and banana chips

Foods fully dried and crispy will normally last almost indefinitely. When I do my dried tomatoes I slice them thin and dry until they are crisp. Once moisture content is low bacteria and mould will not grow on them. It is important to dry, and then let cool for 10-20 minutes, before sealing in an airtight container.

Some great ideas of where and how to use your dried healthy foods are:
-For individuals who like to go camping or hiking regularly,
-For making your own rubs for meats or favourite spice combinations to have ready to use, or
-For giving a special gift basket to a friend...Birthdays and Christmas are just around the corner!

Whatever you decide to do, incorporating dehydrated foods into your life will provide many benefits to a healthier life. Now you can take great tasting healthy foods camping and hiking with you; it is a great way to add variety to your backpacking menu, save money, and eat a healthy diet. Putting those benefits aside, I have found this type of preserving of raw food helps with backpack volume reduction resulting in less weight and expended energy getting the food to camp!

Some manufacturers of dried meats and fruits douse their products with preservatives, artificial colors, and flavors. So why not prepare your own, my dehydrator has provided me with everything from simple recipes to full meals, which I found very helpful when starting out. The best part about having it all ready to go is you spend less time prepping food while camping. I have provided a quick check list of suggestions for preparing items before leaving home:

(1) Put just the needed ingredients for one meal at a time into plastic bags then all you have to do is add the liquid. Make sure to label them for example dried pasta, rice, trail mix 'of course you made this with your favorite nuts and fruits' and you can package these individually to put in your pockets during the day for quick pick-me-up snacks.
(2) Keep all dry ingredients you need for one recipe in its own plastic bag (like all the spices to make a soup or a spaghetti sauce)
(3) Here is a small list of essential dried items to keep in small containers to bring pizzazz to any meal.
- Onions
- Tomatoes
- Freshly dried herbs
- Red or orange peppers
- Garlic

Note: remember to soak the onions and tomatoes for an hour or so before using to plump them back up!

(4) Remove all packaging and repackage with cooking directions if necessary this will remove the bulk and let you carry more food.

Preparing raw foods ahead of time takes the guesswork out of camp cooking, and it will make backpacking food a lot more fun for the entire group. Use your imagination, carry a few extra tools, and you can enjoy some great recipes.

Start Your Own Natural Skin Care Business From Home

Eager to start your own Australian natural skin care business but unsure where to begin? Follow these step-by-step guidelines for creating your own beauty and skin care product range. Find your niche and create luxurious, pampering products, all from the comfort of your own home!

Product Development

Wat is your niche? What do you love? What are the special needs of your skin? What would thrill your family and friends? What will make your products stand out from your competitors?

You may already have the answers to these questions but, if not, use your fingertips to help define your vision for your skincare - search the internet for ideas!

The possibilities are endless - will you create a mother and baby range, mens skin care, teenage skin products? Will you use Australian native ingredients, botanicals, essential oils? Will you focus on natural or organic skincare or more on the treatments your products provide? Will you move into the exclusive market or more cost effective products?

Chances are, if you are ready to begin creating your own skincare, you already love something about the industry, so call on your strengths to create your special niche.

Choosing Your Ingredients

Consider your niche when choosing products - it will help to keep costs down and also stop impulse buys. If you are focusing on mature skin, for example, choose butter and cream type bases rather than lotions as they will suit your product requirements. If you are making skin care for mothers and babies, check the safety precautions of the items you're considering to ensure their appropriateness for new babies or pregnancy.

Australian sites selling bulk base products, raw materials and other skin care requirements will describe the qualities of each item, the types of products the raw ingredient is used in, and the percentage to be added to your base product. If you can't find the information you need, email them with a question - most are happy to help prospective customers - or, do your own research on the internet.

You can also find many lists of essential oils, hydrosols, extracts, raw materials, exfoliants, preservatives and more, along with a description of the qualities of the product and it uses, with basic internet searches.

At first, it would certainly be easier, and most probably less expensive, to source pre-made base body butters, lotions, gels and scrubs from suppliers, and add your own raw ingredients to these for your own specialised range. As a general rule, when adding additional raw materials to your base product, whether you have prepared it yourself or purchased it ready made, a guide for concentrations is -

Essential oils total - Eye area - 0.25% (5 drops per 100ml), Face - 0.25 - 1% (5 to 20 drops per 100ml), Body - 1-2% (20 to 40 drops per 100ml), Feet - 2% (40 drops per 100ml)

Other oils total (such as rosehip, evening primrose etc) -1-10%

Extracts total (calendula, cucumber etc extracted into glycerin) -1-6% per 100ml (1-6 ml)

Hydrosol total (floral waters) -1-10%

Exfoliants total (walnut shell, jojoba beads etc) -1-5% for face of fine ground exfoliant, 5-10% for body of mid to course ground exfoliant

Clays total - This will entirely depend on the purpose of your product. Small amounts (up to 3%) can be added to creams or cleansers to detoxify skin, or even to add colour to your product, and larger amounts will cause the product to thicken when applied, so better used for body wraps and facial masks which will be washed off when dried.

The list of additives for you to choose from is almost endless, so research those ingredients you believe will bring your users the most benefit, while being within your price range. If you are having trouble choosing additives, search for other skin care or beauty created in the area you're interested in, and see what they have chosen to use and how they have combined essential oils, extracts, powders, clays etc to create a specialised item.

While research is essential, ensure you do not actually copy another recipe or create a replica of an item for sale - all websites and retailers have copyright over their own products, so use your research to develop your own ideas and obtain your own loyal customers!

Most importantly, have fun creating your products, and enjoy learning how to start your own natural skin care business!
