6 Sigma

A well known business strategy is known as the 6 Sigma which has a vast number of applications in the industrial sector. This strategy helps in improving the performance of the output process by highlighting the weak points in the manufacturing process and other related business processes. Using different types of methods including quality management and statistical methods the 6 sigma helps in drafting a specialized infrastructure for the members of the organization. The six sigma project follows a specific set of rules and its main purpose is the reduction of cost and maximization of profits. The six sigma strategy involves the statistical modeling of processes involving manufacturing. The Six Sigma ensures that 99.9% of the products manufactured are free from all sorts of defects.

The main theory of Six Sigma

The Six Sigma originates from the field of statistics and the historical perspective suggests that it was used to point out to the ability of manufacturing large quantities of a certain product within specification. Basically there are certain points that outline the process of the Six Sigma. These points include:

**To achieve the maximum productivity in the form of output continuous efforts are required to keep the process results stable and predictable. This is essential for the success of a business.

**The process of manufacturing and other business process can be easily measured, analyzed and improved to obtain the most efficient productivity.

**To achieve the maximum quality improvement every member of the organization should work with full commitment. This is most important for the higher management and will result in success of the business.

Methods involved in Six Sigma

The Six Sigma involves the use of two methods taken from Deming's Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle. These methods are known as DMAIC (used to improve existent business project) and DMADV (involves creating new process design). Both of these methods further involve five phases which explain the basis of these methods.

The five phases of DMAIC include:

 Define
 Measure
 Analyze
 Improve
 Control

The five phases of DMADV include:

 Define
 Measure
 Analyze
 Design
 Verify

These phases define the two methods involves in the Six Sigma business strategy. There is a wide use of management tools which are used during the implementation of these two methods including 5 Whys, Cost benefit analysis, regression analysis, histograms, Analysis of variance, root cause analysis, run charts and many other statistical processes.

Six Sigma Implementation Roles

The process also defines the roles of each member of the organization including the upper and lower management and emphasizes on that fact that each member has to perform a certain role to contribute to the success of the business. The several key roles include:

 Executive Leadership
 Champions
 Master Black Belts
 Black Belts
 Green belts

Certain organizations may use extra colors for defining the key roles of other specific employees contributing to the success of the business.

The Six Sigma also went through criticism which include role of consultants, arbiter standards, 1.5 Sigma Shift and some other aspects. The Six Sigma can help in creating a more efficient output status of a business and the implementation of this process solely differs from business to business.

Careers in Technology - Working at Home in IT Services

There are so many different technology careers available today, and each one brings something different for those who seek it. Regarding professional positions like technology jobs, there is a lot of training that is usually needed for the positions. However, this training can be obtained both on the job and through an education before getting the job. One thing that the technology industry has to offer is the ability to allow people to work from home and to create a world where all industries can do the same.

When you work at home in the Information Technology industry, your job title could be just about anything that you want it to be. It doesn't matter if you're looking for programming jobs, internet customer service positions, or even networking and IT setup positions. The internet has made a wealth of jobs available to a variety of people and there is no end to the options that you have in choosing your professional position. You can work from home as an independent contractor for a variety of companies, a full-time employee with some, or even by starting your own technology-based business that you operate out of your home office.

Careers these days are fleeting at best, and can prove to be difficult to find out in the job world. However, if you take the time to check out all of the options that you have, you'll likely realize that a work at home position might be exactly what you have been looking for. You can generally set your own hours or choose the hours that work best for you, take days off or work only on days when you want, and even choose to work a job out of the home while having a work at home position on the side. The options are nearly endless, and it's up to you to decide what works best for you.

Technology keeps on growing and changing, and is doing everything that it can to change the way that the world works. If you take the time to check out all of the options that you have, you should be more than able to find a position that suits your needs. Sometimes, working at home is not the best solution for everyone, but it can prove to be a fruitful career choice for those who can make the most of it. Remember that you'll need to be driven to succeed and motivated to make yourself work, though, because you don't get paid just for punching the clock when you work at home.

Working From Home - Why Work From Home?

Working from home has several advantages and disadvantages, but knowing these pros and cons in advance will allow you to balance the way you work and live to your benefit.

There are several different areas of employment that people find online. Popular fields include web development, computer science and programming, writing and content creation, graphic design, and home business. Each of these areas has its own prerequisite skills and knowledge, but some jobs require little to no training beforehand and will allow you to get your foot in the industry's door. Generally, having a sound understanding of how to use a computer and the internet is enough to get you started in some areas, and some companies will help teach you the various skills needed to start working.

Finding a job online is often a matter of assessing the skills you have or want to learn, and then locating a database, job search, or other resource with which to look at job listings. The internet is rich with various tools you can use to find the job of your choice. For example, a freelance writing database will generally list jobs from several different websites in a variety of fields, from article writing to blogging to copy editing. Finding the right resource for the type of job you want, checking it relatively frequently, and matching your skill level to the type of projects you apply for will help you find work and build a portfolio.

If you want to start a home business, there are lots of opportunities to do so on the web. Many websites have positions open for affiliate marketers, which allow independent citizens to purchase, market, and sell products for another company at a commission. There are lots of different marketing and business structures which each offer their own pros and cons, but many of them require little commitment and allow independent business owners to choose which will work best for them.

The internet is an excellent place to take advantage of a wide array of opportunities, and with literally thousands of new job openings becoming available worldwide every day, it's no wonder many people turn to the world wide web when they're looking for a way to work from home.

Telecommuting Careers - The New Office Jobs

Office jobs were once something that many people sought, either through entry-level positions or through the process of a college education. Either way, people did whatever it took to make the most of their careers, and office jobs in corporate America were easy to find. However, there are fewer offices in need of people these days, as many are streamlining their businesses or have the full staff that they need. Many companies don't have the overhead to afford such a full staff like they might have had in the past, which is why they look to the home office for opportunities. Telecommuting careers are at an all-time high, both with traditional companies and with freelance positions, and this is likely to remain the same for some time to come.

Telecommuting careers allow people to perform their jobs from home, saving companies money by not having to have a dedicated office space for those who work from home. It can also save companies money when they hire freelance employees on a contract basis. That way, they aren't on the actual payroll and can be paid differently than everyone else. Plus, the company doesn't have to offer them benefits because they are a contract employee. The employee can work from home on his or her own and is responsible for paying their own taxes. This is one of the many reasons that a lot of companies are turning to telecommuting as a means of hiring employees.

If you are considering telecommuting careers, you'll need to determine where you stand. Are you looking to turn your current career into a telecommuting position or are you in need of a whole new position altogether? It's completely up to you, which gives you the chance to take hold of your career future and do what works best for you. Because of their remote nature, telecommuting careers are usually a little more stable which surprises many people. You would think that these positions are less stable because you don't actually work FOR a company, but in reality, they're saving money with your services versus having a full-time employee on staff. Therefore, when money is an issue, they'll generally keep the service that is costing them less rather than the employee that's a part of the company directly.

There are many advantages to telecommuting careers. Not only do you get the convenience of working from home, but you'll also be able to make a decent living and have a secure job that you enjoy. If you're not very self-focused or task-oriented, you might not be suited for working at home. However, if you have what it takes to make yourself get up and work every day, then a telecommuting career might be just what you've always needed.

Keep Your Foot in the Door - Ways Stay at Home Parents Can Stay in the Workforce

Once a child enters your life, all your priorities change. This includes your career priorities. Many parents, both mothers and fathers, decide to take time off work and focus on being a stay at home parent. Although they enjoy this immensely, many parents worry about how they will find a job once their little one is in school. They know they are losing years of working experience, and they are fine with that because it is for their child's sake. However, there are ways that stay at home parents can keep your foot in the door while keeping your children at the same time. Not only will you keep your working experience current and relevant, you also will feel as if you are contributing to the business world.

One way you can keep your foot in the door as a stay at home parent is by doing online work. There are so many job opportunities online these days that nearly any job can be done that way. You will not even have to change your career to do this. This is a great opportunity because many companies give you the option of choosing how many or how few hours you will work. This is great for stay at home parents because they can decide to work a few hours each day or just a few hours each week. Regardless of how few hours you choose, you still will be keeping your experience relevant.

Another way you can keep your foot in the door and still stay at home with your children is by freelancing. There are a lot more opportunities in freelancing these days than there were even five years ago, so it will be easier to find a job this way. Like the online work, you will be able to decide how often you will work. The great thing with the freelancing is that, once you decide to go back to work, you have the option of turning your freelancing into a full time job. You might find that you like it better than your previous job. It also will be convenient because you already know what to do so you do not have to go through weeks of training.

You might also find that, when you are searching for online or freelancing opportunities, you find a job in a completely new field. You are not limited to staying in the same field if you would rather challenge yourself to something new. Just because you chose to stay at home with your children, does not mean that you cannot keep your foot in the door.

Work at Home - Everyone Else is Doing it, and Here's Why

The hottest job market right now is the home-based career industry. Many people are striking out on their own because they want something better out of life. Some do it because they cannot trust another company to look out for their family's financial security, while others do it simply because it offers more freedom and the ability to do what makes them happy. Ultimately, it doesn't matter why you work at home or what type of business you work in, as long as you make the most of it. Why are home-based positions suddenly so popular, though? Here are a few ideas.

Home based jobs are much more accessible these days thanks to the internet. There are so many different job opportunities online that it's not hard to find one that suits you best. You can start your own business, get into internet marketing, or even work as a freelance employee for any number of companies providing a variety of services to people. The online world is actually the only one that continues to grow despite the economic crunch that has been going on for the past year or two. Working at home is much more affordable for many companies to offer because it can cut their overhead costs. In an attempt to save business, many companies have even started giving employees one day or two days a week where they work at home and don't report to the office.

If you're looking for a whole new career or you want to start your own online business, there are many things to consider. You will need to find a company that is reputable and that can help you to get started, no matter whether you are working for them or on your own. You should check out success stories and other people's journeys to working from home so that you can emulate their process. By doing what others do, you will succeed as they have succeeded. And why not use the model that has been created instead of trying to create your own when it isn't necessary?

The best thing about working from home is that you don't need any special skills per se. As long as you are motivated to succeed, able and willing to do the work, and familiar with the computer, your home based career options are nearly endless. Just be very careful in choosing opportunities because there are so many out there that scams and schemes can often slip through the cracks.

Calling All Freelancers - Working at Home is the New 9 to 5

There are so many great job opportunities for those who want to work from home. Many people turn to the work at home industry after their traditional jobs have failed them, and many more do it as a way to escape from the grips of working for someone else for a living. When you work for yourself, you can create your own business, and alternatively, you can work as a freelance employee for someone else, all the while enjoying many more freedoms than you would get from the typical office job. Many companies are turning to this type of hiring because it cuts both their expenses and overhead, while allowing them to have the staff that they need.

If you're considering a career working from home as a freelance employee, you need to be prepared. There are a lot of things to think about, including what industry you will want to be working in. Perhaps you have simply talked to your boss and have come to the conclusion that you can work from home, while maintaining your current position. If this is the case, you will have much less to do when it comes to setting up your freelance business. If, however, you are one of the thousands of people who are starting a whole new career in a new industry, there is a lot that needs to be considered.

First, think about your skills. What jobs are you good at, and what do you like to do? Being your own boss can be more difficult than it seems even without having to force yourself to work on a job that you hate. Find a position that you like and excites you, and going to work each day will be much easier. If there is something that you have always wanted to do, give it a try. Thanks to the internet, there is no shortage of opportunities for freelance employees of all kinds. From virtual assistants to marketing writers and more, there is certainly something for just about everyone.

Lower overhead, fewer hassles, and the ability to hire the best, regardless of location, are just a few of the reasons that businesses are becoming more eager to hire freelance employees rather than full-time staff for their business. The internet has changed the ways of the working world, and has created so many more great opportunities in its wake that people can enjoy, no matter what they're looking for. If you really want to make the most of your career, go find a freelance industry that you can excel in. It doesn't matter whether you choose sales, IT services, construction, office positions, or even writing jobs, because there is something out there for just about everyone in the world of freelance work.
