Pros and Cons of Using the Email Newsletter

Email newsletters have continued to grow in leaps and bounds. And their widespread use only goes to show that the newsletter has several benefits for internet businesses. But email newsletters have their limitations and disadvantages too. Thus, every budding internet entrepreneur must be careful to weigh both pros and cons before they plunge headlong into using a newsletter.

The Pros

First off, the newsletter is a great means of communication. It is a simple way for businesses to generate rapport with new and existing clients. Through a newsletter, the online entrepreneur creates an avenue to exchange ideas with customers and get web traffic.

Another advantage derived from the newsletter is regular contact. By its very nature, a newsletter has a predefined frequency - whether it is weekly, fortnightly or monthly. This regularity ensures that the interaction with subscribers is ongoing, consistent and long term.

The newsletter opens up avenues for networking. Some of the subscribers to a newsletter may not necessarily be clients. They could be potential business partners or websites that have an interest in a similar type of product. The newsletter could eventually lay the ground work for collaboration.

An email newsletter is easy to disseminate. Once the newsletter is ready, it only takes a click of a button to make it available to the recipients in a matter of seconds. Compare this with print newsletters that have to be sent through postal mail and may take days or weeks to get to all subscribers.

In addition, the cost of an email newsletter is cheaper than a print newsletter. Also, and with today's automatic emailing systems, one need not send the newsletter manually - all that is required is inputting the newsletter then indicating the date and time the email should be sent.

The Cons

Being trapped in a rigid schedule - Once a business commits to subscribers that they can expect the newsletter every week, two weeks or month, the business is under obligation to fulfil this commitment. This can be tiresome, especially if the business is understaffed and cannot commit the time required each time for research and writing the content.

Space in another downside. A business may want to communicate certain information in the newsletter but the newsletter can only be so long. A long newsletter is unlikely to be read in its entirety.

There is no guarantee that the recipients of the email newsletter will read it. People will find it easier to delete an email newsletter before they read it than they would a print newsletter. However, auto responders can provide statistics on the subscribers that have read the email and those that have not and help online entrepreneurs make changes to the newsletter.

Spam is another major challenge of email newsletter. Email servers often mark newsletters as spam especially if recipients of the newsletter flag the mails as spam. That means the newsletter will not reach the intended recipient and hence this is considered as a loss in web traffic.

Your Email Provider May Be Protecting You

People are looking for a way to earn money on the internet through online business. While doing so, they begin to receive hundreds of emails. With so many scam emails being sent to unsuspecting and innocent potential victims, email providers are taking measures to help protect their clients. They regularly move to the spam email inbox any emails that the service deems to be from someone you may not know and which is likely spam.

Although most legitimate companies vehemently insist that their distributors and representatives are not allowed to use spam, it still gets through. People working in home based businesses who are trying to get customers and prospects often buy contacts from email lists. These are supposedly people who have asked for information on earning money from home. However, most would not like their email addresses being sold to other people. There is no stopping it, however, and spam emails keep circulating.

Often spam inboxes contain more emails that the personal emails a person receives in a day. While most people probably simply delete the spam without looking at it, there are occasionally personal emails which end up in the spam inbox because the computer thinks it is from an unknown person.

It is interesting once in a while to check the spam inbox to see if there is anything of value there. There are probably thousands of emails which are inadvertently deleted because they are mistakenly put into the spam. It does help to have a spam filter working to remove most of the unwanted emails from the inbox. The spam filters provided by email companies is one way that they are trying to protect the customer (whether with a paid service or not).

In checking through the spam inbox one day, I noticed an email from China. I immediately knew it was a scam and was glad that it ended up in the spam inbox. However, there was something else that the email provider had done to try and help the person receiving the email.

Across the top of the email outlined in a bright red background was the following notice: WARNING! This message my not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information.

This warning message should be a huge red flag to quickly discard this email. If any links are provided, they could easily infect your computer. If you respond to the email, they may be able to obtain information from which they will immediately set to work to cheat you out of money.

The dishonest deals persist from around the world. Be careful to resist the temptation to respond and find out more about any so called opportunity to get money from them.

The Signs To Watch Out For in Determining a Fake Employer

With the help of the internet, we are now able to add a little income to our growing list of expenses day in and day out. So, it is clear that working over the internet is one way of solving our financial problems. And although it has some advantages, the disadvantages of working online jobs can overwhelm the benefits. Here are some of the things that you need to be aware of before you start working.

One of the main red flags in finding out if you are working for a scammer is when he wants you to purchase a software that will help you work a lot faster. If he does this, chances are, he is using you to purchase his own software.

Spamming emails can also be considered a red flag for your job. When your client wants you send spam emails to people, there is a likelihood that you will not be paid for that job. Ask yourself, how can sending spam emails to a lot of people earn you money?

Always have the guts to ask your client about his business and everything surrounding it. If he is unable to give you direct answers to your questions, he is likely hiding something from you and it is not a good sign. Probe a bit more and ask others if they have worked with this client before.

When you are hired, always ask your client about payment transactions and when the payment will be made. If he dodges these questions, chances are he is most likely unable to pay for the job. Why in the world would you be working for someone who does not want to talk about payment?

Warning
When your job is too easy and your client promises you lots of money, chances are, it is a scam. It is a too good to be true situation. There is no job in this world that is very easy and yet pays so much money.

If you receive emails from potential clients and you end up receiving them almost everyday and the entire email looks the same, the best thing to do about this is to block this person since it is likely a spam ad email.

The last thing you should remember especially for those who are working as a writer is to choose the right client who is able to understand english and can write english without grammar problems.

Identifying A Fake Employer

The internet has provided us with wonderful things that we can even earn money by working as a virtual assistant or a virtual secretary. Sometimes, when we love to write, we can work as a writer for several businessmen over the internet. But, there are things you should know first before you jump in the bandwagon.

If your client wants you to buy a software from them or in any website he suggests, you should take a pass on this. Chances are, they likely own the software and would want to buy the thing from you. If your client is sincere and is authentic, he would provide you with the software for you to work with.

There will be some offers from different clients that tells you to email something to different people and they tell you that this will help you earn a lot of money. Bottomline is this is a scam. No one can earn money through sending email to a lot of people.

The best thing you can do to prevent yourself from working with people who want to cash in on you is to ask questions every now and then. If your client cannot answer most of your questions, it only means that he is hiding something and that should tell you to get out of the job as quickly as possible.

If your client does not want to talk about payment methods and transactions and would want you to work immediately because he has a deadline to meet, the thing is, he is likely not interested in paying you. He is a lot interested in the results and undermine the payment.

When your client tells you that the job is the easiest thing you can do and you earn a bunch of dollars for every click you make, this is downright impossible. There is no such thing as making a hundred dollars per click.

Even though you have left your email address at your profile for other clients to email you, but when you receive emails that introduce a potential client and seems to be a spam mail. Chances are, it is a spam email. Delete it.

The last red flag you need to watch out for especially for writing jobs is when your client emails you and you cannot even understand one little bit of what he is saying. That means you just might not be fit for this type of job.

Working Online From Home: What to Avoid

There are any great money making opportunities on the internet; there is also many scammers that you need to look out for. Scammers will often target unsuspecting victims searching the internet for an online job they can perform from home.

Some of these scams are so clever that even the most savvy internet user can be scammed. With a little basic knowledge you will increase your chances of seeing through the scams and landing a real online job.

Anyone Chasing Unrealistic Dreams?

Some sites make ridiculous promises about the amount of money you will make from them; be suspicious of them. Look out for phrases such as; "make a 6 figure income in just five minutes a week", and "make big bucks fast." If something on the internet sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Always check a website's credentials before you become involved with them. You should find out how long they have been around and check they have their contact details listed. Making their personal information public should be no problem to a legitimate website.

If a site is asking for a security deposit or a membership fee, be wary. They might be a trap. You may find they take your money and disappear.

How to Find Real Income Opportunities

More reputable websites are a good place to start as they will not rip you off. You usually get to deal directly with the employer through a bidding system. Examples of these sites include, Elance, Guru and Freelancer.com.

Visit these sites and see how they are run. Check how they list their jobs and list their own contact details. As you start having success, check out any other sites in your niche.

A Few More Tips

Leave your spam emails in the spam box. If you did not sign up for their emails ignore them. Why would they resort to spamming people if their opportunity was so good?

Don't release personal information. You may get asked for social security details or other private details. Should this really be necessary to secure a job?

Do not worry, making money online is definitely feasible. A large proportion of the work force now work almost solely from their homes. They all have to put in more effort than just a couple of hours each week. The ones that succeed have put in years of hard work to reach such a position.

Work hard at your online opportunity. Build relationships with the right people, learn the system and you will be able to expect the rewards to flow for many years.

Legitimate Online Business - Is Such A Thing Really Possible?

For so long now the internet has been full of scams and cons and so the possibility of a legitimate online business was rare. But that has all changed since November 2009 when the FTC cracked down on all the spam advertisers especially on Google and completely cleared the decks. The flip side of this was that they took out most of the legitimate online business advertisers as well. This was both a curse and a blessing in disguise, especially for any new people looking to start up their own legitimate online business. Even at time of writing it is still a barren wasteland out there on Google and many online marketers are now switching to Facebook for their new nirvana.

How To Be Seen As Legitimate And Stand Out From The Crowd

The big concern of anyone new to the online world looking to start a legitimate online business is that they don't want to be associated with any scams or Ponzi and Pyramid type schemes. This is totally understandable and there are several ways you can avoid this.

5 Ways To Avoid Being Seen As A Scam

1. Pick a good domain name
2. Avoid the hard sell
3. Specialize in a niche
4. Make sure you Google well
5. Give away good free content

1. Pick A Good Domain Name

Avoid choosing something that sounds like spam, not only do your prospects see this as bad but also entities such as Google will red flag you straight away if they perceive you as get rich quick

2. Avoid The Hard Sell

Don't try and sell on your website the moment someone lands there. Give them some free training or resources and build up trust and rapport before you try and promote your product. Most people need to see something at least 7 times before they buy and so in most cases you're not going to nail them in your first attempt. Try and focus on delivering content and copy that will bring them back time and again until the point where they are ready to buy.

3. Specialize In A Niche

If you are just telling people how to make money online then it is usually far too general and will be perceived as spam. Try and focus on a specific area inside your main business and find a niche that you can specialize in so that over time you are perceived as an expert in that field. This will build you up huge credibility and over time people will come to respect your opinion in that field and feel confident to buy from you.

4. Make Sure You Google Well

Most people when they see your website and offer will do some due diligence on you before they get anywhere close to buying. Almost certainly the first thing they are going to do is Google your name so you have to make sure the top searches are actually you and that they are congruent with your niche. If you can keep that consistency throughout all your marketing and sales funnels then that will build up your credibility over time and give people confidence that you are a legitimate online business

5. Give Away Good Free Content

The more good free content you give away the more people are going to trust that your paid content is going to deliver. There is a fine line between giving away enough free content and giving away too much that they don't need your paid service anymore and you must find this line by yourself. In general I would go for a lot of free content that you can always pull back and put into your paid service later on. The content should have practical value and insights and not just be lots of theory that no one can use.

How Email Is Killing Your Online Business

How many times has this happened to you?

You get ready to do some serious work, but first you just want to check your email.

So you fire up your email client and see you have 73 messages which made it past the spam filters, and now you figure they deserve at least a precursory glance.

First thing you notice is a few spam mails did make it through, and some of those headlines are hilarious.

After weeding through the funny spam, you see your friend has sent you a viral video link. Oh man, that was a funny fifteen minute video!

And don't forget those other three you just watched because you clicked on the Related Videos link. You HAVE to pass these on!

And you do.

Now you notice Marky Marketer has sent you an URGENT message about a Special Deal you're missing out on... right now!

There's no time to waste, you hafta check out that limited deal, before everyone else finds out about it.

Once you get to the page you quickly discern this over hyped and over priced offer is bunk so it's back to the email.

This time, we're gonna stay FOCUSED!

Alrighty then!

Hey look, Big Dog has struck a bigger deal on that package, but it is only for his list, AND there are BONUSES!

Big Dog's presentation is a lot better, because he is GIVING you his three latest products as a BONUS...

Hey look... he twisted the other guy's arm to knock 20% off the already markdown price...

So heck ya... it's a good deal!

But what about Mega Dog.... What kinda deal does HE have?

Maybe it's better... let's go check!

And round you go again...

So you have wasted half your day, and probably didn't even buy the product.

Stay away from your inbox until the end of your day, after your work is done.

Typically, any marketer who plays email tag will lose valuable time they could be using to build their business. Consider how many articles could have been written during the hour and half wasted chasing deals, watching viral videos and reading junk email.

Use this time you're wasting to to take action and actually build your internet marketing business.

After you've actually accomplished something, you're free to stay up all night to read your email.

But here's the thing... after you wake a few mornings feeling the pain of lost sleep, the reality of how much time you've been wasting will finally hit you.

How To Avoid Some Of The Most Common Best Money Systems Frauds!

If you've been researching different ways to make money with internet marketing, then you've undoubtedly come across a ton of websites and opportunities telling you (in bright, flashing letters) that they are, or have discovered, the best money systems out there. Usually, they sound really appealing... but that's the point! So how do you know which ones are legit, and which ones are scams that aren't going to make you a dime?

Well, there are a few really common internet marketing scams that you'll want to be aware of.

1. The Submit Your Site To Search Engines Scam

"We submit your website to 100's of search engines!!" Yeah, okay. There may be lots of search engines out there, but there's only four that handle close to 100 percent of all searches. There's no point in submitting your site to any other engines but these top four. Also, search engines prefer to find and index websites on their own... they don't give any special attention to submitted sites.

2. The Google Ranking Scam

"We'll get your site ranked #1 in Google!" Hey, that's a good thing. But before you head on over to Paypal, check out the fine print. Do you get to choose the keywords you rank for? Nope, probably not. No-one who knows anything about SEO would guarantee that ranking for any old keyword you happen to choose. What's more likely is that they choose the keywords, and they are uncompetitive ones that will be easy to rank for... and that aren't getting all that many searches anyway.

3. The Backlinking Scam

"We'll guarantee you 10,000 backlinks!" Or whatever number of backlinks they state. The best money systems do, of course, recognize that backlinks are important... but as they will instruct you, they need to be quality backlinks. Anyone who is guaranteeing you a large number of backlinks is probably doing it via spam links, spam link sites, and poor link directories. The links will be irrelevant, low quality and they will not do anything to boost your ranking (in fact, it may hurt your ranking). Same goes for link exchanges, or reciprocal linking.

4. The Directory Submission Scam

"We'll submit your site to thousands of directories!" Sure, they can do this... but you shouldn't pay for a service offering this. Why? Because you don't want your site on all of them! You want your site on quality directories, like DMOZ. Many directory submission offers simply send your site off to automated link farms, which can damage your ranking big time. Ask for a list of which directories they submit to, and only go for offers that include quality directories that will help your ranking.

The legitimate best money systems will never include any of these services, nor will they include any 'black hat' techniques that can end up getting your site banned. So when you are looking at different systems and offers, make sure you really read what's being offered, and how they make good on their offer. If it sounds too good to be true, or a little sketchy, then you're better off staying far, far away.

When Gurus Have To Resort To Spam

It is a very sad day when well known and very successful Internet marketing gurus (and I use that term in the most derogatory way in this case) have to resort to spam. I am going to tell a very short story and then tell you what the ultimate repercussions will be if you decide to resort to things like this. I won't mention any names here, but if you manage to find my name and shame site (no URLs will be given) you can read all the dirt about everybody there.

Okay, so I happen to moderate at this one forum. Anyway, I wake up this morning and I see this thread title. It looked interesting. I then see the person who posted it and I said to myself, "Wow...I can't believe he came to this rather obscure forum." Then I took a look at the post itself. It was a blatant advertisement for some seminar that he's running at $200 a ticket. I thought to myself, "As successful as you are, you have to resort to spamming a forum?"

I know what he was thinking. Nobody at this forum who is anybody is going to know who he is. He'll just be another name in the crowd. I guess what he didn't count on was me being a moderator there. Or maybe he didn't care. Maybe he just figured, "What the heck...I'm (name goes here) and I can do anything I want and nobody is going to say anything. After all, I'm (name goes here)."

Yeah, when you start believing your own press, that's when you get into trouble.

Anyway, it really bugged me that somebody at his success level had to resort to spamming a forum, no matter how small the forum may be in comparison to the HUGE world he manages to fit his over-inflated ego into. There is bound to be somebody there who will recognize him and spread the word about his cheap tactics.

And that brings me to the point of this article. Believe it or not, contrary to what YOU might be thinking, the Internet is a SMALL place, especially if you're in the "make money" niche. Everybody knows everybody else and somewhere out there is somebody frequenting a forum or social site who will see these tactics and have the clout to make a big enough stink about them. And when negative press gets around, it gets around.

So think twice before you spam or cookie stuff or whatever nasty things you THINK you can get away with.

Somebody is going to catch you who you will wish to God didn't.

To YOUR Success,

Steven Wagenheim
