Running a Business Like a Child, Part I

Isn't it crazy how almost everything in life can be compared to another idea and how they make the most complex concepts into the most simple? Well I, for one, love analogies, and I've started to ponder: how different is it to be running a business compared to raising your own child? Here's what I've picked up, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

1. Preparation in Running a Business
Being able to successfully raise a child is a wonderful feeling, but for most individuals, becoming a parent doesn't come overnight (that's right, people. Storks don't bring our babies). It takes months of preparation to find the best place to live, modify your home, purchase supplies, and whatever else it takes to make sure your baby gets as much love and attention it deserves. Same thing happens with running a business. The only way your creation can prevail is if you provide it with the best location.

You wouldn't want to place a grocery store right next to a manufacturing center, would you? I'd certainly hope not. Make your ideal spot as perfect as you can make it; never settle for a low quality environment. Make sure you have all the tools to prevent hazards and accidents, because the last thing you want to happen is having "uh-ohs" and realizing that you have nothing to clean it with (unless you can MacGyver a sanitary mission). Don't forget that this is yours. You worked for it, and its success relies on how well you treat it.

2. The Newborn Years of Running a Business
Well, it's finally here. Your beautiful little baby is now part of your family household. This is the best thing that's ever happened to you, and you just can't wait to play with them and snuggle with them and give them lots and lots of [BLEH]... love. Hundreds of diapers, continuous feedings, and multiple sleepless nights come to pass, and it's quite the struggle at first. Boy, does it pay off though. Suddenly, they're smiling, laughing, using mobile skills, and more. You wouldn't trade in those frustrating evenings and vomit-infested shirts for the world. Now let's take that and apply those metaphors with your brand new store.

Oh, how glorious it is to have so many customers, and you just can't wait to expand and upgrade and fill the safe with lots and lots of [CRASH] "Clean up on isle 2!"... cash. Don't be surprised if the first few months, or even years, become overwhelming. Just remember to maintain patience and provide the best service you can muster, and your customers will always appreciate it. This will pay off, too. Eventually, your employees are becoming more efficient, service is spot-on, and you start to feel as if your business is starting to run itself. After time, all those lunch hour nightmares, clumsy casualties, and really high-maintenance purchasers will become nothing but a little bump on the road on your trip to success.

I will post more of these as the days go by, but for now, if you would like to dab your feet in an opportunity with a business you can develop at home, visit the link in the resource box for your chance to receive a 7 part course on how you can start rel=nofollow running a business.

Stay at Home Moms and Boredom: The 3 Components to Running an Exciting Christian Online Business

Stay at home moms and boredom laden days are experiences that many moms encounter. Many women try to start a home business to bring some excitement back into their life. I do not know of a more noble job than a mom raising her children. However, many women are looking for another outlet to make money and stimulate other interests that they have. There are 3 key things that must take place if you want to find a profitable home business.

The 3 Components to Running an Exciting Christian Online Business

Interview Businesses

Search the internet for different online businesses. Look for affiliates that are currently involved in an internet company. Ask them if the company has training for people, that want to start an internet business. Ask them what their experience has been with the company they are involved in. Get them to explain the pros and cons of the company they are associated with. Check to see what different affiliates are doing within the company to make money. Decide if the things that they are doing would be interesting to you.

Find a Mentor

This is extremely important. Have you ever tried to start something without help? A mentor will be able to share tips and strategies on how to market. A teacher can help you with the learning curve. A good instructor will help you avoid some of the mistakes and pitfalls that they encountered when they started. Select someone you seem to resonate with. It might be someone, that you have a religious, personal or interest based connection with. Pick a mentor that seems to have a financial interest in helping you. This is not a bad thing. If you think about it, wouldn't you rather work with a mentor that has a lot to gain by your performance. If a trainer makes money every time you do, the incentive will be much greater to help you.

Large Commissions

Not all online companies are designed the same. Determine the pay structure for the company you are thinking about working for. Many companies pay hundreds of dollars in commissions for each sale. Some Multi Level Marketing companies have a good residual income plan. However, you many times have to sign up hundreds or thousands of individuals until any great residual income is realized. I prefer the upfront commissions received as an affiliate. If an individual signs up for the business opportunity and pays to join the company you receive a portion of that fee as a commission. This can be quite valuable to know. At some point, if they drop from the company you will already have received a commission. The mentor's efforts were not wasted, because they received a commission in the beginning. Many Multi Level Companies require you to make a mandatory minimum amount of sales each month to receive bonuses. Most affiliate programs have no minimum monthly requirements that need to be met. You can move as slow or fast as you want to on a monthly basis.

I feel that interviewing businesses, finding a good mentor and selecting companies that pay large commissions are an essential key to your success.

5 Ways To Get Your Home Business Up And Running Smoothly

Home businesses are often times very tough to get up and running and the reason is because having something out of your home means you can sleep in, watch T.V., and even stop whenever you want because nobody is telling you what to do. If you find it tough to get started and stay motivated then you need to learn and remember these 5 ways to get your home business up and running smoothly.

Create an office environment - One of the most important parts of running a home based business is the fact that you have your own office environment. If you think you can work from the kitchen table and be the most efficient you are wrong. You need your own personal space to handle all your work.

Eliminate distractions - Having an office means that you have your own place to work and the reason why you need this is so you can eliminate distractions. Most people don't understand how distractions can hurt you but they can and will very much. Just do yourself a favor and eliminate distractions inside the office such as phone usage and internet usage.

Don't quit - One of the biggest things you will have to understand is that once you quit a business your odds of doing another one are considerably lower. Make sure you give it everything you have and that way you won't regret things later on.

Get help - If you don't know how to do something you really need to get some help. Also if you don't have time to do a certain task then hire it out and get help that way. Just whatever you do, never try to do too much and quit because you are overwhelmed.

Have a plan - The first thing that you will need that I decided to leave for the end is having a plan. Most people don't have a plan or method to what they plan on doing and that is why most of them fail miserably. Do yourself a favor and create a simple plan with things such as strategies, techniques, and your market.

The last thing I want to leave you with is that not everyone will be able to get a home business up and running successfully and because of that you should not worry if you find it hard at first. Just know that after the hard part is when you will see all the results of your hard work. If you would like to see what many people are doing from home then click here and see many different rel=nofollow [http://www.dormroomcash.com]ideas to make money from home.

How To Get A Membership Website Up And Running

If you are in a niche market that gives the readers how to articles or solutions to problems on a timely basis then you could possibly have a membership site. You have options to create this. You can create your membership website from scratch and have a web master handle the HTML details or use a WordPress platform which will provide you with the same requirements with the appropriate plug-ins. All that you have to do is provide enough information to get some momentum from your feedback.

It is pretty easy to get a membership site up and running by using the most current site creation tools. One has to ensure that there is a solid plan and clear goal in mind. With that course of action in mind the site creation can begin. The truth is that you may not be satisfied with it in the beginning but once you launch you will realize that you can continue to build on your goal.

One thing that is very important is membership retention. Usually a site is able to hold a persons attention for about 3 months. What you will have to do to ensure that the customers stick around is to provide the content that they need. A little surplus information from time to time would not hurt either.

Some persons may wonder what all the excitement is about when it comes to membership websites. As a means of providing recurring income it is a positive business venture. In fact some persons consider it to be a goldmine as you have the opportunity to earn more than just the membership income. You are also able to provide other services for a cost once you comprehend the makeup and profiles of your members.

With this type of site you can promote active membership which in turn provides great SEO for the website. The overall benefit of running a membership site provides an easy way to distribute training and e-learning. It also affords you the opportunity to respond to client questions around the clock. You can receive automatic payments for services rendered and have incorporated customer reports. You are able to communicate with your members regularly via email. Last but not least you can benefit even more by having a partner or affiliate program in place. All in all it is a great online business to have and not as stressful to setup and maintain once you have the correct tools.

Is It Easy Working From Home?

I've been totally working from home for the past 9 months, it has gone very quickly and it has been hard at times. I now have my own room/office which makes it so much easier.

My main problem is the distractions of family, my daughters and grandchildren. Also one of my businesses is a bit spasmodic, regular clients that have irregular days. So I can get myself all organised to do certain things the next day but then have to rearrange my plans.

I have just sold that business however so am looking forward to much more of an organised timetable, with still plenty of flexible time for my family.

Another problem about working from home, is the inconsistent income. It takes a while to get into the swing of not getting a certain sum of money every week, fortnight or month.

Gradually over time it does build up, and something I have just started is going to provide residual income in ever increasing amounts over time. Without putting in extra work and hours.
My other 2 businesses chug along nicely providing the bread and butter income for the basics. As much as I miss the regular income sometimes I don't miss the lack of freedom and the stress of having to be somewhere I don't want to be.

My other problem about working from home is that any mess, dishes, or odd job is in my face. There are days I have to admit when the procrastination meter is running high that the house ends up looking brilliant but no work gets done.

Mind you the next day there are no excuses and I feel clear to focus. But discipline is essential, at least until you get things up and running.

Getting your own business up and going can be a bit like getting a truck moving. Have you ever seen a big tip truck, a digger in the back and a trailer hooked up with a bobcat or some other heavy machinery. The truck gets stopped at a red light at the bottom of the hill, not a huge hill and not a really steep hill. But a slow steady climb anyway.

Well the light turns green and it seems at first that the truck isn't even moving, but slowly it inches forward, then the driver changes gears, it seems to stop, it jerks forward a little then starts it's slow, very slow climb up the hill. As you watch is gathers momentum as it climbs higher and higher, not moving quickly but it is moving slightly faster by the time it reaches the top of the hill. Then it's fine, doesn't matter if it's a downhill slope on the other side or the road goes out straight the truck is off and running at the speed limit.

Well at this point I'm about 3/4 of the way up the hill and feeling strong. It's a great feeling and there is no way I would ever work as an employee again. http://www.LynsEcoSolutions.com

How to Keep Your Online Business Up and Running

People tend to complain about the amount of work that it takes to get an online business up and running successfully.

Getting the website up and running takes an incredible amount of work and concentration. From getting the content that you envision to creating the overall look and feel of the site takes a lot of time, requires patience, and you need to do a lot of testing and modifying along the way.

Believe it or not, you do not need a web page to have an online business. There are many ways to carve a niche in the online marketplace, but not all of them require that you set up and maintain a website.

The truth is that you can use the internet as a simple enhancement to other ways of doing business without the hassle of setting up a website.

Having great and successful ideas are not always limited to financial resources, and there are ways that you can have a successful business online simply by using your email address.

If you just have an email account to start with, consider how you can make contact with people and showcase your product or service. One great way to accomplish this is through a newsletter.

Newsletters are great ways to share updates, new news, and highlight products and services that you wish to give to others. You can send them out once a week or once a month, but they are great ways to communicate as well as advertise what you do.

The last thing you want to become is a spammer, so make sure to get permission before you start emailing people your stuff. This way, you will minimize complaints, and enhance your reputation at the same time.

Newsletters save time and money while introducing yourself to potential clients and curious interested parties. Not only that, but since they are pretty much free to compose and send out, your pocketbook will be happy with your selected method of communication.

Do you have a lot of purse? It's time you consider getting a [http://purseholder.net]purse holder or a [http://purseholder.net/purse-organizer-insert/]purse organizer insert.

Incorporating Work With Pleasure

As like most people, I wear many hats - Wife, Internet Marketer, Restaurant Owner, mother of our kitty, etc. Between shipping, marketing, paying bills (household and business), other work at the restaurant and just general keeping up the house - life gets interesting - and busy! I'm also an avid runner - and will always make time to do that.

Working from home is great - and I highly recommend it for everyone! But, sometimes I feel like I'm here at my work place - I need to be working. It's easy to think that you need to be working all your waking hours.

I used to feel guilty about taking time out to run - even though it is what keeps me sane. And some of my best ideas, answers to problems, etc, have come from my running time. But, I still felt that there were so many things I needed to be doing. Listening to webinar trainings was one of them.

Webinars that I need to listen to can be a challenge with my schedule. Thanks goodness for the recorded replays! I download these to my iPod and listen to them on the run. When I'm doing an hour+ run, webinars make the time fly by. I'm working out my body and my mind. I'm sure they don't know it - but every day I'm running with Connie Ragen Green, Denise Wakeman or Lisa Suttora.

This has been great for me. I can take time out to do my longer runs - and no longer feel guilty about it. I'm learning at the same time.

3 Tips to Working Effectively

When it comes to Home Businesses especially Online Based Businesses running them no longer is an issue of waking up early or getting things done by a certain time it is an issue of actually getting them done at all. It's so easy to wake up, take a shower, eat breakfast, do the dishes and sit down at the computer but when the mail checking, Facebooking and YouTubing starts a day can very quickly disappear without a single bit of advertising actually being done.

Here are 5 tips to Keep You On Track:

1. Have a Daily Plan:

If You don't have a schedule written down of all the things You need to do in a day for Your Business then get down to it. Simply write down the 3 - 5 things that must be done daily without fail to ensure the up-keep of Your Business. When Your business has grown and You realize that some of these things are taking Your time away from activities that You know could grow Your Business further, delegate the responsibilities to a person who You hire for the specific task(s).

If for example You write articles everyday and realize that Your time would be better spent simply hire someone fresh out of University who understands the topics You cover and would like a part-time job while they look for permanent work. You will be helping an Individual looking for Work and You get to Grow Your Business.

2. Maximize Efficiency:

Having made this plan when You start on a task block everything out. Switch off the phone, log off Facebook, turn off the t.v, lock the door to Your Office, make sure that every distraction is out of the way. The fact is that many people mistake movement for progress. They will sit at their computers pretending to do work so that the boss will assume they are working. This is because they are being paid by the hour and not for their ability to get things done. You on the other hand are being paid by Your ability to get the job done and done well.

The point of this is that You should 'get in, get it done and get out'. Though it is Beautiful running Our Businesses from Home We still have shows We like to watch, friends We love talking to and stores to go shopping at so do what's on the list and move on to the fun!

3. Take a Break:

The fact that You're running Your own Business means You get to pick Your own hours. You don't have to work like people who are in offices. Designate breaks for Yourself at those times when You feel taking half an hour to relax would help You work better.

Also when it comes to lunch take a proper hour long break where You can actually sit and enjoy the food You're eating. Running down to the food court to inhale a sandwich and back up to the office are the days of old. Now sit down with a friend over a nice Home cooked meal or plate at Your favorite restaurant.

Lastly TAKE THE WEEKEND OFF. I know how tempting it is to work on Saturday and Sunday for those few more sales or more visitors but I assure it's just not worth it. We started these Businesses to Be free of the madness, to gain that freedom We so desired so why chain Yourself yet again?

Following these 3 tips I've become more Productive and Successful than I've Ever Been. On top of this I have more time off and am way Happier. Here's Me Wishing You a Beautiful Day and All The Success In The World. Thank You For Your Time.

First of all if you have not already done so, the internet really can be your best friend when it comes to finding new customers. Having a website gets you worldwide exposure in just a matter of minutes.
