5 Reasons Why the Average Home Business Owner is Overworked and Underpaid

Are you feeling overworked and underpaid as a home business owner? Do you feel like you've replaced your boss with an even more demanding boss who just so happens to be in the same body? Well here are the five reasons why you're likely to be experiencing more stress and overwhelm, and less results or income.

1. You're focusing on non-income generating tasks

It happens to the best of us, we start off our day with tons of grand ideas for our business and our income generation. Then we get sidetracked by reading e-mails, hanging out on social networks, or putting out fires. All of these small tasks that seem so urgent end up eating our time and reducing our income. Before you know it, it's the end of the day and you haven't done any of those big business tasks that you wanted to knock out. The solution is to put the important income producing tasks on your plate first thing in the morning before you get off track.

2. You're not charging enough for your services or products

Whether you're just beginning in your home business or you've been at it for years, chances are that you're not charging what your worth. We all have that little voice inside our head that tells us that we're not good enough, and that we don't deserve to ask for that much money. The truth is that we are providing more value than we realize to the people who are using our products and services. So give that little voice the shove and start charging what you're worth.

3. You're stuck in the time for money exchange

We've all been raised to work for income, but the rules of entrepreneurialism are changing. The truth is that we don't need to be stuck in that exchange of time for money game anymore. In fact, it's even easier than it ever was before because the Internet allows us to create products or services that can be automated and delivered through the Internet without us being there. So if you are exchanging your time for money right now, do a little brainstorm for different business models and ideas on how to shift this in your life. One model to consider might be network marketing, since this is a very leveraged use of your time.

4. Not enough structure or downtime

When you're working for yourself it's so easy to get off-track and work too much to your detriment. You may be working 80 or 90 hour weeks without any results to show for it. This goes back to number one where you might not be focusing on the right tasks. So in order to feel better and to be more productive, you need to take more time off to rejuvenate and take care of yourself. By taking better care of yourself and spending time with friends and family, you get to relax and delve deeper into your reserves of creativity in a ideas.

5. Not focusing on your right niche

If you've been in business for a while you may have noticed that most marketing "gurus" will tell you to narrow your niche. Now whether you actually narrow your niche or not, it's up to you. But I found that the more specific you can get into the mind of a potential ideal client, the more you are going to connect with them. When you connect with the ideal client, you do better work, you can charge more, and you'll feel more confident in your ability to help people. When you feel like you're making a bigger impact, your whole business life will change.

Hopefully these five reasons have resonated with you, and inspired you to change things in the way that you run your own business.

Job Options For Stay at Home Mom's

Moms who work at home (WAHMs) are becoming more and more common in the United States. Women are looking for a way to make some extra money while not neglecting their family. Deciding to be a WAHM can be difficult but if you consider all the aspects of your choice carefully, it can be easy.

There is a lot of opportunity for growth and advancement as a work at home mom. But it may not be for everyone. The great things about being a WAHM are that you can set your own schedule and you can be home to take care of your family. The potential problems can include feeling isolated when you are home all day and trouble juggling work and taking care of the family.

You will need to consider the family budget and how making a decision to be a WAHM will affect your family. Can you afford to leave your full time job in order to work from home? You have to take into consideration that you will not need to pay for daycare if you are a WAHM. You may not make a lot of money as a work-at-home mom but there are also expenses that you won't have anymore so you have to consider the pros and cons to your finances before you decide to be a WAHM.

For many women, it is worth it to make some financial sacrifices in order to be home with their children. They value being there for their children and keeping them out of daycare more than they do bringing in a large income to the family. That is up to the individual, though.

There are generally two kinds of work at home moms. You have the option of being your own boss, or becoming an independent contractor. In both cases, you will be able to work when you want. That means you have to have a lot of motivation and be able to meet deadlines without a supervisor encouraging you. No matter how you work from home, you are going to have to meet deadlines and attend meetings of some sort.

Learn how to manage your time wisely. There are many books and articles at your local library that can help you with this subject. You have to learn to balance your work and your family life in a way that nothing suffers. This is the biggest challenge for many women who work at home. Deciding to be a WAHM is not something to take lightly. Often times the best people to talk to about making a change is your family. Note benefits and set backs that may occur and have a family discussion.

Is it Time For a Stay at Home Job?

The internet. This revolution has helped us do a great many things. We can take a video of our friend falling on his butt and put it up for all to see. We can read ten word posts from vapid celebrities about the silly things they do in a day. Or if you're a little more ambitious, you can use it to find some real work and make money with a stay at home job.

But is it right for you? A stay at home job can be a blessing for some and a curse for others. Here's your checklist...

Can You Stick To Your Own Schedule?

Making your own schedule doesn't necessarily mean "I don't feel like working today... Or tomorrow... Or the next day." Making your own schedule means ACTUALLY making your own schedule and sticking to it. Look, when you set your budget, do you choose to spend twice what you put aside for groceries? If so, you probably need to hold on to the sort of job where you have a boss kicking you in the butt and making you actually show up for work and make some money. If you can't follow your own schedule, you can't make a living working from your own home with a stay at home job.

Are You A People Person?

If you have a tough time meeting people and making friends, you may want to stick with a job that has you leaving the house now and then. You don't realize how important contact with other people is until you don't have it. If you want to work from home, you'd better make sure you put aside a couple days a week to go out and spend some of that money hanging out with your friends. Otherwise, you may find that you're becoming more and more isolated and, yes, you're making money, but you're really not enjoying yourself without having anyone to hang out with.

Are You a Single Mom or a Single Dad?

If you answer yes to this question, then you really SHOULD take up any opportunity you have to work at home. Even if you don't fit anything else on this checklist, being a parent has a way of shaping you up into exactly the person you need to be in life. If you have kids to take care of, you may find that hiring babysitters or paying for a day care center can cost you so much that you may as well not have a job at all. If you're making only so much an hour, the babysitter is probably wanting about the same. If they're taking ninety percent of your money, then it's just not worth it, and you absolutely do need to seriously consider working from home.

Thousands like you have part time work at home jobs so why don't you. Work full time or part time, up to you. Visit http://www.stayathomejob.info for more information and access.

Jobs For Mums

Jobs for mums have often been the type of work that tends to be underpaid and undervalued, with very little return for the number of hours that have been worked.

By looking on the Internet you will find many different types of jobs for mums that you can work either part time or full time, and providing you choose the right type of home business opportunity it is possible to earn a full time living working part time hours.

You need to take care when looking at various home business opportunities on the Internet because there are many unscrupulous people who will take your money and never give you the help that you will need. In most cases like these there will be little chance of getting your money back.

By following some simple advice I can show you how to avoid some of the pitfalls, and ways to point you in the right direction to help you make the right choice.

You should never pay anyone money up front even if it is only a small amount of money until you are completely happy that this is the best home business opportunity for your needs.

Some of the very best jobs for mums that I have found on the Internet will allow you to take a look at the whole business free of charge and without any obligation.

Many will also offer you a free or reduced price trial period so that you can test the business opportunity to ensure that it is something you like and feel happy with.

It is usually better to pick a business opportunity that will allow you to pay for your business and ongoing training on a monthly basis.

By building your home business in this manner it will reduce your risk of losing a large sum of money which is normally paid for up front.

This will now allow you the opportunity to pull out of the business at any time without a large financial loss.

Also when choosing jobs for mums always make sure that you have an easy and simple way to cancel your monthly subscriptions and any ongoing fees.

Never be tempted to take a home business opportunity just because it has a high price tag, some of the best jobs for mums that I have found are also some of the cheapest and easiest ones to run.

The setup costs should only be around $20-$40 and the running costs of these home business opportunities should cost you less than a cup of decent coffee each day.

The package deal for these types of jobs for mums should include most of the following to give you the best chance of success in your new home business.

You will need a dedicated helpline and a complete set of video tutorials which will take you step by step and teach you everything that you will need to know.

Also free unlimited domain name hosting and unlimited bandwidth, free web templates, free questions and answers, and a dedicated forum.

There should also be a ready made and easy to follow business building plan which is broken down into easy to follow simple daily, weekly and monthly tutorial modules.

This type of help is extremely important as it will allow you to grow in confidence and realise that almost anyone with little or no experience can build their very own home business.

Some of the most lucrative and easy to run jobs for mums are often found in Internet marketing and affiliate marketing, and both of these home business opportunities can be run from home on a full time or part time basis.

You can copy the exact business plan that Karen and I have used to build our own business.

Every step of building your business is shown to you in great detail with individual video tutorials.

If you would like to take a free look at how you can do the same and build your own home internet business, step by step without taking any risks or paying any money up front. Click here http://www.mymoneyjar.com

You will also get free extra help, and a free e-book that will show you how to build your first website.

Becoming Your Own Boss is No Picnic

Becoming your own boss is a huge step to take and as I have done it recently with no experience and not a lot of cash I decided to write this article to try and help people to take that step.

Before I committed to a new business opportunity I did lots of research online to find the business that best suited my aims which were to work from home and spend time with my daughter as I am a single dad I recommend you do your own research to find a business opportunity that suits your aims.

Become your own boss is not something you should not consider unless you are going to be truly committed to it because the first month or so have been no picnic and I have almost quite several times. It is crucial that you don't give up in the early stages in my experience it took a couple of months before I made a sale I got plenty of leads but they didn't convert to sales.

If you are like me and have no experience of running a business the time spent praying for your first sale can be very scary as you have invested money and initially you have nothing coming in but if you stay committed it will turn around and the is no substitute for being your own boss.

If like me you choose to go into online marketing and you do some research you will read things saying you can do this with a tiny marketing budget I really don't agree with that, although it is true you do not need a fortune but in my opinion you need to spend money on advertising to get your business up and running.

The first thing you need to do is build a presence on line by opening accounts with face book, twitter tube, better marketer to name just a few, in truth I would say open up as many accounts as possible to build your presence online.

The best ways I have found to get your name out there cheaply is article marketing but you must take care with your spelling a top tip is use your spell checker.

Nothing speaks of a lack of professional more than spelling errors (and I'm not talking about the odd one that slips in) or the lack of punctuation or capitalizing words in the middle of a sentence.

It would be similar to walking into a restaurant for the first time and the chef doesn't care about what the meal looks like because after all what is important is the taste of the food. Therefore the sauce can be dripping off the plate, the potato is partially covered by the meat and the waiter has his thumb on top of the sprig of parsley. Yuck. Chances are no matter how good the food tasted I probably wouldn't return to that particular restaurant.

I hope I have not put you off taking that step to become your own boss. It was the best thing I ever did and the benefits far outweigh the problems, all I am trying to say is you need to be committed and enter into it with your eyes wide open. http://www.andyhughes69.com

Have Your Online Business Ideas Failed Because You Aren't Doing This?

If you've been hanging around the internet looking for ways to build a business for any amount of time, I'm 100% confident that you've seen the pictures of young guys next to a Ferrari talking about how easy it is to make huge amounts of money online.

You've also seen all the outrageous claims of making over $20,000 a day from all of these different "systems" for making money off the internet. Now the only reason you could be reading this article right now is because you have tried one or more of these online business ideas with little to no success.

Trust me, I know how excruciatingly frustrating it can be...it wasn't that long ago that I was in the same position! I spent over a year working online full time, racking up huge credit card bills before I even made my first measly sale online.

I spent thousands of dollars on all kinds of different products looking for that magic bullet that would make me quick cash like they all said I could.

It wasn't until one of the worst days of my life, in which I nearly hit rock bottom, that I had an epiphany...I had been treating my time as an internet marketer as a short term job, not a business.

That was a key shift in my thinking that really started to propel change in what I was doing online. I realized that I had to find a real, sustainable business model that had been proven to produce a consistent reliable income. I needed to be doing what the "guru's" were doing, NOT what they were telling me to do.

Here's where I had a 2nd revelation!

I had been trying to promote products as an affiliate marketer for all these guru's (and some non-gurus...lol!) and when I started to think about what these guys were doing and what they had in common, one major thing stood out to me.

They all had affiliate programs!

That got me thinking even further, as there was no way that these guys were doing all the work of managing an army of affiliates. So I searched around some internet marketing forums and found out that every single one of these product owners employs an affiliate manager to take care of this for them.

Now I was really onto something here. Just think about all the internet marketing products that are launched every single week, and then when you throw in products in other niches...there's a never ending supply of product launches that need affiliate managers!

You can take it even one step further and look at any business with an affiliate program, which the vast majority of them have, and all of a sudden you have an enormous market - $3 billion dollar one at that.

So I set out and developed a business out of managing affiliate programs for different product owners and it took off like wildflower. I haven't looked back since...

Do you want to learn more about becoming an affiliate manager?

I've detailed this incredible [http://makemoneyproposition.com/]online business idea on the next page. If you seriously want to have a reliable, predictable, sustainable business online...I strongly advise you to [http://makemoneyproposition.com/]Click Here.

Working at Home - Making Money Online Through eBay

With the economic crisis still looming in front of us, people just need to be more creative to find ways to achieve financial security, aside from their regular paychecks. For moms with children, especially, the challenge is to find an extra income, and yet take care of their children's needs. This makes working at home opportunities especially attractive to mothers because they have the peace of mind knowing that they are earning and yet taking care of their children at the same time.

One method of working at home is by making money online through eBay. Most of them started by simply selling things out of their closets on the eBay auction website, much as if simply selling their stuff out on a garage sale. Through time, some of the successful eBay marketers found ways to sell other products more creatively. Now, most of them are generating income from their working at home strategies a lot more than what they would have probably earned from their daytime jobs.

More and more work at home moms are discovering that huge online wealth can be created through eBay. If you want to succeed as a work at home mom selling stuff on eBay, you need to make bigger plans for creating your own store, where you can sell various products from different distributors. It is easy to find some wholesalers who can sell products to you at discounts, which you then sell at retail prices on your virtual online eBay store.

As a work at home mom venturing for the first time on eBay marketing, your first concern may be that you may not have enough space at home to accommodate the products that you want to sell online. The good thing is you don't even need a warehouse or a big room in your apartment to stock on the products you are selling. You can easily use a dropshipper who will deliver the goods to your buyers, every time an order is made. You don't have to worry about the shipping or the stocking of products, your dropshipper will take care of anything related to shipping and handling. You would only have to focus on marketing your virtual online eBay store.

Work at home moms can now find a lucrative way making money online through eBay. This online business can be started with minimal costs and has unlimited potential to create online profits for you. As you become a more matured online marketer, you can then think of other strategies to make your online business grow. You can start making money on eBay as a hobby, and if you wish you can turn this into your own corporation and earn unlimited revenues.

On the Road Again - The Benefits of Being the Boss

Summer is here - and the livin is easy! Or is it?

As an entrepreneur, our business is always there, always calling to us. It can be hard to shut it off and take that much need vacation! I have just returned from my live mastermind retreat, heading to college orientation and am spending a week in Palm Springs. I know I need the time to be away, but how can I do it and not "stress" over leaving the office?

During each of my trips, I have remained "connected" for the most part - taking my Blackberry and netbook. My husband has called it "dis-connecta-phobia" - afraid of being disconnected from the world and business! While I know the "ding ding" on my Blackberry annoys my friends and family, it actually started to annoy me too! But while I am lounging in Palm Springs on my pool side chaise lounge in my cabana, or listening to the President of the College welcome new parents, I am reminded.... I LOVE having a business where I have the freedom to work from wherever!

Here are a few tips to help in planning ahead for that time away from the office!

1. Write in advance! Take a day, or two, to write your ezines and blogs before you go and schedule them to be delivered while you are away. Many of these programs have a setting for scheduling the "send" dates weeks in advance. I use both Constant Contact and WordPress - both of which allow me to "schedule" the publish date.

2. Schedule your vacation around your "slow" time. But you say, I don't have a "slow" time. I can relate! However, I have tried to schedule my time away around my magazine deadlines, Expos - and of course the NAOEM Success Summit - bigger tasks that require me to be around full time. In addition, as parents we know that summer is a great time to travel with our kids! I have found that typically business slows down in August, especially the last two weeks. So consider taking that vacation right before they go back to school!

3. Have a "wing woman" or man in place to run interference! I have always had someone from my office to check phone messages and return urgent phone calls. She can access the voicemail system from her home office and take care of any needs or questions my clients have in a timely fashion. If there is something urgent that she can't answer, she knows to send me an email marked URGENT in the subject line, so I know I must read and respond. In addition, this summer I will be on the road during two of our monthly teleclasses and I had my Virtual Assistant take care of the "technology" part of the call. I had her call in with the "host" code, I called in as a "participant" from my cell phone and she is able to mute callers, turn on recordings, etc. It was a great way to handle the call and keep my stress to a minimum while running my business from the road!

4. Communicate with your clients! Some of my clients are aware that I am going on vacation. I will try to anticipate their needs and call them ahead of time. I also use my voicemail message to let callers know that I am out of town, when I'll be back and who they can contact if they have an urgent need. I also set up an autoresponder on my email system to do the same. Most will wait until I return - but for those who can't, they feel they are being taken care of and have access to me, which gives them added confidence in me and my companies!

These are just a few tricks I have used to make my vacations a little smoother. I do check email atleast once a day - usually at night. (Most vacation destinations have Wi-Fi available.) I have tried to "disconnect" a little more this summer and really enjoy the time spent with family and friends. I don't think I suffer as severly from "dis-connecta-phobia" anymore...and I have learned to turn off the sound on my Blackberry and only check it once in a while!

Here's to your vacation and taking it on the road!

Setting Up Your Home Office Cubicle

Working form home is becoming more popular with the passing day. In today's hectic world we are spending an ever increasing amount of time on commuting to and fro from our workplace. This means we have less time to ourselves than we did before. We have less time to spend with our loved ones, hang out with friends or just time to ourselves. Working from home also allows for flexible timing for new parents, especially the single ones and parents who feel that they are missing out on their child's sweet and tender moments. Setting up a home office is a simple and straight forward task. Here are the basics to help get you started.

Furniture: The only furniture you will really need is a desk and a chair. The desk is important because it is the base of your office space. Everything except you and the chair is going to be in or on the desk. Firstly determine where you are going to setup the office in the house. You need a clear space, preferably against a wall with a power point close by that can support the electronics you are going to install later. Also keep it clear on both sides to avoid overcrowding and feeling boxed in. You can either ask your office for a desk and chair or you will be assigned a budget and you will have to shop for them yourself. Check the classifieds in the local papers and on the internet. Get a desk with plenty of drawers and storage for your paperwork and files or you will be loosing them around the house.

Computer/Laptop: Once you have set up the desk and chair setup the computer or laptop you are going to be using. Keep room for the printer and scanner or you could get an all in one solution that includes the printer, the scanner, and a facsimile machine all rolled in one. Use a power strip to power all the appliances. Wrap up all the wires and bundle with plasticuffs and put them away to avoid tripping. A laptop is easier to setup and more versatile in the connections, but the wires all stick out from the side.

Electronics and Communications: The electronic part of it first. The electronics include your lighting and any other equipment that needs an external source of power. A table lamp should take care of the lighting. A yellow light will give you a nice warm glow but will make you sleepy whereas a white light will keep you awake and save power but will look sterile. If you do not have space on the desk for a lamp, use a tall lampshade on one side of the desk.

Stationary: The stationary is all the standard stuff you would find in an average office cubicle. Look at your current office desk and make a note of all the stationary you have. Or you could go to the stationary cupboard and make a list over there. Take enough supplies to last you till you go into the office next, because if you run out before hand you will end up spending for it from your pocket. Have someone from the stationary department inventory all you are taking with you to avoid future complications.
