Your driver to work from home may be financial, but unless you are doing something you enjoy you will soon burn out. To make money at home online can be quite a solitary occupation, without the stimulation of others around you. So, unless you are doing something that really motivates you and you find engaging, it will be difficult to get through the difficult times, which you will have, if it is not something that you have a passion for.

Golden Rule No 3: Find a Mastermind group.

Because working at home is a solitary occupation you do need to find like minded people who you can share your thoughts and difficulties with, and who come together to brainstorm ideas to grow your business. These groups are everywhere so you just have to find them - and they meet either in person or online. Trust me, you will need this. I have always had my own version of a mastermind group - don't be put off by that title, it is simply a group of people that have similar needs and are willing to share their experiences.

Golden Rule No 4: Determine your resources

Simply decide what resources you will require to run the business. For example, you will need the internet with a decent connection, email, an online shopping cart if you are selling products, and an online payment process like PayPal or something similar. If you are building an email list then you will need to source your auto responder provider like Get Response or Aweber. For your website you will need a domain name and a hosting provider. So, be clear about whatever resources you need.

Golden Rule No 5: Make a plan

I am not going to harp on this - any readers of mine know how passionate I am about planning. The old adage is true - if you fail to plan, you plan to fail! I will not elaborate on this, but it is absolutely critical that you make a clear plan, particularly for your first year, so that you can track your progress and ensure that you have not missed out on anything critical.

3 Ways to Face the Frustration of Growing Your Home Business

Perhaps it's more that you need to do something you haven't considered to help your home business grow. Some surprising things can help.

1. Take a break.

When you're at your most frustrated is often when you most need to take a break from things. I don't mean taking a break of several days, a week or anything, unless that's what you really need. Just take some time to get your thoughts away from the stresses and do something else.

It's very common to have stress slow you down when you work. Taking a break, even just 10 minutes or so can get your mind off work and give it a rest. You may find that you get better ideas after a break.

You should be taking several short breaks a day. There are good reasons why employers are legally required to allow employees to take breaks throughout the day. Give yourself the same courtesy.

You can use your breaks in a few ways. You can read something unrelated to work. Take a walk. Do some exercise. Watch a favorite show. Play with the kids or pets. Just make sure that it's something to ease the stress and get your mind off work for a while.

2. Work somewhere else.

If you have a laptop, this can be pretty easy. Find a new place to work and see if it helps your productivity or gives you new ideas. A good Wi-Fi connection may be nice, but you can always just type into your word processor if there's no internet connection available. Not that you have to leave your home. Try working in the back yard or a different room of the house. Just make sure there aren't too many distractions.

If you don't have a laptop, don't feel confined to your desktop computer. Grab a pen and paper and find a place to work with them. You don't have to have a computer for everything you do for your business even if it's entirely online.

3. Talk it out.

When things aren't going quite right, don't hold it in. Talk to someone about it.

They don't have to know too much about what you're trying to do to be a good listener and sometimes come up with helpful ideas. My husband has a general notion of what I do, but doesn't understand the specifics. He can still listen when something's frustrating me, and whether or not he comes up with useful suggestions, he has a different perspective.

None of these ideas are going to do specific things to help your business grow. They won't get you x new leads or subscribers or earn you a particular amount of money. That's all up to you. What they may help you do is to keep things moving and get away from the frustration that's making your life more difficult.

- niche
- auto responder
- right mindset

Now you probably think: "That all sounds obvious, tell me something I do not know", but between you and me, a lot of people do NOT know this - I did not know, at least not at first.

So what do all these words mean?

The domain name is the name of your website, while the hosting account is needed for having your website published on the worldwide web. You will need a website to promote the niche you will be working in. This does not mean the site has to be fancy - a simple one-page-site can be enough.

Now, the niche is something different and deciding what niche you want to be in, is something you might think through very well. First find a market that spends money, then what people want within that market, the niche, and give it to them. If you do not have your own product to sell, you can become an affiliate. An affiliate is nothing more than someone selling other peoples products and getting a percentage of the price for doing that.

My advice to you is not trying to work in too many niches and sticking to those you actually like yourself.

You will be needing an auto responder for building your list. And, this can not be said often enough: The money is made in the list!

It all comes down to people coming to your website and signing up to your list. We often do that by giving away Free Products to get people signing up. Once having a list, promote to your list. I know there are other techniques, but I think this is the best way.
